Report: Defense of the City
On the planet of Jaemus, it was at first Ensign Chakad and myself for the defenses of the outpost that lead towards the city.
From what we were told, it was going to be a two-pronged attack. One over the fields, and the other would be near the elevators.
I was tasked to defend the field going towards the City. I received half of the men from the outpost making in total 10 troops, and myself.
Before we began the fight, I placed one person with a Rocket Launcher in the bunker with an anti-tank missile, two with me at the barricade, two in the towers overseeing the field with a sniper rifle and two at the front-barricade leading up to the road.
I had them placed mines spread from one side of the road to the other, from rockface to rockface, each a meter and a half apart. I myself was in the Command Walker, overlooking everything, and making sure things were set up properly.
The wall defenses in the meantime were being repaired. Not long after, I received reinforcements from Specialist Srano and Private Tendav. Srano was ordered to get a rocket-launcher to the front of the barricade in case of tank presence.
It wasn’t long before the horizon was covered by white armour, Reps had come in large numbers to take the outpost, the first almost like a battalion of their troops in a first wave. Their right flank aimed to take the road by force however were blown apart by our landmines, and their entire left flank was being decimated and pinned down, by both Snipers, four of the men at the front and myself in the command walker. They had nowhere to run, as I used the missiles on the Walker to get rid of any hiding spots in the field such as rocks, hills.
We managed to hold them off and the second wave was incoming, another regiment of troops and this time with them 3 tanks. Each moved single over the road, though due to the mines the terrain itself was hard to triverse for them, which is exactly what I hoped for when blowing up that main-road.
Once one of the tanks was into view, Srano was ordered to take it down. He did so with all 3 tanks at my command, and he followed orders well when I gave them to him.
One of the tanks managed to take a shot at our barricades and I lost 2 of 10 men due to this.
Seeing my men in trouble and my walker not being able to take that much blaster fire, I joined the men at the frontlines as they were having trouble. I told them to not waver, return fire. To fight for the Empire, for the throne. And they did.
We were getting overrun at the midfield, as the battalion now moved up. I asked the Ensign for a air-strike on the midfield to stop their advances, aiming to have it well timed and precise using the coordinates right at the moment they set foot on the midfield. Their entire battalion was decimated, their tanks were in shambles and the survivors ran from the battlefield, being picked off one by one.
I send Srano and the Private to help Group Aurek at the other gate at the elevator. When I came there, many troops lay dead on the floor, a tank was being blown apart, and the Republic Forces were taken care off in its entirely.
My defense troops revered to me as Commander, I was honoured for sure to fight alongside these men and women. And I would do so again if needed. May those two that had died find their way back to their families. They will surely be missed, but honoured.
Casualties: 2 of 10
Enemy Casualties: 99 %
Mission success: 100 %
Defenses are intact.
There was minimal casualty on my end of the battlefield and maximum casualty on the Reps end. The mission was successful. And Lord Kalkoran on request of the Ensign is giving me a boon of sorts, for performing above my station, with major success and victory.
