The Compendium of Traditionalism

The questions around traditionalism have mounted as the years have passed. Across the Sith Empire, pockets of this doctrine have grown distant from one another as different sects have moved in different directions after the death of the old Sith Emperor saw his enforced censors removed. All were targeted by the rise of the human Empress Acnina and most held strong, only to be relieved as Emperor Vowrawn now sits the throne and cares not to try and eradicate or bolster the doctrine that will save his species.

These differences have seen the emergence of some traditionalists focusing on different eras of Sith history, believing that their brand of traditionalism is superior to the rest. Meanwhile others try to adopt a combination of different aspects from every era of documented Sith history and name it all tradition, regardless of whether such aspects are two hundred years old or twenty thousand with no sense to the irony of their desires.

As a result, this Compendium will serve to unify these disparate factions across the Sith Empire that have emerged as the censors lifted. It will serve to solidify traditionalism into subjects of what it is and not merely what it opposes. It will serve the Sith of the Sith Empire headed by Emperor Vowrawn, to not only follow traditionalism but to see it flourish in the modern era. It will serve to guide the Sith to the preservation of our heritage.

Writing of traditionalism without first documenting the historical context in which it became prevalent is impossible. As such, the Compendium will begin with a complete account of Sith history of importance to the traditionalist. Split into three Eras, a traditionalist must start with the very beginning of recorded history before continuing on all the way to the modern day.

The History of the Sith is long, stretching back tens of thousands of years of documented history to the times of King Adas, the Kissai, Massassi and Zuguruk. The rise, consolidation and fall of his Sith Kingdom was the first unification of all Sith, but it was not to last. After the death of King Adas as he defended the newly ruined Korriban from what we now know to be Rakatan invaders, the factions splintered and did not come together once again for over twenty thousand years. King Adas’ great gift to the Sith was spaceflight, having taken Rakatan starships and thus began the first expansion of the Sith out into the Stygian Caldera. Such first expansions saw the colonisation of the Sith Holy Worlds with Ziost, Khar Delba, Rhelg and Krayiss joining Korriban to make the five we know today. Ziost became the most populous planet of Sith, many fleeing desolated Korriban and leaving behind only the most zealous.

With no King of All Sith to unify them, the civil wars of the Sith lasted for thousands of years.

Some twenty thousand years later, Dathka Graush began his unification of Korriban. Already the Sith were spread out across the Stygian Caldera, separate tribes that had no central authority, merely chieftains, priests and warlords ruling over what cities and territories they could. Petty kings of petty kingdoms. Such began to change with Dathka Graush, who orchestrated a grand campaign of unification on Korriban, the homeworld of the Sith. Korriban’s cities burned under his war machine, population centres were eradicated and in the great unification of Dathka Graush Korriban too died once again. Dathka Graush became king of the ashes, unification through eradication, his campaign described by historians as brutal beyond measure even by the standards of both historic and modern Sith. Dathka Graush conquered two thirds of Korriban, before his demise.

Yet it was Hakagram Graush, not Dathka Graush, that would unify the Sith once more. Something that had not happened in totality since the days of King Adas. Proclaimed as King of all Korriban first before cementing his rule across all Sith, Hakagram Graush did not continue the unquantifiable destruction of Dathka Graush. The new Sith King built palaces on Ziost despite Korriban being his homeworld and ruled from that world, making it the capital of his new Sith Kingdom. Ziost had long since been the cultural heartlands of all Sith and the infrastructure of Empire was built upon the world, beginning a reign that looked like it would bring about a golden age of the Sith. Of the Kissai, Massassi and Zuguruk.

And thus it was that the Jen’jidai, the Exiles, came to Korriban. Finding not disparate and separate tribes strewn across dozens of worlds as they had been for thousands of years, but a unified Sith Peoples. The Last Sith Kingdom.The Exiles. Twelve of them there were and of most note are Ajunta Pall, XoXaan, Remulus Dreypa, Karness Murr and Sorzus Syn. So it was that Sorzus Syn guided the Exiles through the Stygian Caldera, that nebula that had shrouded Sith Civilisation since the first city was built, and came to the legendary planet of Korriban. As the Jen’jidai landed, their mastery of the Dark Side was found to be profound and immense, with the local populations of Korriban subdued by their power near immediately.

When word reached Sith King Hakagram Graush on Ziost of their arrival, his first decree was to see them disallowed. While the Sith Populace were all Force Sensitive, not all were trained to use that power. What knowledge was had was kept away from the Exiles, lest they use it against the Sith King. The leader of the exiles Ajunta Pall desired such knowledge above all others, for while the Exiles had mastery of the Dark Side incomparable, the Sith species had rituals, sorcery and alchemy beyond what was understood. Unable to force them from the Stygian Caldera, Hakagram Graush devoted what time he had to keep the Exiles away from the heart of his Sith Kingdom and kept them out of his existing power structures. They would have remained as outsiders looking in, if the Sith King had gotten his way.

Yet, the power of the Jen’jidai could not be overcome. It took only standard weeks for them to make an alliance with Hakagram Graush’s Shadow Hand, his second-in-command. Through this Shadow Hand’s betrayal did the Exiles infiltrate and undermine. Making their way to Ziost as the capital of the Sith Kingdom and the moment that Ajunta Pall came face to face with Hakagram Graush, did he behead the Sith King with his own warsword.

Thus ended the Era of the Sith Kings.

The Exiles were heralded as gods for their power. Ajunta Pall, slayer of Sith King Hakagram Graush and leader of the Exiles was anointed not as a Sith King of old, but as Jen’Ari. The first Dark Lord of the Sith. The populace saw Ajunta Pall as a true manifestation of Typhojem, the Left-Handed God, and others of the Exiles were quickly equated to one of the Sith Gods or the other. Ajunta Pall proclaimed all eleven of the other Jen’jidai as his Shadow Hands, each given near unlimited power and each proclaimed as a Lord of the Sith with their own systems as fiefs.

The infrastructure of the old Sith Kingdom remained on Ziost and Ajunta Pall took it all, reforging the old Kingdom into the first Sith Empire. The palace of Graush was built over and a new Sith Citadel rose in its place. From this Sith Citadel did the Jen’ari and his Shadow Hands meet, forming the first Council of Sith Lords. Once more did the centre of power within Sith civilisation remain on Ziost, not Korriban, and with such greatness did the Sith Empire expand, bringing forth new subjects. Sith civilisation entered a great period of upheaval where political power, the Dark Side, the caste systems of old and our species changed dramatically.

It is only now, with the emergence of the Sith Empire headed by the first Jen’ari and his eleven Shadow Hands, did the Sith Order begin to take shape. Each of the Jen’jidai contributed to the creation of the Sith Order, taking time to formalise the teachings of the Sith species and combine it with the techniques of dark power that the Jen’jidai had brought with them. Sorzus Syn created the Sith Code, and fiefdom based centres of formal learning sprung up so that each Lord of the Sith who ruled their own fiefs could teach, curate and ultimately empower their Sith subjects to serve them in greater ways than any had before. Explorations of Sith Sorcery and Sith Alchemy were formalised, no longer purely oral rites or mystic rituals but studied to understand the secrets of how they worked and how they could be put to other purposes. The creativity of the Sith species was documented and began to be passed down from generation to generation. The hierarchy of governance no longer sat within a caste system but within the hierarchy of the Sith Order as a whole.

And so it was that in these nascent years of the Sith Empire that humanity came to the Stygian Caldera en masse, a large minority population forming. Some conquered outright from outlying systems, some enslaved directly, others fled to the Stygian Caldera, choosing life within the Sith Empire. Yet unlike all other alien species, humanity was seen as different. The Jen’jidai were humans who ruled the Sith species and as a result, not all of humanity were enslaved. The Sith Army, Sith Navy and the Sith Mineralogical Corps along with other institutions saw humanity fill their ranks. Bolstering the numbers of the burgeoning Sith Empire.

