Imperial Training: Skills and Proficiencies

A brief holorecording would play as the file was downloaded. Captain McCarthy's voice soon blasted out from the tinny speakers, his accent as staunch as ever.

"This recording has been made by Captain McCarthy under the orders of General Bastion. I am here to introduce and outline something which is important to all Imperials, from the Private to the SCO. That is our individual abilities, our skills. Be it utilising devestating heavy weaponry, becoming a mastermind with explosives or learning to keep our comrades alive. The Imperial military has valued specialised roles within its army since its inception and with it we have seen countless victories. We are all but pawns in the grand strategies of the Empire, but is it your -duty- to see yourself become a useful pawn. One which is invaluable. One which does whatever it must to crush our glorious Empire's enemies! It is now your turn to take up the mantle and ensure the Empire's dominance through her skills, abilities and actions."

The holorecording slowly fades, the Captain's words resonating for dramatic effect before the file is fully displayed.

Academy Training:

A list of skills that a soldier would be taught during their time in the Imperial Academy.

Imperial Skill: Main Specialisation: Description:
Weapon Training All The ability to identify and safely operate all the weaponry which the Empire employs. While also learning the theory behind a majority of weapons which may be utilised against them. An Imperial would have basic knowledge of, and standard training in using Blaster Rifles, Blaster Carbines, Blaster Marksman Rifles, Light-Repeating Rifles, Blaster Pistols, Scatter Blasters and Vibroswords. While having an understanding of how enemy weaponry (such as slug-throwers) works.
Armour Training All The ability to equip, use and remain mobile within the armour which the Empire employs.
Within the Academy all cadets are taught the importance and theory of armour on the battlefield. Though they typically use light armours for their everyday training. This is to help with endurance and to make the cadet comfortable with wearing it for extended periods of time.  Therefore all Imperial's are at least somewhat comfortable and effective within lighter variants of protective gear. However, the Academy too teaches them how to equip and be relatively mobile within heavier variants. Though as to just how effective or comfortable they can be without much experience, is hard to gauge.
Piloting All The ability to safely operate a multitude of Imperial vehicles would also be taught in the Academy. This would include Imperial Speeders, Imperial Scout - Armed Walkers and standard Imperial Tanks.
Hand to Hand Combat. All The ability to effectively disarm or disable an enemy combat with nothing but their own body is crucial in turning a civilian into a soldier. Teaching discipline, coordination and patience and how to effectively wield a combat knife. An Imperial soldier should easily be able to take down any non-combatant.
Explosives All The ability to safely identify and utilise standard-issue grenades on the battlefield. This includes knowing their looks, uses and being able to throw up to 30 metres.. Too will an Imperial Cadet be taught how to disarm a rudimentary I.E.D.
First Aid All All Imperial personnel are taught basic first aid procedures. They are expected to be able identify common wounds and ailments and respond accordingly. Bandaging, dosing and cleaning so that the injured can be stabilised until medical personnel arrive.

Specialised Training:

A list of skills that a soldier would be taught in regards to their selected field upon becoming a Horuset-recognised specialist

Imperial Skill: Main Specialisation: Description:
Explosives Proficiency Demolition Specialist
& Combat Engineer
The ability to utilise all forms of explosives more effectively. Learning the theory behind and practical use of more advanced explosives provides access to Fragmentation Mines, EMP Mines and Breaching Charges. With this new knowledge, it'd be expected the soldier would know how to disarm more advanced explosives.
Engineering Engineer The ability to effectively repair, disable and maintain most machinery and equipment. A majority of Engineers within the Empire end up working within the Imperial Navy. However, those in the army who pursue engineering are vital as they're taught how to repair, maintain and at times upgrade machinery and weaponry.[/color]
Flame Thrower Engineer The ability to safely and effectively wield a flame thrower on the field of battle.
Arguably the most terrifying and destructive of all weapons. Learning to wield a flame thrower requires extensive discipline and safety measures, but if the soldier survives the ordeal and is brave enough, they gain the ability to spew liquid death out onto the battlefield.
Dual Wielding None The ability to effectively utilise two weapons at once. Dual Wielding is not taught via any conventional means but soldiers who learn to use two weapons in tandem through sheer experience alone are not unheard of. Soldiers have been able to dual wield Blaster Pistols, Blaster Carbines, Combat Knives, Vibroblades and Scatter Blasters as long as the heavier weapons (Blaster Carbines and Scatter Blasters) are stripped completely to their base and equipped with a computerized sight The heavier weapons have an effective range of around ten meters and blaster pistols have up to fifthteen.
Imperial Beast Handling Imperial Coordinator The ability to train and control tamed beasts from the Bestiary. An understanding of different beasts must be displayed to ensure the creatures are controlled best in the manner most suited to their unique species and physical traits. This training also covers how to have some beasts interact with select pieces of Imperial Equipment, such as the Stun Prod and Shock Collars, used to keep beasts in submission out of the fear they feel for their handlers.
Droid Programming Imperial Coordinator The ability to interact with the complex nature of a droid brain. This covers a wide topic of being able to interact with the specific chips on the physical side, or the advanced programming to give a droid a specific command. For experienced users, this could also be used to quickly wipe the set programming of a droid when matched with a retraining bolt

