SUBJECT: AAR: Operation: Freedom Fall
The main siege force was dispatched at 2100 Kaasian to engage the enemy's primary station: a cave. Unexpectedly, a storm that was due in approximately two hours to the AO had arrived far sooner than expected. Regardless, the forces carried on and engaged the enemy at 2240, swiftly overwhelming the rebels. At around 2300, the majority of the slaves had been wiped out, commandeered armour destroyed, before an entry point to the cave was secured and prepped for breaching.
At 2250, Army Special Forces infiltrated through a secondary point of entry discovered, striking at the enemy from within, and managed to secure and extract a total of seven of the ten hostages from the initial convoy. The other three (Spec. S. Vakenan, Spec. T. Urkak amd Pvt. P. Pavel) were executed via a knife. Remaining rebel forces inside the cave were quickly neutralised; no prisoners were taken captive and the Cathar Tuai Halax was not located at the scene. Minor causalities sustained.
Ground forces report the cave to be connected to a cave system, unknown to maps-- theorised the slaves stumbled upon it by chance as they mined through the cave. After breaking through a part of the wall to peer to the other side, initial searches reported just a cave carving of a type of two-headed animal. It's suggested the IRS gets their hands involved and investigate the system. The siege was missing one squad detached from the Horuset powerbase, zero comm-contact throughout the entire operation. Communication to the powerbase informed us of a shuttle crash and that they've been recovered, though little more.
Secondary units engaged the rebel scouting camps at approximately 2130, eliminating all rebels found at the sites with a few prisoners taken. One of the squads reported that one of the camps had already been attacked, presumed by the planet's fauna. Multiple bodies were found displayed in trees, oddly positioned, but it's determined to be a Vine Cat pack's doing by the squad's guesses. Cathar Tuai Halax was not located at any of the camps; no intel to its whereabouts has been recovered thus far. Minor casualties sustained. Prisoners are being interrogated for information.
Operation is an overall success; hunting parties will/are being set out in the hunt of the Cathar and any surviving rebels while the cave, and it's accompanying camps, is secured.