In the decades that passed as humanity began to be present within the Sith Empire, did the Sith species itself change. Through Sith Alchemy, genetic manipulation and cross-breeding did four species become one, the Sith Pureblood. Kissai, Zuguruk, Massassi and Humanity all coalesced to create the Pureblood as we understand them today. Taking the strengths of each and the weaknesses of none, the Pureblood was the refined, perfected, Sith species with primacy and dominion over all. The strength of the Massassi, the aptitude of the Zuguruk, the power over the Dark Side of the Kissai and the swift breeding of humanity, all such did the Pureblood inherit. The Pureblood Sith became dominant throughout the Sith Empire, even as smaller enclaves of Kissai, Massassi and Zuguruk alike still existed, beginning to be pushed to the far corners of civilisation. The pureblood continued the divine inheritance of all Sith species, each of their number being force sensitive.

Not all of the Jen’jidai were content to rule the newly forged Sith Empire. Seeking greatness not through ruling but through continued conquest did Remulus Deypa leave the Stygian Caldera. He took with him his closest supporters amongst both humanity and of the Sith species and did not return. His desire for vengeance against the Republic and the Jedi that exiled him far greater than any desire to rule a new world, far away from the trappings of power that he had become accustomed to before his exile. Such a decision echoed down the centuries and millennia that passed through the Era. The decision to remain and rule versus striking out against who we now know to be the eternal enemy.

And as the decades stretched and became millenia, did the Sith Pureblood continue the legacy of the first Jen’Ari. Ajunta Pall died of mortality itself, not to betrayal or deceit and was buried in the Valley of the Sleeping Kings, which became known as the Valley of the Dark Lords. Half-Breeds of Sith Purebloods and Humanity became commonplace in high positions and the governing structure of a Jen’ari ruling with ten Lords of the Sith as his Council did continue unbroken for two thousand years.

The reign of Marka Ragnos some two thousand years later was the Golden Age of the Sith. It began with the then Lord Marka Ragnos facing Lord Simus, each battling each other in true Sith combat for the throne and to be proclaimed Jen’ari. Just as with Ajunta Pall thousands of years previous, neither Marka Ragnos nor Lord Simus killed their predecessor. They too died of mere mortality. Marka Ragnos defeated Lord Simus, beheading him and claimed the seat of power for himself. So it is said by historians that Lord Simus however did not die. His head was preserved and despite the lack of a body, servants attended him and soon enough Lord Simus was proclaimed as one of the ten Sith Lords of Marka Ragnos’ own Council, which he served on faithfully for the rest of his life. Now ruling the Sith Empire, Marka Ragnos kept his adversaries busy fighting each other and with the ruling of their own fiefs so that none could ever gain enough power to threaten his throne. 

The emergence of the Pureblood was long since complete and with it came a resurgence of Sith culture. Sith Purebloods of stature would adorn themselves with golden metals and the finest cloth, prestige and power on full display. Great monuments sprung up in far more quantity and quality than any other Sith King or Dark Lord had ever achieved. The historical documentation of Marka Ragnos’ reign far exceeds even that of Ajunta Pall or Ragnos’ own successor Naga Sadow. Ruling from Ziost, Marka Ragnos was a Half-breed of the perfected Sith Pureblood and humanity of the direct line of one of the Jen’jidai. Many of the positions of his court were filled with Half-breeds. Artefacts from his era are their own calibre, some more powerful than even the most ancient of creations that have survived in one form or another to this day. Those of power did not gain it idly and with such a burgeoning population did challenges for every advancement become commonplace. Only the strongest emerged victorious, no honour duels for the sake of a bloodied blade. Each fight was for power, prestige and position. A renowned Sorcerer and powerful beyond compare in the force, Marka Ragnos did not die upon the blade of a successor but to mortality itself as his predecessor and also the founder of the Sith Empire did. 

To such heights was Marka Ragnos power that at his own funeral upon the hallowed sands of Korriban, as Naga Sadow and Ludo Kressh began to duel, that he emerged. A Force Spirit of great power and immense stature spoke to his Council and those gathered of a glorious past and a future yet decided. That whomever was to succeed him must be worthy of the Throne that he had reigned from for a century. As Marka Ragnos’ spirit faded, the fated duel between Naga Sadow the apprentice of Lord Simus and Ludo Kressh ceased entirely, interrupted. 

A ship from the wider galaxy, landed amidst the funeral. Out of it came Republic Explorers at the head of what was now a newly discovered hyperlane linking the Stygian Caldera to the very heart of the Republic, halfway across the galactic disc. Ludo Kressh and Naga Sadow saw the same opportunity and developed completely opposing strategies. Ludo Kressh professed that the Sith Empire must continue its isolation as Ajunta Pall to Marka Ragnos had intended and shore up the defenses of the Empire to thwart a potential invasion. Naga Sadow, ever the opportunist, proclaimed that this new hyperlane leading to the heart of the Republic was the prime opportunity that the Sith had been waiting for, for two thousand years. He proclaimed that the Sith Empire must invade the Republic first, to destroy it and its Jedi protectors entirely. To claim the galaxy as their own, as Remulus Dreypa had desired.

Before either Sith Lord could claim supremacy, the Republic seemingly attacked. Historians of our modern empire have debated whether this was truly a Republic attack or if either Ludo Kressh or Naga Sadow falsified the attack to shore up their own powerbase. The attack was thwarted regardless. At an undecided stalemate, a short interregnum began between Ludo Kressh and Naga Sadow. Naga Sadow secured the Republic Explorers and outwitted Ludo Kressh, seeing Kressh attack one of Sadow’s strongholds on Khar Delba and being defeated outright, his flagship was destroyed and Kressh himself killed.

With Ludo Kressh dead, Naga Sadow was now unopposed. He claimed the position of Jen’ari, of Dark Lord of the Sith, and sat the throne of the Sith Empire within the ancient Sith Citadel on Ziost. His decree was clear, the Sith Empire would make war on the Galactic Republic. The mobilisation for the Great Hyperspace War was upon the Empire, the Golden Age of the Sith was ended.

The Great Hyperspace War is well documented by both our Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic. Naga Sadow led Sith Forces against the Galactic Republic on a string of great victories, bringing the heartlands of the Republic to their knees. It was only when Naga Sadow’s conjured illusionary forces waned that the Republic was able to refocus on the true Sith Fleet and defeat it, sending Naga Sadow and his remnants back to Korriban. High in orbit over Korriban, Ludo Kressh revealed himself anew.

Ludo Kressh had feigned his death, he was not aboard his flagship that had been destroyed in the attack on Khar Delba. The First Battle of Korriban began in orbit between the remnants of Naga Sadow’s marshalled fleet and Ludo Kressh’s loyalists where Ludo Kressh gained the momentum. On the cusp of defeat, Naga Sadow sent one of his damaged vessels to make a suicidal charge at Kressh’s new flagship. Unable to stop the ship from colliding with his own, Ludo Kressh died in orbit of Korriban. What tattered remains there were of both fleets, were unable to stop what was to come.

The Second Battle of Korriban began just as the first was decided. Galactic Republic forces had followed Naga Sadow’s warfleet back to Korriban and began an engagement that devastated the final remnants of the mobilised forces of the Sith Empire. Seeing his defeat all but assured, modern historians can recognise that Naga Sadow fled the battle and made his way to the forest moon of Yavin IV. His crew became his sole subjects, his Massassi soldiers modified with alchemy. New temples were constructed on the moon in the old styles of the Golden Age of the Sith yet never reached their lofty heights and there were no new generations that followed Sadow in his exile. The remnants of his alchemised Massassi forces became tribalistic, returning to the way of life of their ancestors from thousands of years previous.

The Second Battle of Korriban was lost. Lord Shar Dakhan became acting Dark Lord of the Sith after Naga Sadow fled and marshalled together the remnants of the Sith Forces. The Galactic Republic retreated from Sith Space entirely, giving a brief moment of reprieve, under the final onslaught of Shar Dakhan’s fireships. Foreseeing the destruction of the Sith Empire, the figure who would become the Old Sith Emperor first stepped into galactic history.

The Old Sith Emperor still had a fleet and came to Korriban, his having remained uncommitted to Naga Sadow, Ludo Kressh or even to fight the Republic. He marshalled together a great migratory armada, every ship that could fly became part of his domain and across the Sith Empire the news spread fast that the Empire will fall and the fleet was the only safe haven left. Those who left with the Sith Emperor, would become the first subjects of our own Sith Empire while those who remained out of zeal, stubbornness or an inability to join him, perished.

