Operation: Serpent Fang - Holding Them Back

Attendees:
Ensign Rennab
Sergeant 'Honour' Kienix (SL)
Sergeant Haldeen
Corporal 'Saviour' Miriadas (2IC)
Specialist 'Killer' Mot
Specialist 'Seri' Rees
Private Warsikasini
Private Codri
Imperial Assault Droid

Brief:

After gathering the in the Atori's compound, Major Koren would have us move towards the Northern Cave where the Atori were set up, fighting for their lives against an incoming mass of countless pro-pub rebels. We were to hold them back, provide the Atori and The Herald alike with enough time to escape.

Objective(s):

Hold back the incoming invasion of pro-pub rebels to allow the Atori to escape
Protect The Herald from rocket fire

Report:

Gathered in the Atori's compound, members of said Atori dotted around practicing techniques and skills all of Leviathan had recently showed them, I would have received an alert on my data pad. This alert would have been the tripping of multiple sensors Leviathan had placed nights before. With this revelation, I issued for all members of Leviathan currently present to get combat ready, a maximum of one minute to do so. However, the voice of Major Koren ringed out to all Leviathan communication lines as he ordered us to the Northern Cave with the objectives of holding back the enemy long enough for the Atori and The Herald to escape. With our orders received, we began our move.

Taking the position of Squad Lead, due to no higher ranking member being present at the current time, and Saviour being my 2IC (Second In Command), I'd order for Leviathan to move on up. As we drew closer and closer to the Northern Cave, the sounds of ruthless blaster fire could very well be heard as clear as day, even the stray bolt also flying in our direction as we rushed over. Besh would arrive first, taking their positions with their heavier fire power by the tree line and with Killer sat upon the ridge close-by, overlooking the battle with the man's Marksman Rifle, and Aurek not a moment after as they too took their positions in the tree line. However, we weren't alone, members of the Atori were already there, already fighting. Though, they were losing.

With the battle ahead of us, I'd yell out for both fireteams, Aurek and Besh alike, to open fire but watch for friendlies due to the Atori being ahead of us also. This is roughly where the pro-pub rebels began spewing out of the Northern Cave like a swarm of rodents surfacing from a sewage facility. There was that many of them that random and un-aimed fire would almost be guaranteed to meet armour or flesh and burn through it. Killer would begin sniping away, picking at those heavily armed or armoured, keeping any would-be specialised units in their assault down for now. Specialist Rees would utilise her blaster cannon to great effect, blasting into groups of rebels, tearing away limb from their sockets and spewing blood and gore all over the battlefield.

Saviour would also lay down fire of her own, spraying into the oncoming masses to her heart's content, not relenting in her volleys of crimson death. The members of Aurek, myself, the Chiss and Warsik would begin spraying down those closest to the injured Atori per my order. Both Privates managing to land their shots, taking head, taking life, taking everything from the rebels as they charged forth. Myself however, would switch my rifle into a burst firing pattern, taking more precise shots and focusing on protecting the lives of the Atori rather than butchering the rebels like the rest of Leviathan save for Aurek. My Assault Droid was doing what it was designed to do, killing, killing and more killing. That mechanical marvel would show no remorse, no fear, in the face of an overwhelming enemy force as it shot into the masses.

The battle would rage on as more and more rebels pushed out of the Northern Cave, some even beginning a bayonet charge on the Atori. Spotting this, I'd yell out to Aurek for them to focus on protecting the Atori and for Besh to focus on the Cave and the vermin spewing out from it. Both fireteams would do as ordered and greatly even. The two Privates fired with great shots, landing their bolts to the flesh and make-shift armour of the rebels pushing the Atori. Myself and the Droid keeping it up too, burst rounds meeting countless, the Droid's automatic firing meeting more. Suddenly, heavy fire would rush towards me, lighting the tree I used as cover up entirely and sending said tree down crashing.

