Spoiler: Introduction
At the direction of apprentice Vaenra Horuset, I was to have my knowledge on Sith culture and history by apprentice Zhephra Aeros. I answered the questions she gave in a satisfactory manner. I was then tasked by apprentice Aeros to write a report on the Great Hyperspace War, which I am doing now.
The report will consist of a summary of the events leading up to the war, the war itself and the eventual defeat and destruction of Naga Sadow’s sith empire.

Spoiler: The war
Following the defeat of Ajunta Pall and his dark jedi, the so-called exiles were banished from republic space and sent to parts unknown. They would eventually arrive on Korriban where they subjugated the largely feudal sith pureblood society. The exiles taught them everything they knew and through their teachings, the purebloods would be able to thrive longer after the last exile had passed away. In the centuries after the exile-era, the fledgeling Sith empire grew peacefully in the isolation of the unknown regions. The Republic lost the records of the exiles and the Sith lost the records of the Republic. Their existence to each other was forgotten.
At some point, the great Marka Ragnos passed away. Ragnos had served as Dark Lord of the Sith and was the de facto leader of the Sith Empire. His passing created a power vacuum that many were trying to fill. The two most prominent figures vying for his mantle were Ludo Kressh and Naga Sadow. Around the time of their so-far inconclusive power struggle, two republic stragglers arrived in Sith space. Sadow detained them and rediscovered the Republic through what he was told. He then devised a plan to assume the mantle of Dark Lord of the Sith and lead the Empire into a glorious war against the Republic. Kressh discovered Sadow’s subterfuge and attempted to stop him, but was unsuccessful. In the ensuing struggle, Kressh was presumed dead.
With his rival now out of the way, Sadow took the throne of the Empire and launched his invasion. He lacked the numerical strength to defeat the Republic outright, so he decided to use an ingenious bit of Sith trickery. He positioned his meditation sphere near the star Primus Goluud and began forming huge numbers of force illusions to aid his troops in battle. Sadow relied on his speed and the element of surprise to bring him victories. The invasion progressed nicely, but Sadow would eventually be betrayed by one of his closest confidants. His meditation sphere was attacked and his concentration was broken. His forces were no longer being bolstered and eventually lost the ground that they had gained. What remained of Sadow’s forces was pulled back to Primus Goluud and eventually retreated to Sith space. The betrayal of his closest confidant did not end there, as he also betrayed the location of the Sith Empire in the outer rim regions. A Republic invasion and genocide of the Sith species followed.

Spoiler: My opinion
Naga Sadow was certainly a clever and resourceful individual, but mistakes were definitely made. Instead of attacking the Republic immediately, he should have spent more time building up his forces. As it stands, he relied too much on his meditation sphere and left himself and his armies vulnerable should his concentration be broken. Not only that, but he also never made sure his biggest rival Ludo Kressh was actually out of the picture. Had he done so, there wouldn’t have been a struggle after Sadow’s defeat in the war and the Sith might have been able to withstand the invading Republic forces. The genocide that decimated the sith purebloods could have been averted.
But, I am not military commander nor do I posses the knowledge of the better men of which I speak. They did the best they could with what they had.
