Ataru Report - By, Acolyte Zena

INTRO

“The girl thinks she’s tough!” someone laughed at me once. Why? I wasn’t very tall for once. Actually, it’s safe to say i’m on the smaller side. As for my raw strength? Lackfull.

Though I gathered a few muscles through time, I never managed to become what some would call ‘buffed’. Nor do I want to really.

We all have our pros and cons. My pros are that I was, and still am, fast and agile. I rarely agree with my adoptive mother, but when she suggested I’d do ‘alright’ in Ataru ‘perhaps’, I nodded. Genuinely for once.

Imagine if you can take an opponent down before they even get a chance to spit a mock. Priceless!

ABOUT ATARU

So, what is ataru anyways? As I mentioned, it’s something that doesn’t judge by size or muscle mass for one. You need to be swift and you need to be good at acrobatics for this form. Ataru/The aggression form/The way of the Hawk-Bat relies on dashing, flipping, jumping and spinning along with doing  swift, wide striking. It’s a tiering form for sure, but if all goes well, it ends the encounter rather quickly. It’s weaknesses are blaster fire, and you can be brought down if getting hit by a Djem So opponent rather quickly….solution? For blaster fire, use a more appropriate form, if you’re not a master quite yet.

As for Djem So bringing it down? Let me just share the story….

DJEM SO VS ATARU (INTRO.)

There were these three buffed  guys in the back alley once. They weren’t force sensitive, but they seem to know what they were doing with their bladed weapons. They stopped me and wanted to tangle I guess. I obliged.

DJEM SO VS ATARU (In a very beginner-like practice.)

Guy 1:  He was the strongest and most enduring of the bunch. However, his weakness was his swiftness, or rather, the lack of it. He pulled out his blade in and made an aggressive stance, not bothering to cover himself with the blade at all.

Me: I took him down by making a simple fast cartwheel, hitting his right shoulder, then crouching as he whined his strike and stabbed his  leg. Once he bent down, his buddies were approaching, so I swiftly pressed on his neck vein and made him fall asleep.

Guy 2 and Guy 3: Rushed towards me, one from my left and the other from my right.

Me: Instead of running, I spun my blade and ‘danced’ towards them.

Guy 2: Ran away, like a noob.

Guy 3: Stopped running, but placed his blade far in front of himself, vertically as I’d be approaching.

Me: Having a feeling that would block my attack, I jumped upwards once at a reasonable distance. My grip was on a tube now and I swung my body back and then forth, before attempting to hit his... crotch.

Guy 3: But I underestimated him, he was faster than his friend and my leg took a heavy blow. I wasn’t able to walk properly for weeks after this and had a deep wound. However, I learned from my mistakes. A strike this strong is bound to be fatal, but it can’t be ever, if you avoid getting hit.

Me: I focused on my emotions, along with the pain. While I knew it wouldn’t last long, I hoped to have enough time to take him down, properly.

I let go off the tube and began hitting him like crazy, from all directions, while deflecting his attacks. While he wasn’t exactly slow, and managed to block some of it, he did eventually get confused and worn down. This is when I kicked his crotch again and was successful. I finished the fight with a simple force push to the wall.

LAST FEW WORDS:

Ataru becomes more exciting and less draining as you grow with it. However, I hope this subtle example explains how I’d take down an opponent who’s physically stronger than me; 1. Avoid getting hit. 2. Strike as often as possible 3. Confuse or/and drain them 4. Finish them in any way you’d like.

...And that’s it. That’s my take on Ataru, and why I think It’d be great for me personally. If my Lord has anymore questions, I’d be happy to respond in person.

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