With my cover removed, resulting in myself now being exposed, I'd re-adjust my positioning and to another tree where'd I spot the rebels diving into the water as their push on the Atori, for the most part, failed. I'd yell out for Aurek to focus on the water, hoping to keep any from getting past us whilst Besh focused on the Northern Cave's entrance still. By this time, Sergeant Haldeen would arrive, with his medical gear present. He'd rush over towards Besh, focusing fire on the cave with his Marksman Rifle, doming multiple rebels, leaving a not so pleasant burn mark on their corpses. Killer would snipe at the heavy repeater that was situated inside the cave, said heavy repeater that riddled my tree with bolts just moments earlier, and killed them, giving us a little more breathing room.

The Atori present would be injured, beaten down and knocked down by the sea of rebels that swarmed over them. They'd begin to make their slow retreat, getting the worst of the injured back first as best they could. By this time, Major Koren alerted us that The Herald was almost done with supply recovery, roughly sixty percent of the way there even. Also, Ensign Rennab would arrive, the grenades firing from a under-slung grenade launcher signified this, if it could be heard of the battle however. The battle would continue on, rebel after rebel falling under the gun, the dead falling into the river and being swept away with it's current. Those that dove into the water would be eradicated thanks to Aurek's quick and deadly work.

The members of Besh, those daring three and now four with the Ensign's arrival, would focus fire on the cave once again, this time the swarm would lesser. Perhaps we were finally winning. Us, against such an overwhelming force. However, the Atori would begin to be mowed down, multiple of their members turning into a bright red mist as E-web fire could be seen and heard evaporating them. Killer would be the first to note down their position, relaying it to the other members of Leviathan present. I'd yell out for any to use their grenades as well as asking for any myself. Ensign Rennab would cook himself up a Cryo grenade and prepared to throw it.

As this bloody and messy jungle battle continued on, Sergeant Haldeen, after ever so kindly providing myself with a frag grenade, would stand himself up and begin to assist the injured back to the campsite, focusing on saving lives rather than taking them. Though, the man certainly had his fill of the latter, certainly. Aurek's fire, both flesh and metal, would yearn for the rebel's flesh and so did it meet it. Killer would, after stating so over the communication lines, throw himself a thermal detonator towards the E-web, now seen to be on wheels. However, this didn't come before Ensign Rennab's cryo grenade would soar across the skies, landing and exploding upon impact to the E-web and froze it in place, possibly even those inside too. However, this freezing didn't last for long as Killer threw his thermal, landing it rather skilfully too, as it exploded into a fiery haze. As a result, this would cause the frozen E-web to explode too, sending chunks of metal stained with flesh and blood flying out over the battlefield.

However, this is where the battle began to fall out of our favour. Republic Commandos, a rather large amount of them from what I could see had entered the battle. Re-grouping with Aurek's tight position, narrowly avoiding the deadly grip of a grenade launcher shell, I prepared to throw myself the frag grenade provided by Sergeant Haldeen earlier. I'd yell "Frag out!" as I threw said grenade across the corpse field and towards the Commandos, to which one of them jumped onto it, using their body as meat shield to protect their comrades. Still, the grenade throw was still beneficial.

Both of the Privates situated in Aurek began to focus their shots, steadying their aim and being more accurate now that the swarm had lessened greatly and a much larger threat was at play. Warsik sprayed out, managing to tag a Commando at what I believe was centre mass, taking them down. The Chiss would manage to dome one of the Commandos, taking them down in a single bolt before switching targets to another. This time however, she fired and her crimson bolt met it's target that somehow set off a grenade explosion, resulting in the death of three Commandos. The Droid would still be at it, firing mercilessly into the mixture of Commando and rebel, more so the rebels, making short work of them.

Saviour would open fire herself, thus spraying down a plethora of rebels, a plethora. No rebel could exit the Northern Cave without her bolts meeting their head. Killer himself, with his call-sign so fittingly suited for this scenario, would, like the Chiss Private, take out a Commando with a single bolt to their head. Specialist Rees, her brains and her cannon would prove to be of great use, firing into the remaining masses of rebels, sending bodies, both dead and alive, soaring into the air above before crashing back down into the sandy surface of Atorius.

