What the Sith Have Lost

A treatise by Lord Saltaeon, Sith Warrior and Envoy of War
"The Sith are the greatest conquerors and warriors in the galaxy, our existence is fueled by hatred and the need to destroy the Jedi. Long ago our war was waged in silence and from the dark, when the Republic thought we were extinct. We were patient then, with our manipulation civilisations changed course and war fractured the Republic for decades, new Sith Lords came to take the attention of the Jedi, all while we made ready. Until 28 years before Coruscant, we were gone from the galaxy, and when we returned we waged the most bloody campaign across the outer and mid rims the galaxy has ever seen, and likely will know the likes of it again. In the Tingle Arm there was a resounding Imperial victory against a shocked Republic. Aparo was assaulted and joined the Empire. The Republic ship yards at Sluis Van were destroyed. Republic supply lines on the Rimma Trade Route were strangled. A score of Imperial victories in the Minos Cluster. Seswenna, Rattatak, Lenico IV, Gegeren, Balmorra, Hoth, the Hydian Way, Ziost, Ashas Rae, Serenno, Ord Radama, Druckenwell, and more. All these worlds fell to the Sith through our power. It took the Republic nearly 15 years to offer substantial push back, and that came at Alderaan, the very core of the galaxy was threatened before the Republic really started to fight back.
And yet the Great Galactic War ended in a truce, Coruscant burned and we withdrew. For all the Sith that were present in that attack, with the Jedi Order nearly wiped from the galaxy, we withdrew. This is the first great sin of the old Sith Emperor, he abandoned the war when it was nearly done, when our purpose in the galaxy was nearly complete. Vititate betrayed the Empire at that time, but the Sith that ruled during that period were strong. And that is what we have lost, the strength found in our predecessors has been diluted and forgotten, we now live in an era where we survive instead of conquer. During the Cold War and the Galactic War, figures walked among the Sith that shook our order to it's core, they shaped the galaxy because they willed it. And that is gone now."

"On the outset of the Galactic War, the Empire invaded Corellia under the leadership of Darth Decimus with the assistance of Darth Acharon and Darth Hadra, all veterans of the Dark Council. Also present were countless other Sith from the Spheres of Military Strategy, Offense, Technology, Biotic Science and beyond, as well as multiple Generals of the Imperial Army, a whole fleet under the command of a Grand Admiral, elite infantry divisions, Mandalorians, the Imperial Guard and even the Emepror's Wrath. Corellia was in Imperial hands after bitter fighting, the Government and Corperate districts fell, and the entire transport system was seized. Darth Decimus struck with so much fury that the Republic had no chance of repelling the attack, the force so overwhelming that even Corellia's own government came to the Empire. And then a terrible blow came, after the death of Darth Decimus the Imperial forces were left with no clear leader, and the other two Dark Councillors fell shortly after. And then Malgus betrayed the Empire at Ilum.
The Empire was close to victory, so close that we were once again in the core worlds, and for all the strength that Darth Decimus held he was not enough. Though his actions on Corellia show a vital lesson, he was strong enough to hold together all aspects of the Imperial Military that were present on the planet. Even discounting Corellia, the Sith during this time were bold enough to launch attacks all across the Republic: Rabaan, Belsavis, the Foundry, Kalandis. Open war across the Galaxy, the Republic pushed to its limits as it fights on all fronts. And an era of betrayal leads to a decline.

On Ilum, Malgus the Betrayer showed his true colours. He declared a new Empire, open to all who wished conquest, it would be free of infighting and the apathy of Emperor Vititate. Malgus had been at the front of the war since Korriban, he was not a commander rather he was a leader of sorts. And he had strength none could deny. He brought down the Jedi Temple. He saw the end of the Jedi as his goal, he committed resources to more battles than most other Sith combined and was responsible for enough death to make an ocean on Coruscant from blood. But all he saw was the war and the Jedi, he did not understand the Empire and it's need to survive. He wanted an Empire without the Dark Council, an Empire with open acceptance for aliens and mercenaries and pirates. Malgus wanted war without order, just the chaos that allows the Dark Side to grow. And that was his defeat, he defended himself with untested aliens and Mandalorians. He betrayed the Empire because he claimed the Empire grew too weak, so he abandoned one if it's strongest qualities to make his new Empire weaker, and hurt the Sith Empire in the process. For all his conquest and his power, he could not see that.
So the Empire wasted efforts on Illum, had lost five Dark Councillors and a secret weapon. Where did that leave us? With war ongoing, the Empire could not afford weakness so one Sith managed to hold onto power and gave the Empire leadership. Darth Marr. He rallied Imperial forces and prevented the Republic from pushing into Imperial space, it was his forces that came out on top at Leritor and Boranall. Darth Marr would later go on to authorise attacks on Kuat and the death of the Dread Masters. Darth Marr willed the war continue and so it did, despite a weakened Empire, he gave it the leadership required. His willpower and dedication continued the war for another few years where other Sith would have torn it apart.

Darth Marr continued in his role as de facto leader through the conflict with the Hutt Cartel and then the Revanite Crisis. The threat of Revan left the Empire weakened due to the treachery of Sith who had no chance of advancement within the Empire so they abandoned it out of a cowardly fear. And for all the strength possessed by Marr, the Eternal Empire claimed his life. This resulted in a period of cease fire, Empress Acina used this period to remove her rivals and reduce the Dark Council from twelve seats to five. In the aftermath of Acina's rise she ensured that almost no Sith in the Empire could challenge her. And nearly destroyed the Empire in the process, she may have been safe but the Empire was nearly toothless. When the Third Galactic War broke out major efforts were made to seize important star systems, all in preparation for another invasion of Corellia. And it failed. When Darth Decimus attacked Corellia he had the backing of some of the strongest Sith in the Empire and maintained a grasp on it for months. And this recent attack, with the aid of Malgus the Betrayer, was repelled entirely with too many Sith dying and Malgus going missing in the aftermath.
Not long ago the Sith conquered the galaxy, led by Decimus, Marr, Vengean, Mortis, Ravage, and others worthy of respect. Now the Sith Order has been weakened and misled, the Empire has lost too many leaders. Note that I use the word leader and not rulers, because that is what we lost, we lost the Sith willing to lead us, willing to give everything for the Empire. Too many Sith now lack what is required for this war; confidence, dedication, will, and power. Now I look at my peers, and nearly half of them are instead meek and self-focused, and they stop at strength. I will not claim that the Sith of this era are not strong, many of them are as strong as I or more so, but strength is not enough. Strength must be moulded into power, and with power then victory can be achieved. You cannot skip one step of the code, only with the full code can victory be achieved. I hope those that read this think of what I've said, we are in unprecedented times that must be met with iron will and the desire to keep pushing, to keep at our enemies throats. Enemies inside and out. At the very end of this, I state my intention; I will not be one of the Sith that lost what it meant to fight in the war, against the Jedi and the Republic, I welcome my duty with open arms. I turn my efforts to the eradication of the Empire's, and Darth Horuset's, enemies; both seen and unseen. I am wrath, I am hate, I am fury.
And peace is a lie."

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
