Spoiler: Introduction
I am Acolyte Natellia Aneirin. At the request of Neophyte Aregra Kalkoran, I am writing a comprehensive report on Alderaanian flora and their beneficial healing aspects. I have comprised this report through my own knowledge of Alderaan, my homeworld, and articles that I’ve gathered from the Holonet. This is to be read by Neophyte Kalkoran alone.
Spoiler: Nredae Gabikimus
Name: Nredae Gabikimus (Northern Catchfly)
Description: Its flowers are single on stalk, intially nodding then erect. They are partially purple in color. Its leaves are narrow and oval and it has a slightly hairy stalk. The large pod structure almost entirely encapsulates the flower. It is pollinated by insects.
![[Image: northern-catchfly.jpg]](http://scandinavianmountains.com/images/flora-fauna/flowers/northern-catchfly.jpg)
Taste: It is incredibly sour and too much ingestion of any part can incur vomitting.
Smell: If made into an extract, its leaves give off a very strong and penetrating smell. On its own, it has no smell.
Use: Since the smell is so incredibly potent, locals of the Alderaanian mountain ranges have grown to call it ‘natural quicksalt’ for it functions much the same way as the organic compound ammonium carbonate. The extract will release ammonium gas, which is an extremely strong stimulant. Historically, the extract will be held under the nose of someone who has fainted. They usually regain consciousness afterwards.

Taste: The leaves are tasteless, but the stalk is slightly sweet.
Smell: It smells faintly sweet.
Use: When snow that has gathered on its leaves melts, the change in temperature causes the leaves to excrete a chemical that mixes with the water. The resulting mixture becomes slightly viscous and is used traditionally as a natural cough syrup.

Spoiler: Conclusion
Alderaan is rich with plants that have been used and are being used for their healing properties. This list is but a small taste of the flora of my homeworld. Sadly, procuring the flowers outside of Alderaan itself is next to impossible.
