Subject: Acquisition of Holdings and Properties near the outer Boundaries of Empire Borders.
Introduction
The aim of this report is to provide chronological accounting of the Primary Objective set by Lord Tokiai for the acquisition of a Slave Camp previously owned by [redacted].
Stage 1 – Landing Party, Scouting, Invitations.
We made Landfall with Apprentice Aeros, Acolyte Sherrena, Private Tann and myself. After a brief adjustment to our environments, I scouted a wreckage, a burning Sandcrawler and then a settlement further in the distance. Apprentice Aeros walked towards the wreckage without word, and it was left to the rest of the group to follow her. Here I established Imperial protocol, designating myself as A-2, Private Tann as A-3, and formally giving Apprentice Aeros the con and A-1 designation.
Upon reaching the wreckage, Apprentice Aeros ordered that I would scout the settlement through the medium scopes on my marksman blaster. We concluded that the settlement was still under Imperial control through the spotted imperial insignia of guard uniforms. Apprentice Aeros then told us imperials to stay in cover, provide overwatch as she and Acolyte sherrena approached the compound.
Apprentice Aeros was briefly halted by the guards, and exclaimed that she demanded to speak to their Overseer. The Director of the camp responded via comms, The Apprentice Introduced herself representative of House Horuset, we were told to come into the compound for some Tea.
Stage 2 – Teatime, Sabotage, Salvage
Apprentice Aeros Obliged to the invitation for tea, Private Tann and I entered the compound and stood guard outside the Directors Building while the Apprentice and acolyte was invited inside the office. While on sentry, a group of aliens with weapons, perhaps mercernaries, strolled inside the compound uninhibited by the guards. We reported on the situation, Apprentice Aeros suggested to ambush from behind and but that was impossible, since they had already detected us and we were boxed in, due to the compound layout. The Alien group opened fire, Private Tann and I were forced into cover inside the building and we suddenly heard explosions.
Private Tann quickly tossed a Thermal detonator and I provided a covering smoke grenade at the hostiles. Some of the assailants were burnt to crisps by Private Tanns detonator, We proceeded to turn to thermals and shoot through the smoke at thermal signatures. Apprentice Aeros appeared from the building and positioned herself at the center, slightly ahead of us, completing a flying wedge formation. Multiple signatures were detected and I had deduced the hostiles had dispersed into crowds of slaves. Both myself and Private Tann switched to Stun settings and proceeded to neutralise all heat signatures. Apprentice Aeros ordered not to shoot the slaves, and moments after, a horde of slaves ran towards us from the smoke.
Amongst the horde were shooters, ducking between the slaves and shooting at us. I isolated one shooter between the slaves, and neutralised him. Another shooter was crushed alongside a slave by Apprentice Aeros with boulder. Then the hostiles sounded a retreat, and as the smoke cleared we were left to discover that Aliens had destroyed the Camp supplies with their missiles. The director had also committed suicide to avoid repercussion by sith, The guards were dead likely by the Alien mercernaries, We rounded the remaining slaves and Overseers and commandeered the slave operation under the banner of House Horuset.
Assessment and Recommendations :
Sirs, we were met with a few difficulties when were approached by the alien mercernaries, we were boxed in with no cover outside the building. It appears the director had some arrangement with these mercernaries, perhaps they were contracted. Perhaps they were there with the same intention as us, The one we captured alive may tell us more. Their objective was to sabotage the operations, indicated by their use of missiles. We did not see missiles in our engagement so the missiles were prepared and used to only destroy camp supplies, which we can deduce were one of their main objectives, if not their only. Nevertheless, we completed the objective we set out to achieve, securing 80 slaves that will likely be put to better use on Sernpidal.
From her reputation, Apprentice Aeros is one of the most fervent believer and staunch enforcer of House Horusets Ideals and thus I was proud to be alonside her in any mission. I took it as a learning opportunity and an honour to witnesss our Ideals practiced and see its result prove the superiority of our method and vision.
We had time to open fire first on the alien mercenaries, but the team leader for Aurek was separated from the rest of the squad, being attended to by the director. If Aurek had only included the imperials as Apprentice Aeros entered the building, Aurek could be independent to pursue engagement with the hostile. Had Apprentice aeros also stayed within the building, she may have had the opportunity to stop the director from committing suicide, as by the end of it, two imperials were capable of taking the group of mercernaries. But this is all in hindsight and at the time, It did not cross my mind to take over leadership of Aurek as Apprentice Aeros entered the building. This was an enlightening experience, I will be sure to request such from siths should similar situations arise.
In our firefight, I decided to stun all of the heat signatures, be they mercenary or slaves. By using stun rounds, we can pacify them and later decide to kill or employ them to our ends. Although Apprentice Aeros demanded in the firefight, “not the slaves”, I could not infer whether she was under the impression we were killing them, or that she wanted us not to shoot them regardless of stunning. My thought is that it leans to the later, since stun rounds have a very characteristic blue colour compared to the red and thus Apprentice Aeros should have seen as she rushed to join us outside, but this would only beg more questions.
Filtering through the crowds would be arduous to neutralise the hostiles, It would also be an unfortunate message to the hostiles, that we value the hostages/slaves high enough to deter the full might of our retribution, thereby allowing the hostiles to continue to use them tactically as shields for their assault. If we showed them that the slaves will not hinder our fire, they would drop the use for slaves and instead opt for a retreat or continue attacking in which case both scenarios benefit us. In the retreating scenario, we would have secured the slaves, if they press their attack, they would lose as they do not possess the equipment to deal with us through the smoke. It was very Ideal, barring the initial confrontation.
The Aliens Mercernaries would think us soft by using live meatshields and my first instinct was to show them otherwise. This was due to the fact that our blasters are equipped with stun settings that we can engage with options. Despite the need of slaves, we have an equally, if not more valuable resource that needs protecting, our reputation and name which inspires fear and subjugation, thus I elected to project the same reasoning from a position of strength onto those Aliens.
In the end they fled, which still serves our cause. With some survivors, our reputation for absolutism is unmarred and word will spread, However this also has the chance of drawing unwanted attention, The initial briefing was not explicit and so we may use an approach that we think is best. To cement the image of utter ruthlessness, I was overcome with the will to counter charge our opposition, rushing in through the smoke to eliminate the rest if not some as they retreated, but as I saw Apprentice Aeros had sheathed her weapon, her will was made clear.
If it weren’t Apprentices Aeros’s order to spare the slaves in the firefight, I would be left feeling completely justified. It made me think whether or not our maxim “Leave no stone unturned” for such situations, was one exercised by our House, which is troubling thought. It was perhaps that I was in the thrill of vindication in our cause, our superiority that when apprentice Aeros cut through the comms with her words, I felt my dominating spirit wilt and cool. In the next moment, Apprentice aeros would kill a shooter alongside a few slaves. Thereby putting both my interpretations of her onfield orders into question and casting doubt either in my method, or ears. Because of my respect to The Dark Lord, I am reluctant to go over the holotapes of my helm from that mission, as I am positive that I am fit in both of body and mind. I would therefore like to very much have a talk with one of my Commanding superiors, to talk about the matter sirs, At a time of your convenience.
