Mission Report: Priority Aurek - Outpost Upheaval

#1
Mission Team:
  • Specialist Trisdane
  • Private Mot
  • Private Dew

Mission Objectives:
Primary Objective I: Secure the hypermatter and return it to Sernpidal. Completed.
Primary Objective II: Sabotage the Industrial Complex to stall the Republic. Completed.

Mission Progression:

We deployed using tactical insertion gear as to keep the shuttle out of the conflict for as long as possible. Landing a short distance away from the facility entrance we saw two guards and two unmanned turrets. At a distance of approximately 60m myself and Private Mot were able to dispatch the men easily without alerting the guards. Dew provided overwatch. Upon closing in it became apparent that the turrets were nothing more than a visual deterrent, too heavily damaged to be properly used.

Two guards were seen patrolling the facility with a cluster of technicians and soldiers on the upper right. Myself and Mot used our marksmen rifles to kill the two patrolmen whilst Dew used my modified DLA to provide covering fire. I used the jetpack to soar over the now covering technicians and dispatch them swiftly with a frag grenade whilst Mot and Dew advanced into cover.

Two soldiers from deeper into the facility opened fire whilst more began to organise further into the depot. The first of the two shooters was dispatched by myself and Mot and a group of soldiers attacked from the left, using a tent as cover. I ordered Mot to watch for the next shooter and kill him, which he did, whilst I moved to support Dew. For some reason he opted to not use his DLA for suppressive fire and instead use his pistol. A flashbang was also used to suppress them. I advanced, killing one man in the opening before using my thermals to kill the remaining assailants through the tent with thermal vision. The Privates provided suppressive fire through the tent to keep the men pinned.

More soldiers emerged from within the facility as the Privates redeployed to new cover and myself to a flanking position. Mot opened fire across the facility and the return fire grazed his shoulder. Technicians armed with scatterblasters flanked the privates, grazing Mot. The Privates quickly redeployed to dispatch the technicians whilst I used the jetpack to close in on the cluster of soldiers and quickly kill them with a thermal detonator.

At this point the facility had been secured and Sergeant Rees touched down to begin the loading process. We kept watch over the entrances in case of counterattacks. A civilian, some 160m away, emerged from the factory and Private Mot broke position seeking a shot. When ordered he redeployed to his Overwatch position.

I placed a high impact charge on the fuel pipeline, setting the timer to blow just after a Republic patrol entered the area. Guaranteeing that first responders were also killed and thus maximising the confusion and delays to Republic response times.

Private Assessment:

Private Mamra Mot:
Mot is a good shot, precise and accurate, suitable to the position of Marksman or Sniper. He can be over eager, focused more on his killcount than the objectives. Patience will be an important addition to his toolkit. Always deploys with two Thermal Detonators, should pay more attention to the mission briefings and tailor his loadout accordingly. There is more variety that would be useful to him.

Would recommend him to pursue the Specialization of Marksman.

Private 'Dew':
Dew is keen to get involved in the fight and creative with solutions, though sometimes incessant and overbearing in them. Dew seems insistent on using anything other than his DLA, claiming to have never been issued one. I provided him mine for the mission and he foolishly swapped to using a pistol for covering fire. When told to secure a position he drew his knife and waited in ambush, willing to sacrifice all initiative to use a weapon useless for the scenario. Also deployed with two thermal detonators and used neither.

Would recommend him to pursue the Specialization of Close Quarters Combatant or Demolitions Specialist. Has also shown an interest in Jumptrooper.

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