And so the Republic Fleet returned. Shar Dakhan led what was left of the Sith Empire in a defiant last gasp of the era of the Dark Lords. The Galactic Republic had debated the issue of the Sith Empire and while had found the remnants unthreatening, decided a campaign of genocide was the only course to stop a new Empire to rise from the ashes of the old. Supreme Chancellor Pultimo, a hated foe, authorised the counterinvasion and its scope. The Sith Empire crumbled, descending into petty fiefs that warred against one another with disease, famine and ritual mass-suicides as commonplace. Shar Dakhan was killed, the great cities and planets of the Sith were destroyed and eradicated. The culture of the Sith was nearly extinguished, the great relics of tens of thousands of years of civilisation were destroyed or taken. Those who survived the genocide, the disease, the famine regressed to small wandering tribes. For it was not merely Korriban that was targeted, it was all worlds within the Stygian Caldera that came under the attack of the Galactic Republic. The old capital, Ziost, was abandoned entirely. Republic warships bombarded from orbit while bombers flew through the skies of our hallowed planets. On the ground, joint Republic and Jedi armies at best killed all they came across or at worst, severed entire communities of their force sensitivity. Leaving them to die slowly generationally, unable to sustain themselves without access to their divine inheritance. Holy sites that had been revered for centuries for their innate power of the Dark Side were destroyed, the power that dwelt there dimmed or extinguished by the eternal enemy. The structures torn down, cities burned.

Twenty thousand years of Sith culture was eradicated. The Sith species near extinct and scattered. The Sith Empire that had existed for two thousand years was destroyed. The Era of the Dark Lords was over.

The Sith Exodus Armada. In ironic alignment to the last Sith Empire being founded by exiles, now our own modern Sith Empire would be founded in the same circumstances. The Sith Worlds, the Stygian Caldera, was lost. It is now known that the Old Sith Emperor gathered Sith Lords of note and power to the world of Nathema, some eight thousand, and in a ritual of great magnitude they were all killed. Through such a ritual, the Old Sith Emperor gained his immortality and he returned to his Exodus Fleet renewed, becoming the Immortal Sith Emperor that would come to rule our Empire for nearly a thousand years. Yet for the first twenty years, the great Sith Exodus Armada wandered between the stars, ensuring that the Galactic Republic was never aware of their existence. Those that may have challenged the Old Sith Emperor internally were dead and a new generation grew up on his ships, knowing only loyalty to the shadowy figure who was now their Emperor, who had saved them from extinction.

Dromund Kaas. For twenty years did the Sith Exodus Armada search for this lost colony of the Sith. A colony that had been untouched by the Old Sith Empire at its zenith and as a result, was never reached by the Galactic Republic. When the Armada refound the system, the Old Sith Emperor proclaimed it as the new capital of the Reconstituted Sith Empire and work began in earnest towards a single goal. A generational goal that took a thousand years to reach, the return of the Sith Empire to the galactic stage so that we may make war against the Republic and claim the stars for ourselves. 

For the first time in Sith history, the majority of the population that made up our domain was not Force Sensitive. In the Age of Sith Kings and of the Dark Lords, Kissai, Massassi, Zuguruk and later the Purebloods and Half-breeds were all force sensitive. Most were an untrained mass in the ways of the force, with only those of prestige or significant bloodline becoming part of the Sith Order. Now, there was a paltry number of Sith Purebloods, Half-Breeds and force sensitive humans compared to a vast majority of humans who had made up soldiery positions within the Old Sith Empire. The divine inheritance that showed our great strength within the Dark Side had grown thin, now there was no surplus of force sensitives. Now it was not a matter of picking only those of prestige to join the Sith Order, but all citizens who were force sensitive would be forced to become Sith or die in the training. Sith Steel Warswords were not remade, Lightsabers becoming the common weapon of the Sith Order where in the last Empire a Sith could have wielded a Sith Steel Sword or a lightsaber interchangeably. It was now that the Dark Council was formed, twelve seats for twelve Spheres. All under the watch of the Old Sith Emperor.

For those without force sensitivity, each and every one of them were conscripted into the fledgling Imperial Military. Soldiers, engineers, scientists, architects, there was no citizen in the Sith Empire who was not part of the military. Those of great ability, experience and zeal took up the higher ranks with one among them being the first Grand Moff, Odile Vaiken. The bedrock of our Sith Empire was founded in these first few years on Dromund Kaas. The Military was trained hard and ground was cleared through the culling of the wilderness creatures for the creation of the Reconstituted Sith Empire’s first and greatest territory, Kaas City. It is said that Vaiken himself killed a Terentatek on the site of what would become the very centre of governance within our Empire, the new Imperial Citadel at the heart of Kaas City.

It is here that a linguistic change occurs. Where before the word ‘Sith’ referred to near all none-slaves within the Sith Kingdoms and the Old Sith Empire, now it came to only refer to those of Force Sensitivity. Those who ruled the Sith Empire as a whole and were part of the Sith Order. Likewise did the Sith Pureblood become known as a ‘Pureblood’, to further the distinction between population, nationality, species and the force sensitive ruling class. A citizen without the force was not considered a Sith, but an Imperial Citizen of the Sith Empire. This led in the generations to come for the Sith of the Reconstituted Sith Empire to be considered godlike by their Imperial subordinates. The caste systems of old being discarded in favour of a clear system of power. Sith, whether Pureblood, Half-breed or Human, at the peak. Imperial Citizens, humans in totality, the workforce of an Empire. The slaves, aliens or prisoners, the labourers who toil in the dark never to see the stars.

In these early years the population of the Reconstituted Sith Empire was relatively tiny. Government programs, mandated marriages, ancestry alignments, all such were tools by our government in these fledgling days to ensure that our Empire would have a sizable and stable population in the generations to come. Sith were encouraged to find matches within their own Order, to breed the next generation of Force Sensitives while Imperials were expected to have large families to ensure each generation was significantly larger than the last. This led to Sith Blood, traced back to the Kissai, Zuguruk and Massassi, being prevalent amongst even the non-force sensitive human population within the Empire.

In the Old Sith Empire, where humanity was the minority and the population as a whole was near entirety force sensitive, the bloodlines of power followed the original Jen’jidai Exiles of old. It was prestigious to be born and to display traits of humanity gained from your Jen’jidai Exile ancestor. The likes of Marka Ragnos, Naga Sadow and Ludo Kressh were all Half-breeds who traced their lineage back to one of the original twelve Jen’jidai headed by Ajunta Pall. This belief that these traits were what showed power only lasted for a generation within our own Reconstituted Sith Empire, despite that they had persisted for two thousand years in the last Empire. This change came about, because the ‘power of population’ had flipped. No longer was humanity the minority. It had become those of purity, those who displayed the red skin of the Pureblood. No longer was the whole population force sensitive and what set you apart was your ancestry of power from a Dark Jedi. Now, the population was mostly non-force sensitive and what sets you apart, is if you are force sensitive to begin with. With such population changes and those of purity still gifted with generational force sensitivity, the ruling class and what they were expected to look like flipped. The traits of the Sith, of the Pureblood, became desirable. Their rarity to the population as a whole and the clear connection between them and force sensitivity ensured that for the rest of Sith history that the Pureblood was seen as power incarnate.

Purity of blood became important in the opposite way. Not for Jen’jidai exile ancestry, but for Sith markings of the Pureblood. The Pureblood population became semi-noble, generational force sensitivity giving families generations of Sith who would claim power at the highest levels of society. This led ultimately to some of their accrued knowledge and holdings being passed down through their descendents, creating powerbases and houses of purity that in turn created stability across the Empire. This stability saw an increase in the Pureblood population generation on generation, despite the tax that they suffered from infighting and the gruelling training of what it meant to become a Sith within the Sith Order. The Pureblood population, because of their generational force sensitivity, is the only population within the Sith Empire that will always suffer the tax of some of their number dying to the training towards becoming a Sith.

The Sith Religion of the varied planetary Pantheons that had held its primacy during the age of the Sith Kings, was put under censor. Pushed down by the Old Sith Emperor in favour of worship of his immortal reign. In its stead, amongst the Imperial population of the Sith Empire grew the belief that gods walked among them and those gods are the Sith. When a non-force sensitive family produced an heir capable of using the force, the family was thrust to the near top of society as a result of this divine intervention. Over the centuries, the pantheon was forgotten, worship of the Sith Order as a whole was paramount and the Old Sith Emperor was treated as the most holy unseen yet ever living head of this new religion. The Sith Order and its doctrine as instituted by those first Jen’jidai exiles and carried into our Empire made it clear that worship of a higher being amongst the Sith was at odds with everything they are taught. That to worship something else is to put yourself second, which is at odds with all Sith doctrine and what the Sith Code itself speaks of. 

