Operation Sidestrike - Part II: Diplomatic Solutions

#1
Intelligence Questions are answered at the end of this report.

Operation Sidestrike - Part II: Diplomatic Solutions

Attendees:

Apprentice Emlar Racta
Apprentice Mayaz
Sergeant Kienix 'Honour'
Corporal Rosetti 'Saviour' Miriadas

Brief:

The Squad consisting of Sith and Imperial alike were instructed to The Herald, Leviathan's S-Class Light Cruiser, for the upcoming diplomatic mission to Varos VI where they were to hail the planet's rumoured pro-Republic Pirate occupants with the intent of gaining as much information from -them- as they possibly could via diplomatic means.

Report:

The squad, once they boarded The Herald, were met by an Imperial issue Protocol Droid that referred to itself as 'Dexter' as it listed its functions. During this, the squad went over the mission's primary objective of information gathering as the ship entered Hyperspace. Apprentice Racta wisely stated that we want -them- to be the ones speaking. The more they talk, the more we know and the easier it'll be to finally wipe them off Varos VI for good.

The squad was then called to the Bridge, where we met Intelligence Agents, the current Commander and Bridge staff, as the stars finally returned to our view, The Herald had finally exited Hyperspace and the planet of Varos VI was in our sight. The ship's crew got to work attempting to hail the Pirates, even stating that we do indeed "Come in Peace." and was met with all but everlasting silence for a grand total of five or so minutes more. The crew would then gesture to the holo projector as they received an incoming transmission.

The holo projector would then come to life, the blue haze would show a figure, a clearly alien figure. Said figure would appear to be a male with rich turquoise skin tones with vibrant shades of regal purple. Their hair would be thick and rather lustrous, styled in elaborate braids adorned with different jewels, beads and feathers. The creature's eyes would be rather large and moved in nothing but peculiar ways.

The alien appeared to be wearing a Republic Senior Officer's uniform, yet it was heavily, heavily altered with various colours and... the alien's personnel expressions. For now, this stain of a breed is unknown to us. The alien would speak in the poorest excuse for Galactic Basic one could ever hear, though it was still understandable, to a degree.

Apprentice Racta, the diplomat of our squad, would primarily engage with the alien, stating our names, our allegiance and our purpose hailing them. The alien would seem off, like he was under the influence of substances judging by his odd mannerisms and his speech. However, the alien revealed himself to be Captain Riddimbeard, a most bizarre name for a bizarre creature.

This poor excuse for a Captain would toy with us, not taking anything seriously. We however, held our patience and sat through it, keeping to our "diplomacy." Corporal Saviour offered a piece of her mother's jerky to the Captain, clearly high Captain, where he'd simply laugh, withdrawing a slave collar and gesturing to put it on the Corporal for his entertainment. Thus proving to us once again that he doesn't care, he enjoys it.

The Intelligence Agents would call to myself and Saviour, gesturing us to them as to relay to us what they had found. The Agents seemingly found a shot down imperial drop ship, an old slave site with a dig that was filled with upwards of seventy corpses. We do not know who the dead belong too exactly, but by the Captain's rambling, we can safely conclude they are unfortunately imperial.

Then, Apprentice Racta went back and forth with questions with the Captain, ultimately keeping herself calm and composed while he grew slightly agitated, most likely due to his likely drug usage. The Captain would state, after stating a list of names, he has triumphed over the Empire multiple times, Apprentice Mayaz  would have him prove it, to which he did.

The Captain would bring out a clearly imperial looking woman, she appeared to of been recently crying but her expression was neutral. She wore state issued plain clothes and was knelt down in front of the Captain, to which he brought out a blaster and waved it in front of the holo and then pointed it back at the woman. Apprentice Mayaz made the ultimately fatal mistake of questioning the logic of an inferior, illogical, rat of a being. The woman held hostage seemed to know her time had come as she yelled out in a proud tone: "Long Live the Empire!" The Captain shot her, executing her like that. The woman doing this might suggest he's executed more.

The Captain showed no remorse, even mocking the death as he stated: "Oops, slippery fingers." in his pathetic attempt at basic. This proved that there was no point even trying to come to any compromise with this creature. However, we stuck to our mission, attempting to let him talk and ramble on. We'd hear screams off camera, screams that sounded imperial, which indicates he has more hostages and was proven right as he showed four imperials in slave collars via his holo device.

More conversing continued, the Captain was toying, not caring. Apprentice Racta, after gathering more intel would have had enough, deciding to offer him a choice. Either surrender or face the wrath of the Empire. The Bridge of The Herald would flash red, Bridge crews relayed that we were being locked on to before everything seemingly calmed. The Captain and his crew would laugh, mock us even.

This display of their power suggests they do not fear the Empire, which is their biggest mistake. We'd then hear four blaster bolts off camera as he put a finger to his mouth, mocking us even more. We fear his followers have executed the four. After this, Apprentice Racta went on to ask about his allies, about who will protect him from us. He'd say the Republic, to which we don't entirely believe. These Pirates surely wouldn't be aligned with the Republic with their ways, but it is still possible and not out of the question.

