(IC) The Holodiary of Khassarn Sotal

#1

A holo would flicker to life, the blue light materialising into a humanoid shape. Messy long hair, a tattooed face and the face spurs - the Pureblood Khassarn. He would be sitting - leaned against what seemed to be a rock, his right bandaged hand on his chin, index finger tapping softly against his lips in thought. After a tired exhale, he would begin speaking.

After the recent events I... suppose it would help to get some sort of thought dump. Someplace to speak without the fear of an answer. Certainly, the poor wretch will not have much use of this device anymore.

He would sigh again, closing his eyes with a frown before pulling some strands of hair back. His eyes would look worn, tired. Bags under the eyes. Yet he would keep his usual stoic, emotionless expression on his face.

Expanding my horizon... That is what my father said to me when he took me from the academy. That here, I would get stronger by not being treated as a student, but as someone who has the potential for greater things. That here, I would become a pathetic, embarrassing failure.

The pureblood would suddenly flare up, the brazen lunge towards the holocom almost ending ít´s short service. He would after a short pause lean back, clasping both of his hands together into fists and moving them to his chin, calming himself for a moment before continuing.

Well, I suppose I should start from the rough beginning. I did learn quickly that things were very different than in the academy... Rather unexpectedly so. A river - you know what It can do, yet you are still surprised when the tide comes. I met some of the other denizens of the House. It took some time to pick the bad batch from the... Argh, they are all bad in their own way, something I can appreciate, I guess. If not for the current circumstances.
Then the trials came. I fear that it is too soon, my duties to the family apparently making me miss the one part where my talents would be put to best use, while being unprepared for the other ones.

He would take something from his pocket - a tooth. A rather large one. He would look at it in thought, shaking his head.

However, while the trials are proceeding with rather mixed results - I wonder how we will carry out the Dark Lords will in the future if we move on like this -, it was NOTHING compared to our-my arguably first task. A rogue Lord and his creations... Yet we triumphed.

He would say the last sentence with distressed relief, a lie. Rubbing his nose slightly, He would hesitate to speak before clearing his throat.

I... I still remember the last mission, it was a difficult journey to victory. The monsters and horrors were bad. The mental onslaught was worse. It is a... unsettling thought, that someone can leave such a lasting mark on you. I cannot sleep, cannot focus. I still dread the possibility that something of him, lived on? Somehow?
I fear that the anger will only lead me so far, the only thing that stayed the same. I fear that while I can swing my sword, I cannot be precise, smart...
...I fear that when success is in reach, it will not be me that will grasp it.

Would shudder uncomfortably, eyes looking down in sadness and... confusion.

The others were marked by it in their own ways. I can care less about them. Yet I must stay strong, focused. For failure brings death.

"Adapt to the changing conditions, yet never forget who you are and where you come from."

Thank you Naruz, dearest Monhura.

He would sit still for what felt like an eternity, eyes forward and just stare into the ground with a weary, sad expression. Suddenly, he would scowl deeply, turning off the holocom.

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