The Sith Culture of old was in turn abandoned as well. While not censored, it was seen as derelict and the Reconstituted Sith Empire needed a culture centered on survival, austerity and vengeance. A new centralised culture sprung up from the ashes of the old, the Imperial culture of the Sith Empire. Clothing and styling changed, influenced heavily by humanity and the environments of Dromund Kaas. The way war was conducted became one of soldiers wielding blaster rifles instead of warriors wielding blades and mauls. The flamboyant golds and reds of the old handcrafted armour was left to the wayside in exchange for full suits of uniform heavy armour. Technology advanced faster than it ever had before in all of the history of the Sith. Fiefs, the caste system, everything that had persisted was changed and modernised to suit the needs of the Reconstituted Sith Empire in its singular goal of bringing war to the Galactic Republic. 

Generations passed. Hundreds of years. Our Sith Empire stood within a few decades of being ready to return to the galaxy at large. The Galactic Republic believed the Sith Empire to be gone and dead. They retreated out of the Stygian Caldera as a whole except for a single outpost they kept in orbit of Korriban. The holy worlds of the Sith, dozens of colonies, were abandoned and barren. Populations that had been in the billions were reduced to at best scattered tribes of dozens and at worst eradicated entirely. Pirates, vagrants, smugglers, and dark sided pretenders, each of them claimed a patch of these worlds in the absence of the True Sith. Thirty One years before the return of the Sith Empire to the galaxy at large, Darth Ikoral asked a boon of the Dark Council. Granted it, he took his flagship the ‘Red Reaper’ out of the bounds of the Sith Empire, for he believed above all in the superiority of the Pureblood and found them lacking in number. He successfully sought out Pureblood communities that had survived the Galactic Republic’s genocide but had not joined the Sith Exodus Armada. His return however was seventy years later, the Sith Empire in the middle of the Cold War and on his return, he found the Reconstituted Sith Empire changed. Appalled, he attacked both the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire and was killed by Republic Forces. Darth Ikoral believed in the preservation and superiority of the Sith Pureblood at all costs, yet did not seek a return of the old Religion or Culture from generations passed. To him, even the keeping of alien slaves was an affront, it noted that none within his household were aliens.

Our Empire returned to the galactic stage. The Galactic Republic was caught off guard and the Great Galactic War began. The Sith Empire surged out of Dromund Kaas and recolonised much of the Stygian Caldera while waging war on the Republic across the Outer Rim. Ziost was reclaimed, the Sith Citadel of old remained abandoned but now of interest to the Imperial Reclamation Service while a new city, New Adrasta, was founded to serve as Ziost’s capital. Korriban was under Sith control once more and a Sith Academy that had been planned for generations built atop the ruins of the old. On dozens of other worlds across the Stygian Caldera, the story was much the same. A new frontier was open and populations that had been prepared for colonisation returned back to the ancient Sith worlds of old. Imperial Citizen human populations, headed by force sensitive humans and Purebloods. In the early years of the Great Galactic War however, doctrine changed. Where before it had only been those of Sith Blood ancestry who would be trained to become Sith, now the door was opened further. As the Sith Empire conquered innumerable worlds across the galaxy, humans of no Sith blood lineage and aliens who were discovered to be force sensitive were dragged to a Sith Academy to be trained as a Sith. No longer were the highest positions in society only for those of Sith blood. The pragmatism of needing more numerous Sith to wage war against the Republic won the very moment the established order was tested. The superiority of the Sith Empire, of the Sith Order, had become more important than the superiority of Sith blood. Humans who had no Sith blood were treated the same as those who did. Aliens, who had for tens of thousands of years of Sith history only been used for slaves now could become Sith. It was to this Sith Empire, that Darth Ikoral returned and was appalled by. It was to this Sith Empire, that Darth Ikoral attacked, believing it had abandoned the values of seventy years previous.

For the first forty one years of the Sith Empire’s resurgence into the rest of the galaxy, aliens had admittance only into the Sith Order. Yet if they were not force sensitive, they would remain as slave labourers or at best indentured servants, they were not permitted to become an Imperial Citizen. As the Great Galactic War ended with the Treaty of Coruscant and the Cold War that followed it in turn ended to begin the Second Galactic War, the Battle of Ilum took place. The Sith Empire was faced with manpower shortages after four decades of fighting first the Republic and then internally amongst itself. The Battle of Ilum saw Darth Malgus split from the Sith Empire, creating a civil war over Ilum that resulted in an Imperial victory, but at great cost. The Sith Empire got what it desired from Ilum, crystals, but its army and navy was so depleted that the next step in opening the door further had to take place. Aliens across the Sith Empire were permitted to join the Imperial Military as frontline soldiers as a route to earn citizenship within the Sith Empire. This saw a surge of recruits as alien slaves and servants took up the offer, becoming soldiers to fight for the Sith Empire. Some slaves would have been born as a slave, their ancestors generationally slaves to the Empire from a conquest hundreds of years in the past. To them, the Sith Empire was all they had known and a chance to uplift themselves and fight was a better life than they had ever known. Now, if an alien was force sensitive it would be forced into the Sith Order and if it was not, it could become a citizen through military service. An alien may now even be born a citizen, if a parent had earned citizenship through service. The superiority of Sith blood was again pushed back, now an alien could be anywhere within Imperial society.

This degradation all happened under the long reign of the Old Sith Emperor. For long stretches of these centuries, was he silent. The great plan of attacking the Galactic Republic worked on by his underlings at his direction, but rarely his direct hand. Yet in these last few years, was it said that the Old Sith Emperor was killed by a Jedi Knight in the direct assault on Dromund Kaas itself at the start of the Second Galactic War. The Dark Council already ruled the Sith Empire directly by such a point, no great apparatus fell by the supposed death of the Immortal Sith Emperor. The war continued on, but now the machinations of the Old Sith Emperor became more clear and it showed that they no longer aligned with that of the Sith Empire that he had created. His death was false and through unknown means he made his way to Ziost. Ziost, recolonised forty five years previous, had become known as the Gateway to the Empire and a central trading hub. The Old Sith Emperor took control of the entire Imperial population and had them begin slaughtering one another. The Galactic Republic, first led by a group of Jedi and then a direct military force, invaded and were subsequently overtaken themselves. The full population of Ziost under his control, the Sith Emperor destroyed Ziost in what is now known to be a similar ritual to what he had conducted on Nathema to achieve his immortality a thousand years previous. With the loss of Ziost and the untethering of the Old Sith Emperor from the Sith Empire, his old censors on the Sith Culture and Sith Religion went unenforced. To the modern day, this gave the Sith Empire ten years to rediscover the history and heritage that the Old Sith Emperor had kept buried so that he could reforge the Reconstituted Sith Empire into the instrument of Sith vengeance that it became.

For a time, the Dark Council persisted against the Galactic Republic with no ruling monarch. Darth Marr led the Sith Empire as a ‘first among equals’ on the Dark Council. This changed when the Eternal Empire attacked and the Dark Council and the Sith Empire as a whole, were defeated. Of the old Dark Council, only Darth Vowrawn and Darth Acina survived and Acina became the second reigning monarch of our Empire, becoming the first Sith Empress. In the first five years of Empress Acina’s rule, the Sith Empire restructured and rebuilt its military might in secret. Twelve spheres became five, the Dark Council remade with five Councillors. A centralised core emerged as the human Empress Acina focused these five years on driving out what she perceived as dissenting doctrines and beliefs that would get in the way of destroying both Zakuul and the Republic. 