Regarding the pirate's other allies, they have little to none. They seem to struggle making alliances with other crews. Their own crew seem to be made up of imperials, most likely forced into it, and the average hooligan. Racta would speak more about what he does with imperials, to which he didn't want to talk about it. I mentioned the mass grave site that was the dig to Racta, to which she relayed it to the Captain.

The Captain plainly replied with a pathetic excuse. They didn't want to peacefully accept his rule, he tried to enforce it, the imperials rightfully refused and he murdered all who would not submit. Apprentice Racta would this time give him a final chance to see the error he has done by explaining in great detail how fighting the Empire would be nothing but suicide for him. The Captain cut off the holo as she spoke.

The Herald would then be alerted to an incoming mass of twenty Star Fighters racing for The Herald, firing bolts, which too raced for The Herald and striking it's shields. We'd make our jump to Hyperspace as a message would transmitted to us. The message was from the Captain who made a threat. "If I catch any more off-world imperials, they will drop like flies, pussiclat." That is what was said, well, what I could make of it.

Their Captain will regret all he has done, he will not make it off Varos VI alive.
End Report

Intelligence Questions:

1) Key Personnel: The Captain Riddimbeard, Skankshot who is a cybernetic Human male with , Skaletta who is a female Zabrak that some among their "ranks" refer to as "Mommy," Rythmblast, a skinny Weeqay male with a cybernetic left arm and finally, Dubwunda. Dubwunda appears to look very Imperial and Intelligence Agents suggest he's forced into their "ranks" as a medic.

2) Motives: Their only motives appear to be amass wealth and control the region. That is all. They clearly don't fear anyone and seems like they will do anything to get what they desire.

3) Goals: Refer to Motives.

4) Funding: Unknown. Most likely theft from the imperials on planet, possible outside funding from the Republic, though these pirates seem too out of hand for the Republic to actively deal with. Still possible.

5) Territories and Reinforcements: They seem to only barley control Varos VI. Their reinforcements could very well be nothing or a ship load. It is unknown.

6) Resources and Assets: For now, we know they contain slaves. Imperial slaves and any soul who refuses them is likely too. They contain standard weaponry, rifles, pistols. Maybe the odd heavier weapon but I doubt it. They have upwards of twenty Star Fighters as well as a large Vessel which appears to be their hub. Possibly five hundred or more "soldiers" they could contain. They also have a shield generator. We have however, found the power behind said generator.

7) Structure and Formation: The Captain seems to be the head, the rest all blend together. The names above seem to be the only ones of importance. I wager that they all, minus Debwunda, are his seconds.

8) Alliances and Affiliations: They say the Republic, but I doubt it. Still possible however. With regards to any others, there seems to be none.

9) Weaknesses: The common "soldiery" appear to be nothing but than the average criminal, making them inferior in combat with imperials and especially Sith. The Captain appeared to be under the influence of a substance, perhaps the rest would too. Could find a way to poison the supply of whatever it is. They have slaves which we could possibly use to sabotage or take up arms against their oppressors.

10) Recruitment Methods: They appear to take on imperials which might suggest they'll take on anyone or anything, which could be to our advantage. Bribe, false promises etc. It is unknown how they actively do recruit however. Also, their involvement of imperials suggests they have little to no specialised "soldiers."

11) Treatment of Imperials: Executed one imperial miner for certain, showed no remorse and joked about it. Possibly executed another four off camera, once again showed no remorse. Safe to assume to not expect any mercy from them. They have also enslaved imperials and there is most likely a lot more of them.

12) Contact with Imperial Resistance: They engaged, when they first landed, with the imperials already on the planet. They refused the Captain's rule and he killed all who took arms against him when he tried to enforce his rule. Outside of that, we're unsure.

13) Negotiation Objectives: Unsure. They didn't request for anything other than toying with us and mocking us by requesting the Corporal to put on a slave collar.

14) Information Sharing: They can be easily goaded, at least the Captain is, into rambling on about what they have done and achieved. However, this proved fatal when we tried this.

15) Conflict Resolution: Uncertain.

16) Relations with the Sith Empire: Apart from what we know on Varos VI, enslaving, executing, murdering the imperials, it is mostly unknown. Though, we do speculate and mostly agree that they have most likely been in skirmishes with troops before.

17) Code of Conduct: Unsure. They seem to just want to amass wealth, probably get intoxicated or high as well as that. Safe to assume classic pirate stereotypes.

18) Reaction to Imperial Presence: Murdering, executing, enslaving, mocking, threatening. They seem to enjoy harassing imperials and obtain our attention.

19) Intelligence Gathering: Unsure. Most likely through torture or bribes.

20) Escalation and De-escalation: Executed non-soldier imperials for seemingly the fun of it. Seem to want a fight with us. De-escalation doesn't even seem possible.

That is all,
For Dark Lord Horuset
For the Empire

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
