The ability sheets, all you need to know

#1
The Ability Sheets

What are ability sheets?

With a commitment to lore friendly and realistic RP House Horuset takes pride in it's members acting with powers and abilities that are within the bounds of possibility. However, sometimes people begin using powers they either have no real training for, knowledge about or comprehension of the difficulty. Because of this, we are introducing the ability sheets. These are not to monitor one's ability in a certain power or put a schematic up of what powers people are banned from. Rather it is a tool to keep an organised list of what our characters do and don't know as well as whether they have done any training in said ability to use it with some effect.

Who are they for?

Ability sheets are expected of everyone who achieves the neophyte rank or above and should be done with a modicum of oversight from the master. From here members may update their sheets as they progress, with their master being the one who can judge when they may update their stages (Stages will be explained further on) and competency (Also to be expanded on later) being updated as experience is had. Anybody of a lower rank is not expected to provide one, however if you wish to, this is obviously quite alright but these will be overseen and scrutinised.

How do they work?

Ability sheets work as follow; a table with two columns is made. The first column will be the name of the ability. The second will be the 'Stage' this ability is at and 'Competency' that the ability can be used with. The stages are used to judge your character's grasp of the ability and whether they can use it without aid from another or in real life circumstance. The competency is a GM tool used to judge a character's experience with an ability when making decisions during events. These are not sparing sheets or sheets designed to be whipped out in casual roleplay nor is there any way to 'level' these things with rolls or the like.

Stages are defined by the level 1, 2 and 3; 1 meaning that an ability has been looked into and studied but cannot be actively completed, 2 meaning that an ability has been actively practiced but could not be reproduced in a combat situation. Competency is defined by Beginner, Adept, Expert and Master which each step defining your experience in that ability; beginner is the infancy of your strength in a power, adept is where you are now fairly average at that ability and can use it effectively, expert is where you are able to use an ability well and are notably better than your run of the mill Sith, master is a point in which you can learn no more about this ability. Finally N.A. is for when these competency ratings are not applicable, for example before you reach stage 3 in an ability.

Does this mean I have to learn what my master can teach?

No. This is nothing but a tool to keep track of powers and stop people suddenly learning powers without training or extensive study on their own (Yutal for example begun most of his lightsaber study without the personal training of Ahandra.).Anybody can study and learn powers from people in the guild if it is agreed ICly and obviously with powers learned alone, if the RP can be proven and shows it was done correctly.

Should I be scared?

Only of Hirak.

I would like to see an example

Well, you're in luck! I have created just the sheet for Yutal. I also include a link to what is called a BB code table maker. This means you can type in your info and then click generate and then have a copy and paste version of your table ready to go without having to code it yourself. (For those enjin impaired)

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