To that end, Empress Acina targeted the traditionalists of the Sith Empire. Anyone who could not accept the alien, anyone who could not accept her rule, anyone who would not hold their blade in check in peace with the Republic and Zakuul. In Empress Acina’s targeted policies, anyone who saw Sith blood as opposed to force sensitivity as a whole being the mark of superiority was an enemy. Traditionalism as a bloc was hard to crack, many within the Sith Empire held onto such beliefs in quiet even as they became increasingly unpopular. Yet even still more and more aliens flooded the ranks of the Empire in both the Sith Order and the Imperial Military. Entire powerbases were dismantled by Acina’s wishes, Houses destroyed and their centuries of accumulated grandeur redistributed to be used to rebuild the Sith Empire after five decades of constant war, ending in defeat at the hands of the Eternal Empire of Zakuul. Her vision for the Sith Empire was to drag it kicking and screaming into what she saw, as a new age.

Empress Acina, did not last long. She had been a Dark Councillor of the Sphere of Technology for only five years before she claimed the seat of Empress for her own and her time as Empress lasted only six. In those six years she saw the rebuilding of the Sith Empire after its defeat at the hands of the Eternal Empire and saw the Eternal Empire defeated in turn. Under her reign did war with the Galactic Republic resume openly after its half decade hiatus. The Empress that had made traditionalists her enemy died on Iokath, trying to claim old technology for the use of the Sith Empire. In her place, Darth Vowrawn ascended and became Emperor Vowrawn, the third monarch of our Sith Empire. He was the longest serving Dark Councillor in all the history of the Sith Empire, having led the Sphere of Production and Logistics for decades.

Emperor Vowrawn is the current Emperor of the Reconstituted Sith Empire. He is noted as neither a traditionalist or a progressive when it comes to matters of the old culture or religion. He has not furthered Empress Acina’s targeted doctrines against traditionalism but has neither overturned any of her policies nor pushed back against the degradation the Sith Empire has suffered since the resurgence back out to the wider galaxy. The Emperor is focused elsewhere, his gaze cast out towards ensuring the survival of the Sith Empire as an institution, not worrying for its heart. Such is the objective of the traditionalist, to preserve the heart of the Sith Empire so that when our victory is finalised the Empire that achieved it is one led by the True Sith.

The Quandry of Traditionalism:

With all of Sith history laid out as such, the traditionalist must ask themselves an important set of questions. Where do we draw the ideas of traditionalism from? How much stock do we put in the ancient Sith ideology over that of the Sith Order’s current doctrine? Is it emulation or preservation? Do we draw inspiration from the spattering histories we have of King Adas, King Dathka Graush or King Hakagram Graush? Or is it the Jen’jidai Ajunta Pall or the Half-breeds of Marka Ragnos, Naga Sadow or Ludo Kressh that we should aspire to preserve? And of our Reconstituted Sith Empire, should we look to the Old Sith Emperor, who pushed away these ancient histories? Or Darth Ikoral, who returned after seventy years and attacked the Sith Empire when it was no longer the same Sith Empire that he left?

Traditionalism today can be more than has ever been documented previously. In these chapters, the key tenants of traditionalism within the Reconstituted Sith Empire will be addressed in full to give the traditionalist the necessary breadth of knowledge that they require to persevere in a time when our ideology is being diluted from within and without.

Spoiler: The Cultures of our Ancestors:

The three eras of Sith History have three distinct cultures. The Era of the Sith Kings is of the Ancient Sith culture, a time of Kissai, Massassi and Zuguruk. The Era of the Dark Lords has the Sith culture, the times of the Jen’jidai, the primacy of lineage, isolationism and the emergence of the Pureblood and Half-breed. The Era of the Sith Emperors has the Imperial culture, an austere, authoritarian culture bent towards a single unified goal.

We in the modern day are of the Imperial culture. While there are planetary distinctions and variations, to say anything else or to say we have more in common with the Sith or Ancient Sith culture is ultimately ludicrous. Too much of these cultures have been lost and to attempt to emulate them in full is foolhardy. Adopting the clothing practises, the ways of living, of fighting, or trying to emulate the caste system of the Ancient Sith would be more pantomime and theatre than a true conversion. It would be insulting to our ancestors to mimic them without the full knowledge of who they were and why their culture did what it did.

The traditionalist must look beyond all to preserve and honour the Ancient Sith and Sith cultures. Findings must be documented and shared far and wide to ensure that the cultures of old are not forgotten in some treasury or tomb of a long dead Sith Lord. Historical accounts must be looked to and analysed, cross-referenced and preserved. While the traditionalist will not attempt to adopt either of these old cultures, displaying or using honorifics of them is a worthwhile investment. Such is a great tool to be used to spread the word of what came before. One would not wear the garb of the cultures of the past, but one should tailor or dye modern pieces to honour our forefathers. The armour worn in the time of the Sith Kings would not stand up in battle in the modern day, nor would the paltry coverage offered by the battlegarb of the Dark Lords era be suitable when faced with blaster fire. But one may name classes of droid or ships after those who came before as two of many examples. The traditionalist must honour, preserve and acknowledge the past cultures, but not adopt them.

Spoiler: The Sith Religions of Old:

Like culture, religion is also split into three distinct parts. The Era of the Sith Kings sees worship of the Sith Pantheons, the plethora of ever-changing gods from across Sith space, shifting from planet to planet. The era of the Dark Lords sees those untrained in the force worship the rulers of the Old Sith Empire as living gods, a doctrine started by Ajunta Pall and kept to Naga Sadow. The Era of the Sith Emperors has the Imperials worshipping the Sith, the non-force sensitive population worshipping the force sensitive with the Old Sith Emperor made out to be the Dark Side of the Force incarnate.

Distinctly, in the Era of the Sith Emperors to the modern day thus far, Sith do not worship a higher calling. A thousand years of doctrine has stated clearly that to be a Sith of the Sith Order, is to be the peak and pinnacle of existence itself. There is no higher being, there is no mandated pantheon above you to worship. For after all the Sith of our Sith Empire are perceived as living gods by the wider populace. Why would a god, worship a god? The Era of the Dark Lords was one of transition, the worship of the old pantheons was not expected yet it was not censored. The Jen’jidai were hailed as living gods when they arrived and the ruling Dark Lord kept up such a doctrine for the two thousand years of its existence, phasing out worship of pantheons in favour of worshipping authority and the most powerful directly.

The creation of the Sith Order at the start of the Era of the Dark Lords was at the core of this distinction. From the moment the Sith Order was founded, it was at odds with the Ancient Sith Pantheons. These ancient Sith Gods, perhaps no more than powerful individuals in the force mythicised over the tens of thousands of years of oral history, were supplanted by the belief that those who rule should be worshipped as living gods.

The traditionalist must be wary of the Sith Pantheons and of worship of the Dark Lords of old. One needs not worship the Sith Pantheons or the Dark Lords of old to be a traditionalist. The censors on these practices have only been unenforced for eleven years to the date of twenty seven A.T.C, After the Treaty of Coruscant. The Sith Pantheons and the nature of them should be preserved for future generations, but do not fall to the old belief that you, the traditionalist, is who needs to be worshipping them. The Sith Pantheon and the Worship of the Dark Lords were both aimed towards the masses, the untrained force sensitives who could feel the force as only a flicker of a whisper on the wind at the whims of their betters to feel and think what they wished them to believe. Their modern counterpart is the Imperial population of the Sith Empire. You, are a Sith. Trained to bend the Dark Side to your whims, it is you who is to be worshipped by the masses. To forget this, is to forget your place at the pinnacle of society within the Sith Empire.

It is only in the last few years, that the Sith Pantheon has gained a small foothold within some powerbases across the Sith Empire, the Horuset Powerbase included. Heralded by zealous figures, to worship the Sith Pantheon is not traditionalism or purist doctrine, it is a separate belief in the rediscovered ancient gods of the tribalistic Sith who worshipped as such in a time before the Sith Order even existed. It is within living memory to say that previous Dark Lords of the Horuset Powerbase, would be outraged by the worship the Sith Pantheon receives. The pantheon and the worship of the Old Sith Empire should be preserved and taught as part of the heritage and histories of the Sith as a whole, but no worship is expected. No adoption of the Ancient Sith Gods is required. The Sith have long since outgrown the need for gods, we have become them.

Spoiler: The Languages of Tradition:

Language within the Sith Empire that the traditionalist should concern themselves with is a trio of Galactic Basic, Sith and High Sith. Galactic Basic is to be used in conversation, it is the official language of the Sith Empire and has been for a thousand years. Sith and its generational changes is the language that was spoken in both the Era of the Sith Kings and that of the Dark Lords by the populace. High Sith was and remains a secretive language preserved only for rituals and was once used by the priest caste Kissai of old.

