Unique Armours and Uniforms
A small holorecording would play once the file was downloaded. A synthetic Imperial voice would speak, near entirely monotone.
"The Imperial Army is knowna cross the galaxy for charcoal armoy striped with red, a representation of the Sith Order that has guided the Empire for centuries, though experienced commanders will rightly point out that often the proud colours of the army can be a hinderance in certain war zones. And so with the consent of the Ministry of War, some units have been allowed to have their standard equipment changed out to new colours that represented their elite status or the needs of extreme warfare. Covered in this article will be just a few examples, though many more exist.
And as soon as it had started, the brief recording was done. Following, the file would go into detail concerning the beasts and droids that are available at the Imperial Quartermaster.
Unit Examples:
A highly respected regiment of soldiers stationed on Korriban, with the chief duties of guarding the Sith Academy and mantaining control over the surrounding valleys to push back the ever approaching wild life. Working alongside the Imperial Guard, both in it's previous iteration and current, the Regiment is seen as one of the most respetable posistions in the Imperial Army due to it's inherent connections to not only the Sith Order but specifically the Dark Council. It's honour has however been reduced in recent years as The Jedi assault on Korriban and subsequent Eternal Empire raid was largely blamed on the Regiment.
The Regiment is recognised by the dusty red armour they wear with black secondary plating. While this is often seen as the red of the Sith, it also serves as natural camoflague for the light red cliffs and mountains found on Korriban, useful when dealing with dangerous predators.
In the rare instance other soldiers have the possibility of visiting Korriban they must receive permission from a Senior Commissioned Officer to wear a set of matching armour to fit in with the Korriban Regiment.
The 847th Light Infantry is a lesser known unit, which is how they seem to like to operate, unseen by both allies and enemies. For a long time they were deployed far to the galactic south and the Outer Rim, often willingly taking up assingments in where they'd be fighting in the cold environments. They had seen notable success on Hoth when they were shortly deployed there during the Cold War, their stark white armour being practically invisible against the snow banks.
The 847th however are often confused with the much more famous Armageddon Battalion, though their armour is a mildly darker grey rather than the plain white winter camouflage used by the 847th. This white armour has been handed out to other Imperial units deployed to cold weather environments, though usually not received with enthusiasm.
Known fondly, though unofficially, as the "Desert Vultures" the 796th Armoured is an elite army unit that rarely deploys as a complete unit but is instead often split up and scattered across large zones of conflict. While fully capable of pushing an armoured spearhead with heavy assaults the units of the 796th is often used in anti-guerilla operations in desert or mountain environments. Using a tan or brown armour scheme to blend in with their operating zones to turn hostile environments against local forces that thought the home advantage would be the defeat of the 796th. Their colours are often replicated on their armoured vehicles, allowing them to carry out deadly ambushes even while encased in several inches of thick durasteel plating.
The 617th was a Battalion that was drafted into the Revanite Conflict near the begining, briefly seeing deployment on Rishi and then on Yavin 4. Though they were almost entirely wiped out as a force madness spread through their ranks, unleashed by a damaged tomb during the conflict. In honour of their duty until the end the Battalion was refounded with the same identity as the previous and the once temporary jungle scheme they had worn instead became permenant, alongside an orange circle on one shoulder guard to represent Yavin. The 617th now keep extra suits of jungle and forest armour in their arsenal and encourage units fighting with them to use the dark green to fight in dense vegetation. They've proven that their choice of colours can be deadly effective in night fighting as well.
The 359th is often seen as the lesser known and less honoured sister unit to the Armageddon Battalion, as during the Galactic War they spent almost the entire conflict in the Core Worlds, fighting in heavily urbanised environemts. In the years since they have kept the dirty grey they adopted in the previous conflicts. They often attribute this, quite grimly, to it being the ashes of the corrupt Republic. A strong piece of propaganda, though the morbid method of delivery used by members of the Regiment often unnerves allied units. Though the colours none the less remain effective for urban warfare, as when buildings start collapsing the layer of dust they leave behind adds a further layer of camouflage, suited perfectly to their standard role of scouting targets for nearby armoured units.
