Horrifying Beasts and How To Trap Them
By Lord Sanguinis, Wrath and Beastmaster of the Horuset Powerbase
(An acolyte-focused abbreviation for their inexperienced mind)
Introduction
Like humanoid beings, those creatures that live in the sub-sentient and sentient bracket beyond or within the reaches of civilisation is vast. Perhaps, I consider, more vast than that of the races that make up the weak Republic. What the Jedi cannot comprehend is a simple fact of life that so many have to come to realise: the strong survive and the weak die. This extends to how those with power control those without, how creatures of lesser intellect are convinced by those with greater wisdom. Controlling the masses like a puppet master with the strings of society is the given right of the powerful. For the Sith, we define this power as our right. It is what the forefathers of the Sith species sought to build, and what the Dark Jedi even taught them from the perversion they had discovered of the Jedi code.
Yet, what can all of this even teach a budding Sith, let alone a budding master of beasts and creatures? What we see reflected in the Sith Hierarchy and in the way the Empire is run through its indomitable totalitarian civilisation, can be interpreted through the domination of those lacking our sentient capabilities.
Animal Bond or Animal Domination
To begin to comprehend how a creature must be controlled is to know that all beings are connected in the way of the force, whether little or large, by many different degrees. The Jedi seek to soothe. That is their failing. They create peace where peace provides no answer, only another obstacle. The Sith must crush through this. Like a rock that blocks your path, you either force it to move or destroy it. To this end, the Jedi seek friendship or tranquillity in the creatures to a point where kinship is a reality. This breeds a singular problem. They are bound to one in particular, with their options limited by a form of attachment. As some of you may be aware, attachment is highly frowned upon; a fallacy which is riff amongst their stupendous hypocrisy.
But beyond the philosophy, how can a budding Sith learn to wield such power that you can bend every creature to their will? Firstly, forget the idea of a bond. It is true that you 'bind' the mind of the creature to your own for the duration that you hold sway over them. However, this bond is ENTIRELY one-sided. There is no affection, no love (though whether you choose to do so later is entirely on you) but a simple desire for the creature to do YOUR will. For it to do YOUR bidding. This is why it should be referred to as a domination technique. You are enforcing your will upon it through the Dark Side of the Force, the only true power within the Force itself.
Do or Do Not, There Is No Try
However, to perform domination over anything, as some of you will come to learn, requires a stronger will and a more powerful connection. As you expand your own powers, your own strength in the Dark Side within the powerbase of Darth Horuset, you too will find what you can exert only increases. If there is only one thing you pick up from this document, then I pray that you have the sense to learn that the Sith only deal in absolutes: either do or don't. The middle ground is a failure. When you attempt to control a creature, you must do so with the intent to dominate entirely. If you fail to do so, then you are too weak to do so. You must survive at that point or die, so that you can grow stronger to overcome that obstacle. In truth, nothing great has ever come from siting around doing nothing. To create the best version of yourself, you must attempt what you believe is impossible and adapt. Hardship breeds strength.
To that end, if you seek to venture out to utilise your entire strength to break the mind of a Tuk'ata upon the holy sands of Korriban, or a Gundark in the dark canopies of Dromund Kaas... whether you succeed will entirely depend on the state of mind. As you all should know now, the act of dominating a creature is a mind power that requires only the strongest of wills.
Conclusion
In time, some of you will either survive or die in the trials ahead. What I have offered to you is but a glimpse into a way of existing that is symbiotic with the Dark Side of the Force. To become a better Sith you must learn to dominate the weak. As you grow, even those that were once stronger than you will become weaker - exploit those opportunities for they will never resurface again. But more importantly, the use of creatures in combat can be a game-changer both in how you overcome obstacles or how you overcome your enemies, whether enemies from within or beyond. But to even glimpse such a power, you must ascend beyond that of your current station, as that is the first obstacle you must dominate.
Notable Practitioners of Beast Mastery
This section is by no means an attempt to complement those listed, as all are beneath me in expertise. However, to attain tutelage from myself will be beyond most of you. Those who seek it recklessly and without preparation... you have been warned. Those that I suggest below have been offered insights by either myself or other beastmasters who have come and gone, and as such are capable of teaching.
- Neophyte Aregra Kalkoran
- Apprentice Khatatas Ashana
- Apprentice Sovernus Nova
