Operation: C.H.A.P - Gun Runners

#5
Report: Operation C.H.A.P - Gun Runners
Filed by: Apprentice Agran
Team Composition: Apprentice Agran, Apprentice Kyrila, Acolyte Lynn

My original plan for a covert approach and infiltration had to be adapted following initial briefing by Apprentice Lyrissa. The local Garrison had already prepared a full Sting Operation and we were thus to assist them. Their arrangement relied on a third party who set the meeting with the vendor, using an old man informant to deliver the payment for weaponry through the use of a code phrase. Apprentice Kyrila's role thus shifted and she posed as the informant’s daughter whilst I took over a conjoined operational command of the Garrison security forces and coordinated directly with Sergeant Constable Trenna whilst Acolyte Lynn joined me despite earlier plans.

Of the Garrison officers present, only two merit note. Chief Constable Bemren performed as little more than a weighty figurehead, sluggish, indecisive and particularly anxious to get the operation done with, suggesting that our presence was unnecessary and failing to provide the information sought after regarding who the third party or the informant used were. Sergeant Constable Trenna, by contrast, proved precise, alert, and observant; she recognized the incongruity of the Sting’s simplicity and voiced concerns that demonstrated both experience and tactical sense. Her judgement improved our responsiveness when the situation degraded.

At the rendezvous plaza the atmosphere was deceptively calm. Our total force composing of ten overall security personnel split briefly, with three pairs covering the entrances of the gate and the main building whilst four remained with me and the Sergeant. Apprentice Kyrila had arrived prior to us alongside the informant and played her part, granting insight whilst studying the vendor’s manners, who was perpetually tense until he began manipulating a small holocom device. That movement proved decisive. Immediately afterwards rebel forces flowed into the plaza from the two primary entrances and we were briefly held under direct threat.

I ordered immediate withdrawal to cover behind nearby market stands. The security force, veteran enough to hold under pressure, established suppressive positions despite suffering some wounds whilst Apprentice Kyrila held the vendor in custody. When the window opened I led a successful spear-head assault toward the gate of arrival to create an exit corridor as the unit pushed through; our advance broke enemy cohesion and morale as many retreated at the sight of their defeated and slain companions, allowing us to make way to the Garrison without further delay.

We departed the scene with prisoners: three insurgents and the vendor. Apprentice Kyrila remained wary of the elderly informant throughout the incident. On approach to Chief Constable Bemren I demanded their holocom and examined its logs. The device revealed four outgoing calls made after our departure from the Garrison with their timing correlated tightly with the assault and indicates that they had acted as a relay for the rebels. Kyrila then exploited the Chief Constable’s increasing panic, her actions [REDACTED] ultimately broke the man into confession. I thus ordered him to be taken into custody for interrogation alongside the others to extrapolate any worthwhile information out of them all and as a way to cross-confirm any word said. The damaged vendor's holocom was also seized, although physically impaired it should be reparable and may contain recovery-worthy data to identify further collaborators.

Although our initial plan was sacrificed to align with the Garrison’s Sting Operation, the operation as a whole yielded strategic advantage: a mole within our the garrison has been exposed and we now hold four interrogatable elements sufficient to build the intelligence required for a comprehensive campaign against the gun-running network. With prompt exploitation of the seized devices and detainees we can convert this partial tactical failure into a decisive operational gain. The primary objective was thus not fully achieved. The secondary objective was instead achieved for Chief Constable is to be relieved of his position following his arrest and Sergeant Constable Trenna is to be retained and empowered given her wits and experience.

The will of the Empire has been done.
Apprentice Agran.

Ongoing Crisis
The Republic Marches amongst lit fires!

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

After the Republic liberated Pollus from Imperial influence, Anx Minor was devastated by I.T.E.C.’s nuclear mining and lingering Sith presence, while the Kesmere Ridge remained largely intact, enabling the Republic to steadily infiltrate and influence its powerful corporate systems. On Tertiary Kesmere—the largest hub—three megacorporations dominated: Oriyn Prospecting discovered resources, Kessdyne Resource Group extracted and profited from the capital Vethar’s Reach and its Ciivic Council, and Haeltor Maritime handled off-world transport. Beneath the façade of economic growth, however, The Republic secretly aimed to turn Tertiary Kesmere into a strategic launch point for operations in the Northern Territories. Contacted by Moff Vayen Korr, the Marshalling Prefect of the Northern Territories, the Pentarchy of House Horuset took on the job of delaying the Republic's actions. With preperations laid it culminated in a strike planetside lasting only two weeks to ignite anarchy. Acting covertly to sabotage Republic progress, they destabilized the region, leaving chaos in their wake as corporations collapsed under their own deception and local anti-corporate guilds rose up—unaware of the Empire’s hidden hand behind the unrest...

((OOC: Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state will determine how strong the Republic will be in given areas area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
