An Observational Report on Evarrians

#1
An Observational Report on Evarrians - By Acolyte [REDACTED]

Evarrians are a species of large Insectiod creatures inhabiting the planet Jagomir. They are classified as non-sentient however I disagree. They displayed signs of a Eusocial society with variations of Evarrians in a caste system, Queens, Hunters, and Workers. Regrettably due to the circumstances of our mission, and being focused on the primary objective of securing eggs, I was unable to directly observe the creatures as much as I would have liked. I will nonetheless document my limited findings.
The Evarrians are large tubular shaped creatures, estimating an average of four meters in length, with hundreds of teeth in multiple rows. Sharing traits of centipedes, hundreds of small legs, as well as serpents, moving remarkably fast in a slithering motion. When engaged in combat they are able to arch themselves upright to the height of your average humanoid. They have two segmented limbs which they use to slash at their prey, incapacitating them with a neurotoxic venom. On a side note, a member of our party was briefly incapacitated by said venom. I wish I had more time to observe the effects. The paralysis set in rather quickly inhibiting speech first, then motor functions. Luckily we were able to administer proper medical treatment rather quickly so there should be no long term effects. Perhaps someday I will be able to test the effects of the venom and observe the full effects firsthand. After closer examination of the hatchling it seems that the eyes are sunken in between three segments of exoskeleton, front facing above the jawline. Their whole bodies were segmented, with an armor-like exoskeleton protecting their head, back and sides. Their bellies consisted of softer chitin, which was quite the weakness, allowing the other members of the team to dispatch them while we waited for extraction. The nest was rather gelatinous, with a mucous made structure resembling a tree. We found the eggs attached to this structure and quickly loaded them into the transport canisters. It is unusual for an insectoid species to lay so few eggs, I am curious why or how this adaptation occurred. Regarding coloration, the hunter drones were striped in various shades of brown and blue, the queen dark purple with blue stripes also noticeably larger. The hatchling was considerably smaller with a pale white cream color, perhaps the natural colors will develop later with maturity, due to diet, or maybe we were lucky enough to find a mutated specimen.

I would overall describe this species behavior and psychology as extremely hostile. Fiercely territorial, even after we left the nest the creatures pursued us. Whether they somehow knew we had their eggs, they were hungry, or just angry that we violated their territory remains to be seen. All I know is that in the end, the team was forced into combat with hunter drones, and had the shuttle not arrived to extract us we would have been faced with the queen and the full force of this hive. I wonder how well this species can be domesticated, if at all, without the use of the force to bond and, or, dominate them.
As far as containment is concerned I would recommend full isolation precautions in sealed containers while they are still small. The venom is more potent in the hatchlings, their size and speed would allow them to easily escape common enclosures. When they are fully matured regular paddocks should suffice. In addition to further observations I would highly recommend experimenting more with this venom. Perhaps there is a way to weaponize it and refine the dosage. As well examining the Evarrian physiology to determine potential medical research regarding resistance to other neurotoxins.
This concludes my initial report.
As always addendums and, or, corrections will be added, or amended, pending further observation and interaction.
Force Serve,
-Acolyte [REDACTED]

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