To use High Sith for anything other than titles, names or the Dark Side rituals of our forefathers is to tarnish the language itself. High Sith is a language of power, prestige and authority. To speak it conversationally or to pass the secrets of its tongue to the unworthy is tantamount to treason against the ancestors of the Sith species. The guarded secrets of the Dark Side are locked away not just through barricade and trap, but through a language barrier. To teach High Sith to the unworthy, to allow High Sith to become widespread is to have it lose its place as the premier language of power. The Sith language is suited better for such mundane matters.

The traditionalist should learn both Sith and High Sith and guard the secrets of High Sith with their life. The language of High Sith should only be taught to the most worthy, the most revered and those most likely to pass on the heritage of the Sith to the next generation. To give High Sith to the unworthy invites the unworthy to rebel, to join the Republic or Jedi and spread our secrets to those who we must ensure most of all do not learn them in full.

Spoiler: The Sith Species:

Even the very species, the very genetic makeup of what it means to be Sith has changed with the passing of the eras. To be Sith in the Era of the Sith Kings was to be Kissai, Massassi or Zuguruk. To be Sith in the Era of the Dark Lords was to be Pureblood, Half-breed, Kissai, Zuguruk or Massassi. And now, in the era of the Sith Emperors, to be part of the Sith species there is only the Pureblood left, a diminished population on the edge of extinction.

For the species, one must acknowledge a difference. The traditionalist who is a Pureblood, must ultimately outbreed our destruction. For each Pureblood to be born, to come of age, to become Sith, to fight against the Empire’s enemies, to claim power and then to also start producing offspring is beyond what many are capable of. Most Sith Acolytes die in training, most apprentices are dead before they ascend, most Sith Lords do not reach a ripe old age. With the entire pureblood population becoming Sith, we are in a paradox of the weakest being culled before they can breed and the strongest not breeding enough to maintain a viable population. But to breed wantonly is not enough, for those of purity must breed with those of purity. The red features, the purity of the species and the divine inheritance of generational force sensitivity must be preserved lest the legacy of the Sith be lost, handed to the overpopulated masses of aliens.

For both the traditionalist who is not a Pureblood and those who are, there is another goal towards the preservation of the Sith species that all must keep in mind. When the Sith Exodus Armada left Sith space, they did not take all of the population with them. Most were left behind and most of them were killed. Yet some small communities persisted and some again escaped the Stygian Caldera, settling elsewhere in the galaxy. Darth Ikoral, a mere eighty six years ago left the Sith Empire in search of Pureblood communities and found them. He returned and was killed only sixteen years ago, at eleven A.T.C, After the Treaty of Coruscant. While killed, it was discovered his mission was a success as his Dreadnought was filled with Purebloods of unknown lineage and ancestry. To seek out and bring these communities into the Sith Empire is perhaps the most important single act any traditionalist can do, for it furthers the cause of preserving the Sith species in the generations to come.

Spoiler: Purity and Bloodlines:

It is only in the last one thousand years that purity of Sith blood has mattered. When the Sith population was in the billions and the Jen’jidai and their Half-breed descendants who ruled after them lived, it was the blood and lineage of the Jen’jidai that mattered, not that of Sith blood. While some Purebloods can trace their ancestry supposedly all the way back tens of thousands of years, in contemporary times these dynasties were recorded for prestigious dynastic purposes, not for the blood of the Sith itself.

But it is in these last thousand years, that the traditionalist must turn to on such matters as these. Purity is of paramount importance. To the goal of the preservation of the species, to breed with anything less than your own station of purity is to dilute the divine generational force sensitivity that was imbued into the Sith species before recorded history. It is an affront, an insult of the highest degree, that any Pureblood would breed with anything else save another Pureblood. Such cast-offs should be culled, to ensure that those of purity know that with their great power comes the even greater responsibility to ensure the future of the species.

Bloodlines traced back to certain figures within Sith history are lesserly important than they once were. No great power is drawn from these ancestors, not any more than any Pureblood can claim. Such is because with such a small population that made it to the Sith Exodus Armada, that as the Pureblood population recovered most modern day Purebloods can trace their lineage back to the same people even so little as fifteen standard generations back. Such is why the inclusion of new bloodlines, new purity from other currently unknown Pureblood communities is essential to the preservation of the species. The Pureblood is ultimately the perfected Sith species, thousands of years in the making. Its propagation amongst the stars must be assured by all who bear the markings of its inheritance.

Spoiler: The Matter of Humanity:

To say that there are more traditionalists who are Human than those who are Pureblood would likely give many pause, yet the truth of it cannot be understated. Humans who preserve the Sith culture, the Sith religion, historical records and have worked to keep aliens out of the institutions of the Sith Empire. Humans who have only a single drop of the old blood coursing through their veins, generationally becoming lesser and lesser. Humans who do not even know the word traditionalism, but out of reverence for their forebears collect trinkets and document what small smatterings of historical records that they find. 

Humanity is one of the four that became the Pureblood. The Kissai, the Massassi, the Zuguruk and the Human all combined together to create the perfect Sith species, the Pureblood. To dismiss them as simply lesser is to deny the perfection of the Pureblood. The traits of humanity are no longer sought after in the Pureblood species for the last one thousand years, yet for the two thousand before that they were. The Imperial humans of our Empire who trace their ancestry back through Dromund Kaas instead of conquest have Sith-Blood within their veins. They are the majority population within our Sith Empire, the only distinction between Purebloods and Humanity is that one is the perfected species and the other is one of the ingredients.

The traditionalist Pureblood should look on humans as near equals. To discriminate against a human is to discriminate against the most recent three thousand years of Sith history. It is to discriminate against a Pureblood, for such a species has in turn only existed for the same three thousand years. And if that human was to have Sith blood in them, to discriminate against them would be even further an affront, for discarding even a drop of the ancient blood is to be seen as a great sin in such times when it grows thinner and thinner across the galaxy. Even the greatest proponent of racial purity and zealotry the Sith Empire has ever produced, Darth Ikoral, did not deny humanity their place in the Sith Empire. 

Yet while humanity is a near equal, they do not possess the generational force sensitivity of the Pureblood. They cannot generationally claim the same lofty heights at the pinnacle of Sith society that Purebloods can. The Pureblood traditionalist should not breed with humanity, for it would only dilute their own blood and as a result across the generations would see the Pureblood go extinct.

Spoiler: The Alien Question:

For tens of thousands of years, aliens have only been the labouring slaves languishing at the very bottom of Sith society. When the petty Sith Kings after King Adas required labour, they raided neighbouring star systems. This tradition of raiding and breeding a constant population of slaves has predominantly been a way to make the useless, useful. In the Era of Sith Kings, when the entire Sith citizenry population was force sensitive, to give aliens meaning was to put them to work as a lesser caste, the Grotthu. In the Era of the Dark Lords the citizens were predominantly force sensitive and of one of the now four Sith species, Pureblood, Kissai, Massassi or Zuguruk with a minority of free humans. Yet even humans still served as slaves as did some number of Kissai, Zuguruk or Massassi.

It is only in the last few decades since our resurgence to the wider galaxy that aliens have been enabled to join the Sith Order and only less than two decades since they have been permitted to join the Imperial Military. Yet in such a relatively short time, the alien menace has grown exponentially. With each world conquered, with each step closer to our thousand year generational goal of conquering the galaxy do we find ourselves accosted by more and more ilk that can now fill positions within society that less than a century previous would have been filled exclusively with those of Sith blood, pureblood or human.

This is an unforgivable downward spiral.

The traditionalist must look on all aliens with contempt. With the knowledge that it is not through their heritage or their blood or their quality that they grab at positions within the Sith Empire, but solely with their quantity. There are more aliens in the galaxy than there are those of Sith blood. As the values that have upheld our Sith Empire for a thousand years are pushed to the wayside and as we make war against the Republic and our Sith blooded population is killed and in turn as we conquer more systems, there is less of us and more of them. In a powerbase within the Sith Empire, a century ago there may have been fifteen Sith within it, ten of which were Purebloods and the remaining five humans. Now, that same powerbase in the modern day could be twenty Sith in total, yet only five Purebloods, perhaps eight humans and seven aliens. As the Sith Empire grows, it is not those of Sith blood who fill in the emerging gaps, it is the conquered alien scourge that rots from within.