Advanced Training:

A list of specific skills that a soldier would be taught in relation to their chosen field when given access to advanced specialisations.

Imperial Skill: Main Specialisation: Description:
Sniper Rifles Marksman -
Sniper
The ability to safely and effectively utilise a sniper rifle on the field of battle.
While a full theoretical and historical knowledge on the sniper rifle is taught in the Academy, practical elements aren't. This is down simply to the sheer amount of skill required for a sniper to be effective, alongside the limited battlefields in which it can be fully realised. But if a soldier is able to develop suitable skills and find a spotter to help train them, they will soon find themselves becoming one of the most lethal forces an Imperial soldier can aspire to be.
Blaster Assault Cannon Heavy Weapons Specialist -
Gunner
The ability to safely and effectively utilise a blaster assault cannon on the field of battle.
Similar to other advanced weaponry. Only theoretical and historical knowledge is made available to Imperial cadets who's only real experience with a blaster assault cannon will be seeing them utilised by war-droids. But those brave enough and strong enough to wield such a weapon may be given advanced training to learn how to fully realise it's destructive capabilities.
Rocket Launchers Heavy Weapons Specialist -
Anti-Tank Specialist
The ability to safely and effectively utilise a rocket launcher on the field of battle.
While the theoretical and historical nature behind rocket launchers is taught extensively in the academy. Practical training is given but is extremely limited due to the sheer destructive capabilities of such a weapon if misused. Though if a soldier is trusted enough they can receive proper training in how to properly use a rocket launcher, being taught how to properly, reload, aim and destroy any enemy who's foolish enough to stand against the Empire.
Grenade Launchers Demolitions Specialist - Grenadier The ability to safely and effectively utilise a grenade launcher on the field of battle.
Unlike other advanced weaponry. Grenade launchers are not commonly taught about or discussed in the Imperial Academy, there are only a few remarks as to it's effectiveness as an anti-infantry weapon. But only certain rare individuals get to truly realise just how effective a grenade launcher can truly be. Reloading, aiming, arcing and atomising one's enemies instead of one's allies are all taught.
Riot Control Shield Use Close Quarters Combatant -
Protector
The ability to safely and effectively utilise riot control shields on the field of battle.
Riot Control Shields are mostly used by the planetary police forces within the Empire. Most Soldiers who train in the Imperial Academies are further trained in a Military Police Academy, where such a Shield is taught extensively. The theoretical use of such a shield as a deterrent and a tool of fear is the only cursory glance Imperial Academies give to such a tool. Though only a few within the Imperial Army are taught to wield and realise just how terrifying such shields can be.
Slicing Engineering -
Slicer
Slicing is the art of hacking, infiltrating and manipulating computer systems. Therefore it's not taught at the Academy and neither is the theoretical or historical relevance of such a skill. Slicers within the Sith Empire are those who have taken up such a dangerous hobby in their own time and seek to legitimise their skills. Those who wish to learn typically have a difficult time, as few within the Sith Empire have the knowledge and are willing to teach others.
Advanced First Aid Specialised Infantry -
Combat Medic
First Aid at its most basic level has been taught extensively within the Imperial Academies to every Soldier who passes through them. Though further, more specific and advanced training is given to those who desire to become combat medics. Being taught a plethora of knowledge about injuries and how to treat such with advanced medical procedures and equipment. Those with a knowledge in advanced first aid can rapidly see a wounded soldier returned to the front lines.
Jump-pack Training Specialised Infantry -
Jump Trooper
The ability to safely and effectively utilise a jump-pack on the field of battle.
Jump-packs have been studied extensively since the resurgence of the Sith Empire from our Isolation. The once Mandalorian Allies of the Empire took on the role of Jumptroopers for the Empire for the large part and the Empire was pleased for their allies to fill a gap within their own military doctrine. With the Mandalorian's allegiance less than certain, the Imperial Academies have ever since the Cold War been dedicating time and resources to the theoretical and historical application of Jump-packs to try and coax Imperial Soldiers into the role of Jumptroopers who use their verticality to rain fire down onto their enemies below.
Thought Shield Training All Advanced Specialisations The ability to try and repulse force-based mind tricks and intrusions.
Upon becoming an advanced specialist, a soldier has likely proven themselves as valuable to the Empire. Therefore the Empire in return does whatever it can to keep such an asset protected and prepared. While an Imperial may encounter the use of the force by their Sith superiors, they must be trained in case they encounter an enemy which is trained to use it in such a way to alter and warp a soldier's mind. The last thing the Empire desires is one of their valued men turning on their compatriots. Therefore sources regarding mentally bolstering one's mind are made available upon achieving such a rank. Though it is up to the soldier individually to train it. .
Stealth Field Usage Stealth Trooper The necessary training to operate a stealth field generator, being able to move effectively without discrupting the stealth effect. Even an advanced user will need to move slowly to ensure the generator does not deactivate, as well as being aware of environmental effects that can alter the visual effect.

