From: Specialist T.Klevitch
To: Major J. Koren, Captain C. Igneel and Lieutenant M. Mccarthy.
Subject: Investigation of a Hidden Subterranean Sith Sanctuary as the result of Intel acquired from Reconnaissance of the planet Ch’Hodos.

Introduction

The aim of this report is to provide chronological accounting of the Primary Objective set by Lord Kalkoran to determine the nature of the subterranean level under the sith Palace Ruins of Ch'Hodos, and retrieve all artifacts found within.

Stage 1 – Mission briefing, Tunnel Breach and Artifact acquisition

All available Horuset forces were summoned to the Command deck. Amongst them were Apprentices Ronith, Black, Aeros, Horuset alongside Acolytes Rendvir and  Sherrena as well as Specialist Pelt and myself. We were to explore the subterranean levels of the Ruins and recover all artifacts within. Apprentice Horuset informed the group that she had become temporarily deaf due to sonic weaponry from the cybernetic beasts that we encountered previously in the ruins, though she recovered recently. Thus preparations were made in the form of protective gear to mitigate harm from such weapons, to those with access to such gear.

We landed in Ch’Hodos and immediately breached the underground entrance, which lead downwards into dimly lit passageways. Apprentice Black immediately took charge of the Imperial fire team, taking A-1 designation and assigning Team Aurek consisting Specialist Pelt and myself, whilst suggesting Apprentice Ronith to take charge of the remaining forces, to which he agreed. We cleared the first atrium without incidents, with thermals, motion trackers and nightvision. A datapad was found that was held tightly by a statuette, and its retrieval was done by Apprentice Ronith’s team.

We proceeded ahead of the group, scouting down the next tunnel section, with the lighting increasing in sparsity. The next atrium contained no signs of life, but had a collection of paintings depicting the grotesque with other artifacts. Apprentice Black had ordered that I provide overwatch while Specialist Pelt conducted a search. We had some time to scour this room and secure the entrance of the next tunnels until Apprentice Ronith’s team met up with us, collecting the next batch of artifacts.

Stage 2 –  Life Signs, Greetings and Hostile pacification

Approaching the third atrium, I had spied a group of hunched figures through my medium scopes, who were scratching and shuffling idly. Apprentice Black had also grasped their existence and ordered to hold this position by the tunnels, Both Specialist Pelt and I dropped into overwatch and trained our rifles at the figures. Apprentice Black then called for everyone to convene on our position and Acolyte Rendvir by name to be positioned near Aurek.

The tunnels here were quite wide, enough for a line formation and minimal spacing for two lines of our group. Specialist Pelt was positioned at the right flank against the wall, while similarly myself on the left flank. As Apprentice Ronith’s team came, Apprentice Horuset and Apprentice Ronith took vanguard positions, Apprentice Black  at the center with Acolyte Rendvir on his right and Acolyte Sherrena near the right flank.  Aurek was told to pacify the figures should they be hostile. Apprentice Aeros began to approach with non-hostile intent and speak in what I presume to be the high Sith tongue to these figures, who then became fully visible to our group to be cybernetic sith purebloods clad in black armour. They responded by hurdling towards the group, yelling, numbering in three large and three small, Black goo drooling hostiles.

Again, Apprentice Black stressed us to pacify and not terminate the targets. The hostiles were resistant to stun rounds, requiring a few to down. As the first one was neutralised, their group collectively released a sonic scream and four charged. A pair hostiles were lifted and thrown likely by either Apprentice Ronith or Horuset. A large hulking one barrelled straight into our center, which I had chosen not to engage as it had some risk of friendly fire, instead another assailant on our right flank received an overloaded stun bolt to the head. Another sonic scream immediately rocked the tunnels and broke my concentration, likely deafened the apprentices as one source happened to be nearby in my blindspot, I had assume in front of Apprentice Horuset. In my peripherals, a dismembered arm flew high from the center of our group. Then on our right flank were two hostiles that had successfully breached into melee range of Specialist Pelt and Acolyte Rendvir. I pacified one, and the other was downed by a flurry of different things. Apprentice Aeros walked past several hostiles toward the atrium, which in turn diverted their attention to her. I scoped out and pacified one together with Specialist Pelt, then we focused on another whom Apprentice Aeros Force pushed. Apprentice Ronith and Aeros crippled the last one. Four hostiles were left alive but one was summarily executed by Apprentice Ronith. An imperial detachment would then reinforce our position, securing it and allowing us to opt for an extraction.