The Droid and I, a match made in Kaas, would strike at rebel and Commando alike. I'd even manage to eradicate one Commando from the battle with a power shot to centre mass, causing me to reload. However, the firing from Aurek and Besh alike would provide all with the cover to enact a reload if they needed it. We'd receive an update from the Major, alerting us that The Herald was up in the air. However, multiple rockets would fire out, fire out and raced for The Herald itself, tracking it and smashing into the hull of this S-Class Light Cruiser. Well, that would have been the case if not for the ship's shields. With this information, I'd order for a fighting retreat.

Ensign Rennab, before the order for the retreat was issued, fired out gas grenades, the same grenades provided by the then Sith and now Lord Sarias. This caused rebels to choke, their eyes to bleed and their life... end. However, shrapnel would pierce into Saviour's armour, her head even if I saw correct. The Chiss received wounds to her right shoulder, resulting in quite the loss of blood. Ensign Rennab would then be struck by a grenade, sending him flying back but thankfully, without injury. Killer would retreat back from the ridge and re-grouped with Leviathan, providing covering fire and a grenade of his own as Specialist Rees took to helping the injured Ensign get away.

Saviour would run into a tree, perhaps due to her injuries causing her to not think or see all that straight. Spotting this, I'd rush over, getting her up on her feet, my back turned and covering her with my body as I'd push her on to the Chiss and Warsik, ordering for them both to help her get back to a shuttle that was landing. We'd hear the voice of Captain Zynn, alerting us to said shuttle and to hurry our arses up. We'd all make the final retreat back, myself lingering behind the rest to ensure none was left behind. The Commandos were still on our tail, they were unrelenting.

These Commandos would have almost certainly reached us, the injured Leviathan struggling to get back to safety. And for a moment, I thought they would have. However, my Assault Droid, the mechanical marvel that it was, took all the attention onto itself, firing into them all, not giving them the chance to follow us. However, like all real heroes of the Empire... it eventually fell, giving out it's last words of pure loyalty. "For the Empire, Leviathan." as it initiated a self destruct sequence. And, moments later, an explosion occurred, an explosion from the Droid that gave up it's own 'life' but saved imperial ones whilst also taking the enemy with it.

The Droid bought us the time to escape, to safety, as Leviathan boarded the shuttle and re-grouped with The Herald. The fighting wasn't yet over however, we could still hear and feel the vibrations of rockets pelting against the shields of the ship, but thankfully we'd exit the atmosphere and jumped into hyperspace, leaving Atorius behind... for now.

Key Notes:

Objectives complete; The Atori managed to escape and re-locate and The Herald was saved
Republic Commandos; These lot were present, yet Leviathan held their ground

End Report

Commendations:

Every single member of Leviathan acted with such strength, such fearlessness and passion that we'd of been unstoppable if we were to actually stay and fight. Every member, from Private to Ensign followed orders to the nail, shot with no remorse for the enemy. If these soldiers weren't present, the Atori would have been lost and worst of all, The Herald destroyed. And so, I believe all members present deserve rewards accordingly. First of all, Specialist Mamra Mot will be receiving a commendation from myself for his actions, removing large threats before they had a great chance to use them.

Recommendations for Medals and Marks:

The Medal of Sacrificial Defence I - Specialist Rees, Private Codri, Private Warsikarsini
The Medal of Sacrificial Defence II - Ensign Rennab, Sergeant Haldeen, Sergeant Kienix, Corporal Miriadas, Specialist Mot.
The Saviours Medal - Private Codri and Private Warsik.
The Specialist's Service Medal II - Sergeant Kienix.
The Purple Heart I - Private Codri.
Mark of the Skilled - Specialist Mot, Specialist Rees
Mark of the Commando - Private Codri, Sergeant Kienix.
Mark of the Efficient - Private Codri, Specialist Rees

Privates Codri and Warsik have been promoted to the rank of Specialist by myself, with the approval of Ensign Rennab.

A final note: If those present in the battle believe they qualify for something, contact me. I can't see everything. That is all...

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