The aliens are to serve at best, or otherwise be killed. Whether Sith or Citizen their purpose is one of a stop-gap, the reach of the Sith Empire outpacing the population that has grown from the Sith Exodus Armada. They are an inevitability, the goal of conquering the galaxy necessitates that the species of the galaxy be conquered with it. Those of Sith Blood will rule, but only if a viable population can grow and be maintained generation after generation, something which all traditionalists should work towards. A defiant alien is to be discarded, killed, there is another that stands behind them that may be more loyal than their predecessor and all traditionalists should see themselves as above their ilk. We are the inheritors and rulers of the stars, the alien merely lives amongst them.

Spoiler: The Sith Empire:

The Sith Empire is the tool that our civilisation now uses to complete our conquest of the galaxy. A thousand years of austerity, of survival, of growing, all culminating in our resurgence back into the galaxy at large. It is through our Empire that the Sith species have survived. It is through our Empire that the Sith Order survives. It is through our Empire, that the Sith Blood continues. The Sith Empire has a strong central government, mandating its doctrine to every far corner of the Imperial apparatus. A Sith without the Sith Empire, is no Sith at all.

For nearly twenty thousand years after King Adas’ death, did the Sith species spread across the Stygian Caldera and to enclaves elsewhere across the galaxy. For twenty thousand years in those crucial formative times was the Sith civilisation split into petty fiefs, warlords and kings ruling cities, strongholds, perhaps even planets. But never all of Sith Civilisation. It took the Graush dynasty to forge these separated tribes into a Kingdom once again and it took the arrival of the Jen’jidai for it to be forged into a Sith Empire that would last two thousand years within the Stygian Caldera.

Our Sith Empire is the farthest that any civilisation of Sith has made it. We conquered half the galaxy during the Great Galactic War and in the years since we have held our own despite turmoil from within and without. We are the closest Sith civilisation has ever been to the generational goal of revenge against the Republic and the Jedi. 

The traditionalist is a patriot of the Sith Empire. Stalwart and resilient, the traditionalist works towards the Sith Empire’s success against the Jedi and the Republic, while solidifying its heart to preserve the past and oust the alien menace. Internal turmoil that would see the Sith Empire suffer, especially that of Sith Blood fighting Sith Blood, is not only unpatriotic but ultimately traitorous and is to be eradicated wherever it is proven. The traditionalist will use other, subtler, means of ousting their competition. Blatant acts of destruction cannot be tolerated.

Spoiler: The Dark Side:

The heritage of the Sith species is Sorcery and Alchemy. The two disciplines that have been perfected over generations since the time of Kissai priests. Both are to be guarded against those who would use the knowledge of them against the Sith. Since the Great Hyperspace War, much of this heritage has been plundered by the Republic, the Jedi and underworld elements. Recovering all of this heritage will not only strengthen our understanding of our forefathers, but our path within the Dark Side.

Across Sith history, the Dark Side has always had primacy. From the conquered technology from the Rakatan Invaders needing the Dark Side to operate, to the formalisation of power structures through the Sith Order and the Sith Code. The Sith Code is now the single most fundamental part of what it means to be a Sith.

Peace is a lie, there is only passion.

Through passion, I gain strength.

Through strength, I gain power.

Through power, I gain victory.

Through victory, my chains are broken.

The Force Shall free me.

The traditionalist should look on the Sith Code, Sorcery and Alchemy as the pinnacle of the Dark Side. To understand, to embody, the Sith Code is to find common ground with three thousand years of Sith history where it has guided our civilisation to conquer the stars. Sorcery and Alchemy are to be preserved by all and learned by only the few of Humanity and Purity who have the power and erudition to see such arts of the Dark Side made manifest.

Spoiler: The Light Side:

The Jedi and the Republic have been the eternal enemy for thousands of years. Yet, the Era of the Sith Kings, our most ancient of histories has no connection to them. The tribes of Sith, spread out across the Stygian Caldera in the thousands of years since King Adas’ death, did not hold rivalry with the formation of the Galactic Republic or were even aware of the organisation that would become the Jedi Order. We were an isolated civilisation within the Stygian Caldera, keeping to ourselves, raiding when petty chiefs required new slaves.

For most of Sith history, the Jedi and the Republic were unknown.

Yet even in these ancient times, our Sith ancestors knew of the Light Side of the Force. The Dark Side has always been the embodiment of what it means to be Sith across all eras of our history and contending with the light side and its heresy was of the highest concern. Alchemy, Sorcery, such draw on the Dark Side and the Dark Side alone. To those ancient heretics who would have tried to forgo the Dark Side in favour of the light, they would have lost access to their power. They would be unable to perform their duties, their weakness apparent near immediately and their execution swift. Their families enslaved.

It was only with the arrival of the Jen’jidai and the establishment of the Sith Empire that the knowledge of the Jedi and the Republic entered into the psyche of the Sith populace. Now there was an enemy, an enemy that had exiled the Sith Empire’s leaders and that enemy used the light side of the force to fuel their powers. An organisation of heathens that were as opposed to Sith ideology as any organisation could ever be. Yet even still, the Sith Empire did not strike out against the Republic or the Jedi. The Jen’jidai ruled over the Sith, empowering the population, creating something new instead of bringing retribution down on the old.

Until Naga Sadow.

Naga Sadow’s war, the Great Hyperspace War, brought the Republic and the Jedi to the Stygian Caldera. It brought the light side of the force to our most holy of planets. It was the Republic, the Jedi, these twin embodiments of oppression, corruption and the light side of the force that genocided our species. Our culture eradicated, our way of being left in tatters. It is here, in this moment, that the Republic and the Jedi truly earned their place as the eternal enemy of the Sith. At the very conclusion of the Era of the Dark Lords, only some thousand years ago.

The traditionalist should look on the Jedi, the Republic and the light side of the force as a whole as the Eternal Enemy. The genocide of our species can never be forgiven, can never be repaid, and as a result their rivers must run red with their blood. Yet even when the Galactic Republic is destroyed, when the Jedi Order is eradicated, the light side of the force will still exist. The traditionalist must see the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order as the embodiment of the Eternal Enemy, but understand that they are a symptom, a cancer, a parasite that has engorged itself on a host too long. It is the light side of the force itself that must be fought against, in all of its forms. Other force sensitive organisations, such as the Zeison Sha, Jal Shey and the Voss Mystics, must ultimately be wiped out for their heresy just as readily as the Jedi.

Spoiler: The Wisdom of the Contemporary Traditionalist:

The Traditionalist must look inwards, on who they are and at what they desire to accomplish. Directed ambition is a powerful tool, station and office should be sought after as a means to gain power within the apparatus of the Sith Empire. Power is desired by all Sith, but the traditionalist must take the initiative and strive to take power for themselves where it can be found. Power is not merely given, it is not shared willingly. The traditionalist should gather followers to themselves, to the ultimate goals of the destruction of the Eternal Enemy, the empowerment of the Sith Empire and the saving of the Pureblood species. 

The traditionalist must understand that we are not our forefathers. We are not our ancestors made manifest again, thousands of years later. We are to preserve their ideology, their history, their culture and their beliefs. To see such matters taught down the generations, to ensure that who they were is never forgotten and to ensure that generationally more and more is learned about our ancestors to service the survival of the species.

The traditionalist must understand the importance of Sith blood. Of the divine inheritance that is generational force sensitivity that the Pureblood embodies. To preserve the species, is what it means to be a traditionalist.

The Chapters of Traditionalism are complete in their totality. Now, traditionalism can be described by what it is and why it exists, instead of merely an ignorant disdain for the alien. Now, knowledge of why the alien is lesser is clear. Yet to say what traditionalism is without saying what it is against is to speak in a half-truth, the Sins of Traditionalism must be addressed in full in turn. All traditionalist Sith must know them just as well as the chapters, lest they suffer under the ill-contemplated dispositions of those who came before.

A reminder of the sole view true Sith should adhere to, a light of truth in the darkness of the heresy that seeks to envelop the Empire.