Expert Training:

A list of rarer skills that a soldier may develop through extensive battlefield experience, or can be taught if an individual is deemed worthy enough in a professional's eyes.

Imperial Skill: Main Specialisation: Description:
Mechanical Dissection Engineer -  Combat Engineer The ability to rapidly identify flaws and weaknesses in all forms of machinery.
Army engineers who spend enough time tinkering, fixing, breaking and fascinating over machinery and their related blueprints may soon find themselves being able to mentally map most tools, weapons and vehicles at a mere glance. This higher level of understanding is critical as such an individual should be able spot integral weaknesses in enemy weapons or systems during the heat of battle. Or repair any systems should they desire.
Reprogramming Engineer -
Slicer
The ability to effectively reprogram digital systems.
Imperial slicers are often frowned upon for their immoral skills. But those who can infiltrate some of the toughest security systems then re-write, alter and control what they find inside, are feared. It's extremely rare for a slicer of such  a capacity to be recruited within the Imperial military, never mind willing to share their knowledge. Therefore such a skill usually comes about through sheer experience alone.
Advanced Resuscitation Specialised Infantry -
Combat Medic
The ability to potentially return a recently deceased individual to life.
Through extensive knowledge of anatomy, bodily functions and having experienced more than enough injury and death. A combat medic may become skilled and knowledgeable enough to ward off death itself. Utilising extensive chemicals, advanced medical techniques and sheer luck on someone who has been biologically dead for under ten minutes, and is without critical organ damage. The medic may potentially see them returned to life.
Jet-Pack training Specialised Infantry -
Jump Trooper
The ability to safely and effectively utilise a jet-pack on the field of battle.
Similarly to how jump-packs were first introduced, the Empire's once Mandalorian allies proved to the galaxy just how effective jet-packs can be. Where jump-packs just provide small boosts of verticality, a jet-pack completely changes the battlefield as a soldier equipped with one has mobility only limited by their fuel capacity. Hovering above enemies, raining fire down onto those below, or simply quickly moving from one flank to another. However, such a tool requires rare and extensive training to properly utilise. Training which a jump-trooper may be offered if they prove their mettle.
Teräs Käsi Close Quarters Combatant The ability to utilise the anti-Jedi martial art of Teräs Käsi in the field.
While Imperial-trained Close Quarters Combatants tend to focus on using their scatterblasters, vibroblades and riot-shields to dispatch foes within a short distance. There is one enemy which all Imperials should never underestimate. The Jedi are a unique force as they render shields, grenades and most blaster weaponry ineffective. Too are they skilled in bladed weaponry, and so going blade-to-blade is ill advised unless the soldier is question is extremely experienced. To deal with this, a unique martial art has been developed to effectively counter these individuals at closer range. Requiring nothing but their own body. A soldier who gains such knowledge is truly invaluable.
Improvised Explosives Demolitions Specialist -
Explosives Expert
The ability to construct improvised explosives out of most common chemicals and components.
It's not unheard of for demolitions specialists to talk about explosions like they're a science. Timing, location, impact, materials. But some tend to take it further than others. Through sheer experience, vigorous experimentation and likely a few lost digits. Some explosively-inclined soldiers come to learn of almost every explosive material and chemical the galaxy has to offer. Therefore they are the ones to turn to when large explosions are need in a hurry, and no officially tested Imperial equipment is to hand.

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
