Weakness. Failure. Death.

#1
They had a plan. It was going to work. Evelyn crosses the bridge with Illodraen and Araki right beside her. She didn’t remember there being a bridge when they discussed the plan… Something is wrong, goes through her head. We’re being watched. She wants to go back, but she had to see this through. This was her mission. Her chance to show everyone what she was capable of. Her contribution to the war. People were counting on her, her master was counting on her. She had to succeed and she had to make him proud. Failure was no option. They walk past a Republic soldier, he waves back at them. But something is wrong. They continue until they are out in the desert. Her senses flicker, something is wrong. Something is terribly wrong. Evelyn turns her head to her fellow apprentice. But then the sound of at least a dozen lightsabers catches her attention. Perhaps more.

The group is surrounded by what looks like twelve Jedi. There weren’t supposed to be Jedi. This is wrong… this is wrong. Evelyn instinctively reaches for her own lightsaber. Her crimson blade stands out like a bright dot in a deadly sea of blue and green. She launches towards them and her blade clashes with another. But there are too many of them. Way too many. Within a matter of seconds Araki gets cut down beside her. Dead. Illodraen fights bravely besides her, but he is no match for the six Jedi that surround him. Dead. She was left on her own, with twelve Jedi striking at her. She was running out of time and opportunities. She has no time. She had to get out, she had to- Everything turns black before she actually feels the final blow.

Weakness. Failure. Death.

It all starts over. They had a plan. It was going to work, but it didn’t and they were surrounded. Sith Zevasa is with them now. She remembered she had pinged him. He had come here for all of them. For her. His apprentice. But something is wrong, there are too many of them. Zevasa's anger washes through the air like a cold darkness swallowing everything. His anger gives him power, but it only does for so long. He raises his hand and strikes several Jedi with chain lightning. But there are way too many of them. From behind, three Jedi attack him in the back. Dead. Just like that, his limp body falls onto the sand. The darkness that hangs in the air slowly fades away. “No!” Evelyn screams, her own voice sounding unfamiliar. Her master. He was dead, because of her. She had led them here into this situation, and her master had come for her to save her. In return she had gotten her own master killed. A mixture of rage and sorrow runs through her and she jumps at the Jedi that just had slain her master in cold blood. She fights. She thinks she took one down, she wasn’t sure. Araki and Illodraen had died behind her while Evelyn had left them to avenge her master. There were too many of them. Evelyn would follow the others to her death quickly. She was brought down to her knees by the pain of a lightsaber burning in her legs, and the last thing she saw was a bright, blue light going straight for her head.

Weakness. Failure. Death.

They had a plan. It was going to work. Instead the three of them were forced to kneel on the floor. Seconds away from being executed like animals. The soldiers behind them started to fire. Evelyn leaped up into the air, using the Force to give her strength. Illodraen and Zevasa hadn’t been so lucky and she saw the holes in the back of their heads. There was still smoke coming off the wounds. Evelyn takes her lightsaber, she flourishes her blade through the air to catch the bolts, but once again, there were too many of them for her alone. She was being shot at by 21 soldiers from all directions. She couldn’t keep up, and the first bolt hit the back of her leg. But Evelyn knows she can’t give up, despite the pain she continues. The next one follows quickly, and the next. And the next. Evelyn is shot at multiple non-vital parts of her body. She screams in pain. Then a bolt hits her in her chest and she drops to her knees. Gasping for breath she still tries to deflect. Tears stream down her face while she desperately tries to stay alive. Impossible. This time, a bolt goes straight to her heart. She is dead once more.

Weakness. Failure. Death.

They had a plan. It was going to work. But it didn’t. She screams, but no words come out of her mouth. She’s being stabbed, Illodraen is being stabbed, Zevasa is being stabbed. All Evelyn sees is blood and her own skin being ripped open with every stab. So much blood. Too much blood. Zevasa and Illodraen bleed to death besides her. Evelyn falls to the ground, her legs feeling weak underneath her. The sand around her turns red. She screams, there’s still no sound coming out of mouth. Evelyn continues her soundless scream until she dies.

Weakness. Failure. Death.

They had a plan. It was going to work. But it didn’t. She was running with Zevasa and Illodraen by her side. With two Akk dogs running dangerously close behind them. Evelyn gasps for her breath as she tries so desperately to get away. To be safe. She looks behind her and sees the creatures near their heels. “Master!” Evelyn yells, but he ignores her. He does nothing. He does nothing to stop the inevitable. The Akk dogs jump up and tackle Zevasa and Illodraen. Both fall on the ground like puppets. Evelyn stops running, hesitating. Should she help them, or should she get herself out? The Akk dogs don’t hesitate and they literally devour Zevasa and Illodraen, ripping at their necks until their heads come off. Their screams are gut-wrenching and cause Evelyn to shiver. It’s a true horror scene and blood splatters everywhere. There is nothing Evelyn can do and she turns and sprints away. Both Akk dogs notice her leaving, and with their previous victims now motionless they set off after her. The Akk dogs run at an inhuman speed. They catch up with her. One of the dogs jumps at her back and the other sinks it claws into the flesh of her legs. Evelyn falls, hitting the ground hard. Then she feels both the dogs sinking their teeth deep into the flesh of her body. In her legs, her back, her arms, her chest and eventually her face. Evelyn screams, but she doesn’t die. She doesn’t die for a long time and she is forced to suffer until her body finally gives in.

Weakness. Failure. Death.

Weakness. Failure. Death.

Weakness. Failure. Death.

Finally she wakes up, breaking herself free from the endless nightly terror that goes on in her mind. Her heart is racing in her chest and her red hair sticks against her sweaty neck. It was a dream, a nightmare, she reminds herself over and and over to calm herself down. Yet it felt so real. So vivid. Unlike anything she had experienced before, it felt like more than a dream. But it was a dream. It’s all in your mind, she says to herself, none of that was real. She hadn’t died. Her master hadn’t died. None of them had died. She was safe, in her bed, not surrounded by Jedi. She wasn’t going to die, nobody was going to die because of her mistakes. She was safe. Then she begins to cry. Low sobs come over her lips, and she feels how her eyes get watery. They had gotten so close. So close to being captured, so close to death. She knew she was seconds away from being shot, she had sensed it. She hadn’t been safe, not for a single second of it.

She had to do better. Be better. "How can you possibly get better, you are just a stupid girl, a failure", a voice in the back of her mind whispered to her. Evelyn sobs. Her master had been right every time he had anything negative to say about her. She was just a girl, just a child. She had been a fool, a ridiculous mindless fool that had walked straight into the enemy’s lines. And she had dragged others down with her in the process. Perhaps this was just who she was, a failure. She had always been a failure.

She continues to cry for a long time, unable to sleep while she keeps tossing and turning. She curls up in her bed and shuts her eyes again, grabbing her blanket between her arms for comfort. “I am sorry,” she softly mutters to herself. Eventually, after what felt like hours, exhaustion takes over and Evelyn dozes off to sleep again, only for the terror to resume itself and to be haunted by terrible nightmares for the rest of the night.

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
