Legacy [Story]

#1
OCC Note: For context, the holo viewed in this is attached below.

Spoiler: Spoiler

"What is a Zynn?", the bright eyed daughter said, looking up from the defect scanner she was trying to tinker with.

"Father said he was one earlier", a boy with wandering eyes and slight impatience in his body said in an uncharacteristic curious manner - focus wandering from the temptations of wandering to settle upon the display before him.

A scene more rare in play due to work, still were moments of their education, training and shaping of life still possible for Aregra to directly tend to while they were young, submitting them to the idea that their Mother wasn't just some distant shadow, uncaring. Headaches and rescheduling it cost, but to be remembered as anything less than their Mother was unthinkable - for they were part of her legacy beyond just blood: Words, teachings and training, in countless ways they would be instruments for such, of which they hopefully would carry with pride.

"A Zynn is a...very stubborn house, who's members will fight with everything they have to archive their goals, even if it means sacrificing themselves for it", she began, though the still holoimage of the Dark Lord standing over the body of Zaryaa spoke more than what could be expressed by word alone....an image which the Kalkoran twins were looking to with fascination, their questioning having interrupted the reading of High Sith. "Their passions and stubbornness can be a cause for great strength, but it can also come to serve as a weakness"

"Is that why...Zaryaa, yes?", Yallanda chimed in, a head of black hair shifting behind her in the braid worn.

"Let mother speak! I want to hear".

"I'm just asking if that was her name".

"Zaryaa, of House Zynn...she came to see me when you two were born, you know? I rarely saw her, but there she was...and after, she would always ask if you two were healthy and doing well". Distracting via referring to them directly, a triumphant smile clad Aregra's face when the eyes of both twins quickly turned back to the holo. "I did not think ill of her for the longest time...nor do I now. She survived much, and in the end I would like to think she accomplished some of her goal...a legacy".

"Did she write a lot down? Maybe on datapads..?".

With Zarkang perched on the seat of his chair, eyes glued to the holo still, she leaned down with a faint smile, facing Yallanda directly, gently smoothing out her braid. For a brief moment a third child stood with them, eyes burning fierce with determination and ambitions beyond their current reach...with a will unbreaking in their pursuit of it....and with a blink of her eyes, the child was gone - a life never to be, snuffed out with the mother that never would be able to hold it.

"I'm sure she has done writings but, one's legacy can also be passed on in different ways...right now, i'm talking about her after all. And I would like to hope you two haven't grown tired of your Mother's stories?". Eyeridge raised, she noted the expressions of both twins turning into brief fear of having upset her, a joined shaking of their heads occurring in almost unison. "While she serves as an example, the name of House Zynn is known now - it will be shaped without her, and I don't know how remembered she will be as time passes on...but she played a part in it, and will be remembered through that - does that make sense?".

"Remembered...in actions?".

"She traveled a lot didn't she? She must have seen so many places", Zarkang proclaimed with greater interest for such than the holo, now up from his chair and headed for the center of the hall. Steps muffled to carpet, the simple training staff of wood was plucked from its resting place and waved around not entirely blindly - some great fight with a beast from another world unfolding before his eyes only.

Urging Yallanda to join him with a nudge on her shoulder, Aregra settled back by the table, sounds of wooden sticks clattering to one another fading into the background with the holo focused on again. Fingers raised, the image distorted slightly as she curled two around the visage of Zaryaa's body, lips thinned for a moment. Pity welled up - for woman who had been, and a child that never would be. There was no tears shed for either, yet the pity lingered as did the memories of her.

For a Zynn were stubborn ones - only could one hope such was rewarded with deserved rest and few regrets.

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
