A Letter from a Fractured Heart

Dear sweet sister,
I’ll admit I’ve done my share of things
Of which I know I can never be proud
And I’ve tried my best to be a better man;
But realized I’ve never known how
The mistakes I’ve made are abundantly clear
And etched scars beyond my mind to bear
As much as I’ve deeply contemplated
I only found regrets buried there
I am reminded of who I used to be
Wishing we can be like before
And that I’ll cast a smile to comfort you
But that man just isn’t me anymore
I realise what I really want to say is that
I’m trying my hardest to change for the better
And I need to know that you can forgive me
And so, I’m writing you this letter
I offer no excuses to the path I chose
Or the actions that tainted your memory of me
I can only hope you’ll understand one day
That what I did was for our family
Should fate be willing and this reaches you
Let me know and tell me clear
Is it possible to be a family again?
And can I hope to have you near?
I can only hope this letter reaches you well
And that you’ve grown into a splendid young lady
And whilst distance has divided us apart
I’ll be thinking about you daily
