What is the Redacted Archive?
The Redacted Archive is a place within the Horuset Archives. Within, is all of the information that a higher member of the Conservancy has decided is no longer suitable for the public view. Threads will be moved to the Redacted Archive when they meet that criteria and the title will be edited to contain either [deleted] or [redacted] depending on the state of the piece of information. The Redacted Archive serves as the platform for two threads within:
[DELETED]
A thread that has been marked as deleted is understandably, deleted. It is no longer present on the Horuset Archive ICly, but is present within the Redacted Archives so that the thread's reading material can be read through and enjoyed all the same. Threads are often marked as deleted if they are particularly controversial to the reigning regime or if they hold so much conflicting information to how current events truly are in the eyes of the reigning regime that they cannot remain, even behind closed doors.
[REDACTED]
A thread that has been marked as redacted has been taken away from the section of the Horuset Archives that it was originally found in and the sole copy now remains inside the Redacted Archives, unavailable to all save for the upper Conservancy and the Lorekeeper of the Powerbase. Threads marked as redacted often hold information that isn't particularly controversial, but either the author has fallen out of favour of the reigning regime or the information within is no longer relevant to the wider Horuset Powerbase.
Is my character aware that a Redacted Archive exists in the first place?
If your character has noticed that suddenly a particular piece of information is no longer available on the Horuset Archive, they could logically assume straight up that it has been deleted. If such a thread of conversation was RP'd out, they may end up heading in the right direction to find out that a Redacted Archive exists, even if they don't necessarily have access to it.
Wait, so does this mean my character's information could be targeted by a higher up and all sent to the Redacted Archive?
In theory, yes. In practise, no. As you can see within the Redacted Archive, the only threads that have been moved so far involves characters with controversial information and/or are no longer in the guild. The Redacted Archive OOCly serves the purpose of 'archiving' those old threads, as deleting them would be an affront to the work that went into them despite them no longer being relevant to the guild OOCly or the Powerbase ICly.
Could a piece of information be restored from the Redacted Archive back to the Horuset Archives?
If it was [redacted] and a character finds out that it wasn't deleted but was only redacted, they can certainly try and get it restored to the wider archive by approaching characters who have access to it fully. If it was [deleted], then unfortunately that piece of information is no longer available ICly and lives on only in the OOC thread.
