"In this document will be laid out the rules for the use of the forging equipment in the workshop, effective immediately. Along with them come instructions for the safe use of the machines in question. Understand that the room is under strict surveillance - any and all violations of these rules will be logged and reported, and subsequently punished accordingly."

Forge rules.

- Below the rank of Lord only admitted members of the Forging Initiative are allowed to make use of the forging equipment. Any that break this rule will be considered to have wilfully damaged Lord Kalkoran’s property and be appropriately punished.

- Members of the Initiative will be divided into Self-sufficient, journeyman and Initiate ranks. Only those of Self-sufficient rank are allowed to work on the forging machines alone, though for the sake of education they are encouraged to recruit assistants of lower ranks. Those of Journeyman rank may work with at least one assistant of their own or lower rank, and Initiates may not work without supervision.

- Keep the workshop clean. Put away your tools and materials in their appropriate places. Clean work-surfaces and containers so your neglectfulness doesn’t harm other craftspeople’s projects.

- All personally motivated projects engaged in by members of the initiative are to be logged in the document that will be made available for that purpose. Furthermore, all educational projects and personally motivated projects engaged in by members of the Initiative below the rank of Household Sith are to be stored upon the shelves in the workshop.

- You bear responsibility for any material you lose or break. You enjoy some protection as part of the Initiative, but that only extends to the point that you are not immediately punished. You will be required to replace any items you damage or destroy.

- The workshop is a place of labour and industry. Respect the tools and machinery and those that work upon them. Do not rest against, sit or lean on the machinery and equipment, and do not loiter in the workshop needlessly.

Machine manual.

The Forge
[Image: bIWlEqk.jpg]
The centerpiece of our workshop and the very core of our initiative. This wonderful machine is a marvel of engineering and should be treated with appropriate care. The control panel is located on the side of the column and affects the following components:
Burners: Sets the heat and reach of the flames, as all should be aware the redder the flame the lower the temperature. If your intent is to slowly heat your material, keep the flames at an orange-yellow heat. For regular work, however, a blue-white flame is perfectly suited.
Reflector array: The series of ceramic plates at the top of the forge, surrounding the cowl. One may adjust their angle and height, and they serve to protect the surrounding room from extreme heat as well reflecting heat back onto the center of the forge. The standard setting will have them hardly affecting the processes being worked upon.
Forge platform: The platform in the center, used mostly to support containers to melt down material in. Its level may be adjusted to accommodate for the size of the container or to adjust the range of the heat the container receives.

Additionally, the surface around the main Forge can serve as an anvil until a dedicated anvil can be acquired.

Quenching barrel
[Image: pHLZJn0.jpg]
Far more than a simple container, the Quenching Barrel installed with the Forge is an adaptable reservoir for both water- and oil-quenching. A console is set into the rim from which the various functions can be controlled:
Fill water/oil: Fills the container to capacity limit with the chosen liquid. Ensure that when switching between liquids a cleansing protocol has been run to avoid contamination and complications
Drain contents: Drains the current contents through the grate in the bottom. This may leave small amounts of slag at the bottom of the barrel which will need to be manually removed.
Cleansing protocol: To be done whenever switching between liquids and when concluding work at the forge. It will seal the top of the vessel and perform a cleaning cycle, first with a cleaning agent and then with a super-heated air cycle to remove all traces of the previous medium.

Casting Press/Power Hammer
[Image: uLITogU.jpg]
Another core tool of the Forge. It serves twin functions which require an involved process to switch between. In essence, it is a hydraulic press that can be set to either a single-stroke action or repeat-stroke action. Each action requires a different set of dies which are stored on the shelves in the Workshop. The dies are clearly labelled. To switch them, the dies must be partially engaged so the locking system is exposed. They are then unlocked with regular tools and switched out for the desired dies.
Casting Press: The single-stroke action setting. It requires the loading of the desired design into the terminal besides the press. The bottom die is then filled with liquid metal before the action is triggered by the hanging lever. The dies will strike together and shape the metal, upon which a cooling cycle will activate to quicken the setting of the material and the release from the dies.
Power Hammer: The multi-stroke setting, with a variety of dies that can serve a multitude of purposes. Controlled through a foot-pedal rather than the lever, this function replaces traditional hammer-forging and is capable of working on larger surfaces, with more force and in less time.

Hand-grinder
A hand-held grinding tool, to be used until a stationary grinder can be acquired. Ensure the piece you are working upon is very well-secured in a clamping device. Grinding discs of various grits are available.

Tool cupboard
[Image: L1X1s5o.jpg]
Contains a series of tools for all your forging needs. There are varieties of each of the tools listed below which serve different purposes.
hammers: A broad variety of forging hammers of all thinkable varieties. A few significant examples are ball-peen hammers, domed hammers, angled hammers, wooden mallets and flatters.
Shaped bits: Each on the end of a metal rod, there are round ones for introducing fullers or spreading materials, ones for cutting hot metal and other varieties to produce various effects.
tongs: Again, available in a variety of shapes and sizes, from flat-bit to arced calipers, and generally with some method of keeping them closed without required constant pressure from the user.

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
