Mission Team:
Mission Objectives:
Mission Progression:
Prior to mission departure 3x EMP mines were secured from Sergeant Rees for use in the mission.
Once deploying to the designated location we first scouted the area for cover and vantage points. The enemy column was to approach from the North and pass through a low valley with high ridges on both sides. The western valley had a ruin complex beyond it.
1x mine was planted in the valley and 2x mines were planted on the approach to the ruins.
Specialist Mot was ordered to secure a high vantage point in the ruins, he spotted another point in the mountains and was given permission to secure that point. Haldeen ordered to take the center of the ridge line whilst myself and Dew secured the Northern end.
All soldiers took cover and waited for the advancement of the column. A column consisting of 2x Walkers, 1x tank, approx 60x regular soldiers and 10x commandos passed over the hill and into the valley. The formation was 1x walker at the front, approx 35 of the men, 1x tank in the middle, approx 35 men and 1x walker at the rear.
The first walker advanced onto the EMP mine and, as ordered, all members of Leviathan advanced to throw grenades into the valley - aiming for the other two vehicles. Some grenades landed in the ranks of men but the vehicles were defended by Jumptrooper Commandos with unnaturally fast reactions, the men were able to jump into the air and bat away grenades during ambush conditions. It is anticipated that some of them have advanced cybernetic enhancements.
A difficult firefight followed as we threw additional ordnance into the valley, resulting in approximately 20 hostiles killed or wounded before we were forced to retreat into the ruins.
Due to the enemy advance we were forced to execute a fighting retreat into the ruins. The second walker crested the hill and activated an EMP mine I had placed there. The men supporting it had their weapons deactivated. I assumed cover and dispatched them before they could retreat and re-group whilst Mot, Dew and Haldeen secured cover. At this point, it was estimated that another 20 hostiles were killed or wounded.
Once securing cover in the ruins the tank crested the hill and began firing in. It landed a lucky shot on a column that was close to where Mot hid out of their line of sight. The shockwave knocked him back, breaking multiple bones, and a sharp piece of rubble pierced into his lung. Putting him in a critical condition. An evac was called at this point.
Haldeen was ordered to secure and stabilise Mot whilst myself and Dew fought a fighting retreat through the ruins. Dew suppressed a team of regulars who pursued and I dispatched several commandos as they landed on the top of the ruins, taking several shots to my own armour.
It is my estimation that, at the point of extraction there were a total of forty hostile infantry killed. Out of the fourteen identified commandos only six remained alive, with three of those in a wounded condition. The tank was unscathed and both hostile walkers were disabled. Specialist Mot sustained serious injuries but the Republic Column's momentum was halted, they will need to re-supply and re-group. It is now possible to push forth to the siege of Tharne's Grenadiers and attempt a relief mission.
Co-ordinates of the battle site have been attached.
Accolade Recommendations:
The medal of sacrificial defence I:
Although we were forced to retreat we held a defensible position against a hostile force, achieving the mission objective in the process, and inflicted massive casualties on their force. I recommend all mission participants be considered for the medal - considering the numbers faced.
The Purple Heart I:
For being seriously wounded in the line of duty and being placed in a critical condition I recommend Specialist Mot for the Purple Heart I.
The Saviour's Medal:
For stabilizing Mot in the field and ensuring he reached the medical bay alive, I am recommending Specialist Haldeen for The Saviour's Medal.
The Tactical Victory Medal:
We retreated to fight another day. If those who fought in today's mission strike back at the Republic with enough fervor in their next deployment I recommend them for the Tactical Victory Medal.
