Mission Report: Welcome to the Rice Fields

#1
Mission team:
- Apprentice Wradaii Sutta'Qo.
- Apprentice Madros Dutrosu.
- Apprentice Viren Sekker.
- Acolyte Rekhen.
- Acolyte.

Mission Objectives:
Primary Objective I: Rout the enemy forces before they can defeat Imperial forces at Outpost Eire. - Completed

Primary Objective II: Keep the militia happy. - Completed

Tertiary Objective: Convince the militia to attack the Republic forces. - Completed

Mission Progression:

Before the actual commencement of the mission, Apprentice Kari'Da announced her indisposition. We arranged for a replacement in the form of Apprentice Sekker. I briefed him before we entered the shuttle and assumed command of the team to no challenge. When we arrived to outpost Eire, I addressed the militia captain. Dutrosu asked the Imperials present about their complement, to which I assumed no ill intent. I spoke with the militia captain for a brief while, asking his opinion on defensive positions and the local geography. With that information, and the Imperial complement explained, I ordered the two sniper teams to overwatch positions, the heavy weapons team to an elevated position for a wide firing arc, and the regular troops to the walls for defensive fighting. With a little more conversation I managed to convince the militia captain to have his troops fight with us as back-line supportive fire.

A hostile preliminary bombardment cut our preparations short. The Imperials were reported to be in position, upon which Dutrosu appeared to reitterate my commands with more specific commands as to positions, where I had trusted the Imperials' expertise to determine their own best locations. However, his orders fell on deaf ears. I ordered him to take the right flank of the battle with the acolytes, while Sekker and I took the right flank. Sekker too attempted to give an order, splitting the acolytes between us, but I negated that and reprimanded him. Dutrosu thereupon proclaimed that they were above me in the line of command because of their status as warriors. Since we split I did not argue at that point, but as far as I am aware that was an inaccurate statement. Not just that, but contesting such before both our own and local troops is poor form as it makes our positions look weak. I suggest correction of this behaviour.

The battle was soon joined. The initial attack was performed by 12 Republic hovertanks, firing from range upon Eire's walls. The heavy weapons teams started their work at my command, firing for effect at a number of the tanks. The Republic assault proceeded with personnel carriers supported by speeder bikes. The snipers proved effective at taking out the latter, though the former managed to reach our defensive lines. However, one sniper position was taken out by tank-fire. Our positions at the major entry points allowed us to engage the Republic assault troopers before they could breach the lines.

We defeated the assault force, though I was wounded and it had covered for the tanks' approach. The tanks were more effective at this shorter range, and managed to destroy the heavy weapon position. I sought medical and used the opportunity to rally our and the Militia forces into an assault on the armour. The ensuing grenade barrage disabled half the remaining tanks and forced the others into retreat. The speeder bikes returned to cover this retreat, using hit-and-run tactics along with fear tactics with the noise of their assaults. It had an initial effect, but the combined efforts of our Sith team, both in my rallying the forces through leadership and the others proving effective in taking them down, reinvigorated the defenders into driving them back.

We destroyed the full speeder squadron, causing the tank crews to abandon their vehicles in an attempt to flee on foot. Cognisant of the risk of a captured Republic trooper informing the locals of the state of Dubrillion, I ordered no prisoners. The Imperial forces were largely intact and positive about the engagement. However, a majority of the militia had been wounded or killed, including the captain. I ordered the Imperial commander to take care of the bodies and give them a heroic treatment to build rapport with the local population.

4 of the Republic tanks remained in working order and may be recovered. I suggest this be done to aid in future defensive battles. Furthermore I recommend reinforcement of the Imperial complement on the planet and a search-and-destroy operation to scour any Republic remnants from the planet.

Ongoing Crisis
The Republic Marches amongst lit fires!

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

After the Republic liberated Pollus from Imperial influence, Anx Minor was devastated by I.T.E.C.’s nuclear mining and lingering Sith presence, while the Kesmere Ridge remained largely intact, enabling the Republic to steadily infiltrate and influence its powerful corporate systems. On Tertiary Kesmere—the largest hub—three megacorporations dominated: Oriyn Prospecting discovered resources, Kessdyne Resource Group extracted and profited from the capital Vethar’s Reach and its Ciivic Council, and Haeltor Maritime handled off-world transport. Beneath the façade of economic growth, however, The Republic secretly aimed to turn Tertiary Kesmere into a strategic launch point for operations in the Northern Territories. Contacted by Moff Vayen Korr, the Marshalling Prefect of the Northern Territories, the Pentarchy of House Horuset took on the job of delaying the Republic's actions. With preperations laid it culminated in a strike planetside lasting only two weeks to ignite anarchy. Acting covertly to sabotage Republic progress, they destabilized the region, leaving chaos in their wake as corporations collapsed under their own deception and local anti-corporate guilds rose up—unaware of the Empire’s hidden hand behind the unrest...

((OOC: Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state will determine how strong the Republic will be in given areas area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
