MISSION PARTICIPANTS:
Apprentice Mal
Apprentice Zotam
Neophyte Syndathik
Acolyte Sotal
OBJECTIVES:
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:
Capturing at least 2 live Vornskr - [SUCCESSFUL]
Hunting them during the day when they are at their most docile - [SUCCESSFUL]
SECONDARY OBJECTIVES:
Making a plan ahead of time and submitting it to Sith Sarias, to be provided improved equipment if the submitted plan of action is judged sufficient enough. - [SUCCESSFUL]
Confirming the presence of their main prey, the Ysalamir, upon the planet. - [UNSUCCESSFUL]
The secondary planning objective was undertaken by Apprentice Mal and Neophyte Syndathik, with the plan successfully presented to Sith Sarias with additional equipment being granted for the mission - nets able to withstand the Vornskr, motion sensors, and a beacon to summon the shuttle to transport the creatures should we encounter them some distance from our landing point.
MISSION REPORT:
We arrived at our location not long past the planet’s midday, with Apprentice Zotam electing to set up a perimeter around the shuttles with the motion sensors as the rest of the team headed out to look for the Vornskr, dampening our presences to begin with. Apprentice Mal soon caught sight of tracks that we followed, though they were not too fresh.
There was a fork in the path and the Apprentice had us split up, him investigating near a landslip to the left while we ventured some way down a slope to the right, Apprentice Mal noting he expected the creatures to have fled to higher ground from evident recent rain, with the height providing us with a good vantage point to view our surroundings either way. The Apprentice signalled via comms after not long that he’d found the trail again, and so the Acolyte and I backtracked and we took the left route as a group.
We followed the tracks, being led up some rather difficult rocky terrain that took some time to traverse. A landslip stopped us travelling further upwards, and though no creatures lay at the end of that trail, it did allow us a good view into a valley below - from which, as soon as we looked out, a presumed Vornskr, one of a pack, looked right back at us.
Apprentice Mal channelled for a moment to test the theory, and the pack reacted, confirming the suspicion. The Apprentice updated Apprentice Zotam and had Acolyte Sotal channel to keep the creatures interested while we descended the rocks again, heading back for the shuttle.
The Vornskr approached us not far off the shuttle, it being at this point closer to the end of the day, and Apprentice Mal signalled to Apprentice Zotam that we had Vornskr likely close in tow, the latter moving to join us then along with the nets.
Five of the beasts approached us - two adults, three young ones, that tried to flank and separate us to no avail. Apprentice Mal had intended on recovering all of them; Apprentice Zotam dispatched one of the younger beasts, and the other four were recovered in one piece between us, unconscious in the nets.
All objectives were completed successfully apart from confirming the presence of the Vornskr’s main prey, the Ysalamir, on the planet.