Assessment and Thoughts
Sirs, The objective of this mission were met and I will be very grateful to receive feedback from the empires finests to the approaches used here in regards to unconventional tactics used for unconventional situations.

The division of duties were done quite efficiently, and could be the result of long pre-mission negotiations between Apprentice Black and Ronith, an establishement of Hiearchy or chain of command between the apprentices, a general passivity in the contesting of leadership roles or a lack of interest and incentives thereof. Either way, the mission was done swiftly with little disruption to its execution, as we Imperials were able to do our job seamlessly without internal group discordance, which was very welcome change and one I will wholeheartedly appreciate should it continue. I have reason to believe that the pairing of Apprentice Ronith and Black in future endeavors would result in consistent outcome, a quality professionals appreciate to a high degree.

Aurek was positioned ahead of the group to scout and with our unmatched equipment were able to secure each section of the AO safely. Under the command of Apprentice black, carefully securing each sector, we had spotted the enemy without detection and could engage with initiative, preparation and advantage. Apprentice Black has shown apt caution, marked by consistent awareness of tactics used in standard imperial recconaissance which could be due to experience. Though I am unfamiliar with the extent of his previous experiences in battlefield command, he has shown to be capable commanding a squad for reconaissance. Though I have not seem him in dire situations, or on inferior ground, with defficient manpower or firepower, I look forward to him facing such trials and how he would plan to approach and surmount it.

Our formation at the engagement had the time to be prepared but was not. I had assumed that it was two standard lines of three for the squad and wedge behind the vanguard for the acolytes, with Apprentices acting as vanguard. Though in reality the actual placement of vanguards was questionable, as it was not spaced consistently like a huddled formation and thereby leaned towards a flying wedge formation without wing support because of the spread of spacing and consequently, it did not take much for the hostiles to single out and expose Specialist Pelt and subsequently Acolyte Rendvir, who became one of the first targeted by the opposition. Here, the vanguard and center position, could have adjusted its position, by having the center advance to the right and vanguard retreat slightly, covering the advancing center, in order to respond to their flanking attack. We eventually did, although we had not done rapidly enough to close the ranks before two hostiles slipped to melee range of our dedicated marksman. They had by then virtually neutralised Specialist Pelt's range and firepower on his marksman blaster, and thus a hefty chunk of our opening advantage. This meant that our formation was flanked and a vanguard would be fighting two fronts. Thankfully our group was still superior in both manpower and firepower, with Apprentice black filling in the aforementioned gap, mounting a response with the acolytes, alleviating Apprentice Horuset of being outnumbered and thus the situation had not come to a head and both assailants were quickly neutralised. Though one could consider if a line formation was used, and not a mixture of wedge, after engaging the two flanking hostiles, the vanguard postion would have been in position to return flanking the opposition in same space of time.

The formation for the engagement was not laid in plan beforehand, The bulk of the group joined up with Aurek, and things fell inplace as they may. The ranking commander, either Apprentice Ronith or Black, could have proposed a formation and plan of engagement, which from my perspective, should have been very feasible seeing how compatibly they cooperated and ushered order among the apprentices. The planning of engagements, or specifically lack thereof may reflect the notion  that battlefield command is not a priority in the study of the sith within the Horuset Powerbase, as we are not part of the more militant sphere of the empire. in any case, engagements and tactics should be properly studied, practiced and excercised, as military logistics contain a fairly large amount of offensive operations to disrupt enemy supply chains as well as protecting our own.

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