The Sith Empire is in upheaval. One would be a fool to deny it. Two factions are pitched against each other. The progressives, who would see us level out the playing field, giving everyone a 'fair' chance to climb the ladder of success despite genetical impurity or a misguided mindset. On the other side, the Traditionalists, who would see the golden age of the Sith return above else. If one is to become a true and powerful Sith, they have to completely adhere to the philosophy of our order, the very same philosophy that will one day dominate all of the galaxy. What this philosophy entails however, is precisely the cause for the empire-wide argument that has become nothing less than a pitched battle.

Many that would call themselves progressives blindly follow the unholy crusade of Empress Acina, who seeks to root out traditionalism above all else. In an effort to 'unify' the Empire, they seek to remove all social and political barriers between the various groups in the Empire. The philosophy behind it is simple: They believe that it is the single most efficient way to harness the power of every single individual who lives and dies within our borders. For example: The more Force-sensitive beings that get the chance to attend one of the Sith academies, the larger the amount of warriors that will bring the fight to the Republic and other enemies of the Empire. In their haste to find the easiest solution, they do not see the long-term effects of their actions however. The blood of our leaders becomes increasingly diluted. Their mindset becomes misguided. Every day, more of the impure fill the ranks of our order. No longer will there be a dominant culture with a single mindset if this continues. And soon, if the progressives have their way, the Empire will buckle under the weight of multiculturalism.

The true Sith, Traditionalists of the houses of yore seek to stop this. The blood of Adas has always ran strong in my family, and as a result the drive to protect the Empire that is meant to rule is nearly boundless. My father, grandfather and great-grandfather have all shared the same goal: To prevent the misguided individuals from harnessing more power and influence. Many have flocked to the banner of the sun, and many more true Sith remain out there, in the galaxy, waiting for the next Sith’ari to lead them away from the squalor that is the Empire today. The true philosophy of the Sith is always to be centered around the rule of the Pure, for they see that modulation of one's philosophy is in truth, a sin! This vile form of opportunism has spread like a cancer throughout Imperial space, making countless Sith believe that it is okay to squander their heritage, and to share power with those unworthy of being anywhere else than under your boot. Power is not to be shared with the weak, the impure, the lesser. The slave-races are simply meant to build the tombs, statues, fleets and cities in which the Pure rest, preserve their glory, travel to battle or rule.

Do not fall for the misguided ethics and hopeless chances that these ‘progressives’ would offer. If you can only rule by the grace of the unworthy, if you have to make compromises to keep them happy, then you are not a ruler at all, but a mere puppet of the masses.

Any form of compromise, opportunism or modulation that makes you stray from the one true belief that the Pureblooded are meant to rule the Empire and thus the galaxy, is heresy.

Compromise is weakness,

Weakness is heresy,

Heresy deserves only death.

Spoiler: The Sin of Exceptionalism:

Exceptionalism is at its core, the belief that the traditions of the Sith can be bent and remade according to what the reader requires. That an alien can shed their alien nature by rising high enough, overlooking that they lack Sith blood in favour of a cheap stop-gap. To believe that an alien can rise enough to shed their alien nature is to forget the nature of traditionalism at its core.

Sith blood empowers the Sith Order. The divine inheritance that is generational force sensitivity must not be squashed, the stability it provides to the Sith Empire cannot be understated. For an alien to mimic a Pureblood or a human, to be allowed to shed their alien nature, is to open the door even further than it already has. Aliens can already be at any level of society within the Sith Empire, but to forget their alien nature is to say that they are one with the Sith species, the last vestigial holdout that they cannot yet reach. It is heretical, it is an insult to our ancestors, to allow any to bridge that gap.

The traditionalist must always remember the alien. In contemporary times there have been attempts by the alien to blend in with those of the Sith blood, through professions of having the blood of the Sith in their veins as an example. This is a ruse, a distraction, merely an admittance of sin committed by one of their ancestors. The alien traditionalist, for they have existed, should be lauded as the pinnacle of philosophical output that an alien can reach. This does not lessen their alien nature, on the contrary, it keeps their nature front and centre yet ensures obedience on matters of tradition.

Spoiler: The Sin of Farce:

The traditionalist abhors false challenges. To see a Sith ascend is to understand that such a Sith has breached a new barrier, broken a chain of their ever-many links. Such a time as a new ascension is ripe for challenges to spring forth from others within the Sith Empire, to try and contest the ascension and claim what was gained for themselves. For a Sith to ascend and be uncontested means that they are unchallenged, that they are without peer, that nobody around them believes they could take what has just so recently been claimed.

The pantomime, the insult to what it means to strive for power, is when a challenge springs forth not for the challenger to claim power for themselves, but merely to bloody the blade of their better. It is an insult, a mockery of the great challenges of history, to knowingly fight a challenge not to win, not to claim power, but merely for the sake of it. It is a heresy of the highest order, for why would the challenger expect to live? Why would the defendant not kill such a pitiful creature?

The challenge of Ajunta Pall to King Hakagam Graush saw Ajunta Pall win, claiming all of Sith civilisation and the death of Hakagam Graush. Marka Ragnos beheaded Lord Sima as they fought to claim the position of Dark Lord of the Sith, only for Lord Sima to live and from such a moment onwards, faithfully serve Marka Ragnos for the rest of his life. Naga Sadow and Ludo Kressh fought each other tactically, a challenge with consequences so great that it was one of the pieces that led to the destruction of the Old Sith Empire. None of these great challenges were fought lightly, there was no moment where Marka Ragnos needed to fight a cadre of lessers before Lord Sima and he fought.

To challenge a Sith for their title is to invite death. To make a mockery of such a weighted moment by challenging lightly, without purpose, without the desire or belief to win, is to vastly misconstrue the purposes of a challenge. The ascendent Sith have proved themselves by ascending, they do not require further substantiation by killing an upstart.

Spoiler: The Sin of Parity:

Sith are unequal by nature. The Dark Side demands that there will always be those that lead and those that are forced to follow. Power in the Dark Side gives influence, prestige and station within the Sith Empire and every Sith should have the ambition to rise high and shape the galaxy to their whims. To claim parity, to claim that another being in the galaxy is equal to you, Sith or otherwise, is an indignity.

The Dark Council itself, the highest station within the Sith Empire besides the undisputed monarch, is a body of peers but not a body of equals. Five spheres there may be, each headed by a Dark Councillor, yet each Dark Councillor pushes against the others for dominance. Over the long years of the Sith Empire’s history, this dominance has been achieved by many figures, some lasting longer than others. Darth Marr and later Darth Krovos are but two of the contemporary examples of our lifetimes.

No alliance can last. Peers may make agreements, they may decide to combine their power for a time so that together they can establish dominance over the rest of their cadre, but from such squabbling one will claim more authority than the other. To subject yourself to such an alliance, is to begin a contest not just against all those you may face, but the peer you made the alliance with. The traditionalist will understand that winning this contest is just as important as dominating their other peers, for when there is only but two left it will only take one knife to become undisputed.

The structure of the Sith Empire and the Sith Order both do not allow such humiliations as parity. The traditionalist must understand that to accept another Sith as an equal, is to accept complacency. It is to turn your back, to present yourself as a target for the knife that will inevitably come. Each Sith is to bristle against their peers constantly, pushing them as far as they can go and striking them down when they fight back. It is the way of the Sith to find hierarchy in everything.

Traditionalism does not exist in isolation. Progressive ideals push against those of tradition constantly, in an ever ongoing war for the very heart of the Sith Empire. To be a traditionalist in the modern day is to be one of the few, it is to be a holy warrior fighting not just the eternal enemy that would destroy us, but the enemy within that rots us.

The ideals of traditionalism must survive. This Compendium of Traditionalism, authored in 27 A.T.C, After the Treaty of Coruscant, gives the traditionalists of the modern day all they will ever require. Now enabled to overturn the tide that has washed up in recent decades within the Sith Empire. It explains in its entirety how to be a traditionalist Sith, what traditionalism is and what it opposes. Yet to be Sith, is more than to be just traditionalist. One cannot exist without the other, the unskilled scholar who knows these tenants will die just as readily as the progressive upstart. There is no room for passivity, power must be taken wherever it is found.

Understand the history of the Sith,

Preserve the ideologies of the Ancients,

Ensure the perpetuation of the Divine Inheritance,

Praise the Adherents,

Destroy the Sinful.
