Mission Report - Desert Tomb

A small holorecording would play once the file was downloaded. The voice of Harridax Geskar would play across the recording, somewhat haughty and rehearsed. It was very clearly a recording made for multiple uses.

"Major Koren, Captain Igneel, Lieutenant McCarthy. Listed below is my report of yesterdays mission, for you to look over at your own leisure. The account is from my own perspective of events, a full detailing of all that occurred only able to be gathered from multiple reports from multiple people."

And as soon as it had started, the brief recording was done. Following, the file would go into detail of the titled report.

Stage 1 - Entry, Initial Assessment and First Engagement:

Once planetside, we were dropped near immediately outside of a Tomb in a desert of Alor II. The wind was howling, which assisted with masking our descent. A Sandstorm quickly cut out communications and the squad was equipped with little beyond what everyone had from their own specialisations. An entry point was secured quickly, with the tomb layout offering much cover on either side of the long downwards corridors that were clearly common in such a layout. The cultists inside were completely unaware of our presence.
Seeing how many of us there was, it was on my recommendation that Lieutenant McCarthy split the group into two Fire Teams. While the standard organisational fire team is either two or three, the LT decided to go with four, splitting our squad into two fire teams. While none standard, it worked well in such a confined space where the Aurek Fire Team took the left well and the Besh fire team, the right. Specialist Quinton was placed at the head of the Besh fire team, which I was likewise in as 'B-3'. A role normally took on by a Corporal, but the Specialist shouldn't enough leadership adequacy to know when to defer to the LT.
As both teams reached the bottom of the first lot of stairs, the LT, Specialist Quinton and Specialist Kirk all saw our first engagement. A pair of cultists, talking amongst themselves. The entire squad was entirely undetected and for a long, long, time there was debates going back and forth regarding taking them out quietly. My own recommendation was a 'quick storm' of the underground compound, that would see us shoot the pair before quickly advancing before our foes were able to gather together an organised resistance if they had heard anything. It was decided that the pair would be shot, but our advance afterwards was much more conservative and careful. Besh Team advanced ahead while Aurek stayed to provide overwatch.

Stage 2 - Courtyard below and the Force Sensitive Cultist:

It is my understanding that Aurek Team kept a close watch on the courtyard below, where several cultists were able to be watched and eliminated with ease if anything occurred. The layout saw that the initial duo were taken out and Aurek near enough took their place entirely, looking down from the balcony that the duo were on to ensure that if Besh was caught in their advances, reinforcements would be stalled due to Aurek tying up such a location. Regardless, Besh did not get far.
Besh Team crossed from one balcony to the next, before coming to a different courtyard than the one Aurek was providing an eye on. Inside was a single cultist with their back turned and in the spirit of copying previous tactics, Specialist Quinton ordered them shot in the back by myself after a small advance. I advanced, took up position by a crate, held my breath as trained and stabilised my rifle and arms ontop of the crate. My burst of three was as accurate as any could be, but unfortunately, the cultist seemed to have some Sith training and almost seemed to have been warned of the danger through the force. I fired three bursts in short succession, managing to clip the force sensitive cultist on the leg. I rolled a thermal detonator when they were distracted, but ultimately the cultist fled the scene when reinforcements arrived for both the cultists and ourselves. The Major had sent in the second platoon, and we withdrew.

Assessment and Recommendations:

Sirs, it is my recommendation that the underbarrelled Flamethrower attachment become standard amongst two soldiers per Alor II mission going forward alongside no less than combined force of four sonic grenades. Both a flamethrower and sonic grenade are key weapons against force users, the first due to their inability to be blocked easily and the second because of its ability to utterly disrupt concentration due to the sonic explosion while seemingly the force sensitives don't get a warning regarding the detonation through the force. Dedicated tactics towards flanking while smoke screens are up and fire team cohesion will follow in another report.

Commendations:

Specialist Quinton performed admirably throughout the entire mission. She led Besh Team at the command of the LT after my own recommendation and did so practically and cohesively. Due to me being on the front lines against a Lightsaber wielding foe, I hold no illusions that if Specialist Quinton had made a bad order, I would be here to write this report.

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
