"Hezerkal was a member of the ancient Sith’s pantheon, representing duels and single combat. He was depicted as a confident figure, having fought every member of an army in single combat over the course of twelve days. Though, he was depicted as animalistic, often represented as a Tuk’ata, with one tusk made from iron, which represented his weapon which was an extension of the Duelist’s body. Followers of Hezerkal typically worship him by facing their enemies alone and one at a time, and for every defeated enemy they remove the head and offer it to the God. While others in the pantheon had priests that would spread their word, Hezerkal was served by priests that could be compared to gladiators or monks, honouring his way of single combat and teaching others in the art of combat. These monks would have commonly practiced with war blades and swords, forgoing the now commonly used lightsaber.
These monks used to reside in temples across Korriban, though unlike other temples these were simple in comparison and were often called monasteries. They were simple in design, not grand in architecture; they would feature bare sleeping chambers and desolate halls filled with little decoration save for martial trophies and relics, the actual worship took place in central dueling rings. Though over the course of thousands of years these monasteries have been reduced to ruin by war, first with the old Sith and then with the Republic and most recently Zakuul. The temple’s attendees were scattered to the wind, forgotten by the Empire.
Members of the Imperial Reclamation Service (IRS) have spent time in the old ruins, reclaiming what they could and filling in the gaps in our history. One Sith working within the IRS is, as far as I can tell, the only member of the Imperial Government that has made contact with the very few monks of Hezerkal that remain on the homeworld. Lord Balhar did not visit the temple himself, he only made contact with the monks to translate old texts, and now has no way to contact them again. However, the Lord was able to provide an idea of where to look for the temple which resides in the wastes of Korriban. At the base of this document I have attached the coordinates that Lord Balhar provided, along with his contact details.
In conclusion; like much of ancient Sith culture, the Duelist is almost forgotten, but those that do remember live on in the shadows, away from the Empire and its wars with the rest of the Galaxy. Though one could argue that unlike much of the other Gods, Hezerkal has lived on, with many Pureblooded Sith still favouring single combat duels or placing honour on a pedestal, perhaps that is simply how the Sith always were and always will be. Or the Worship of the Duelist became so deeply ingrained over the thousands of years of war.
