Changes from the Sith Subspecies to Modern Pureblood Sith

#1
Changes from the Sith Subspecies to Modern Pureblood Sith

There has been much evolution in the time which has passed since the Sith Subspecies of old slowly became the Sith Purebloods we know today. Thus, I intend in this document to outline some of the notable traits of those subspecies, and highlight those which modern Purebloods still have, or have lost to time and evolution.

There were three distinct subspecies of Sith in the days of old: the Kissai, the Massassi, and the Zuguruk. These were, before the arrival of the Dark Jedi, formed into a caste system. After the arrival of the Jedi Exiles, the Sith Species began mixing, resulting in the species we now see. I intend to touch upon each of these subspecies throughout this document.

First, the Kissai - which translates to Basic as ‘Priest’ - were the more spiritual caste and subspecies of the ancient Sith, they are supposed to have studied the Dark Side of the Force, likely practicing ancient Sith Alchemy or Sorcery. While of the same overarching species, they were likely more intelligent than the Massassi, and lacked much of the physical prowess of the warriors. Though, their red skin and yellow eyes are still seen even in the Purebloods of our time. They have also been stated to have only three digits on their hands and feet.

Second, the Massassi - which translates to Basic as ‘Warrior’ - as the name suggests, were the fearsome warriors of their time. Much like the other Sith subspecies, their skin was red, likely with a degree of variation therein, with sharp bone-spurs in an array of bodily locations - they were, in essence, the perfect warriors. With regards to their facial features, it seems they had a pair of tendrils from their cheeks, and eyebrow stalks much akin to those we see today. Like the other Sith species of Old, they would have three digits on their hands and feet, unlike the five common in humans and modern day Pureblood Sith. They also had yellow eyes, which is a trait still seen among some Purebloods, likely due to their own Massassi heritage. Those of Massassi descent also appear to be taller and stronger, a clear link back to their origins.

Finally, the Zuguruk. The engineers of their time, this subspecies was responsible for building burial mounds and battleships. Apparently, this caste had, in some cases, five digits on each of their hands, in stark contrast with the three for the Massassi and Kissai. Their skin tone was, also, darker, ranging from deep crimsons to blacks, while the Massassi and Kissai tended to have skin tones ranging from pinks to deep red. I have included this for the sake of completion, though it was not asked of me.

As time went on, and the Sith Species of old mixed with the human Jedi Exiles, the dark skin of the Zuguruk faded to make way for the red tones of the Kissai and Massassi, which we still see today. Over the generations, the ancient Sith became a hybrid species of Human with Sith, resulting in an incredibly specialised species whose connection to the Force is more common than any other. The likelihood of fathering a Force Sensitive child appears, from what I have seen, greatly improved if that child is of Sith descent.

The modern day Sith will have some combination of blood from these subspecies, and from the Dark Jedi they mixed with. Their hands, which are clawed still, with five digits rather than the three of their ancestors. Most Sith Purebloods of the modern day will have an array of facial tendrils, bone spurs, and cartilaginous aspects which come from this very ancestry, with other ridges, and often light to deep red skin. The two most common eye colours in the Sith species are a glowing yellow, or a deep red, from that which I have observed.

The inclusion of the human Dark Jedi into the bloodlines of the ancient Sith has resulted in the modern Pureblood gaining traits from a variety of sources, some human, some Kissai and some Massassi. The marked difference between Sith Purebloods and humans with traces of Sith Blood highlight that which comes directly from the ancestry of Sith. The Sith-blooded Humans will appear, in most cases, almost entirely human, while one can tell the species of a Pureblood with a single look. The spurs, the tendrils, and the red skin, all traits which remain from their ancestry, as well as the species’ innate connection to the Force.

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
