Scouting Report - 15/04/21

Scouting Report - 15/04/21

This report was written by Specialist Trisdane, on behalf of Sith Irizka, for the scouting mission which took place on 15/04/21.

Phase 1:
The team advanced, unhindered, from defensive line 3 towards point 7-0-1 without encountering any hostiles. After assessing the fork in the road Sith Irizka elected to separate the team into two groups, Group A and Group B. Group A consisted of Sith Irizka, myself, Apprentice Valzino and a trio of acolytes and advanced up the mountain trail. Group B consisted of Apprentice Nivalis and two acolytes who were to assess the tunnel system.

Phase 2 - Group Split:

Group A - Sith Irizka’s Squad:

I was ordered, by Sith Irizka, to take point and move ahead of the rest of Group A. We heard take movement through the valley as we ascended the snowy slope, making it clear that the acoustics of the area would alert the enemy of any advancing armour. When we arrived at the corner of point 7-0-2 I noticed six sets of footprints in the snow, leading towards the abandoned camp. After reaching the top of the slope I spotted a medium repulsor tank with approximately twenty men supporting it. The tank’s exact model was difficult to assess but it had medium armour, a repulsor for high mobility and a cannon for high damage output. The tank moved from approx. 130m away to within 60m without noticing Group A above them, the tank stopped short of our position and dispatched four Republic Scouts who moved towards an overlook at point 7-0-1. The tank remained stationary for some time with the pilot lifting the hatch and peering out, I had a shot but did not take it. After a short while the tank and it’s escort left. It is unconfirmed but I saw six tracks heading towards the abandoned camp and other soldiers making hand gestures in that direction, I believe that this suggests a potential garrison there.

We failed to advance far enough to spot the Republic lines observed in previous scouting missions but we did confirm a previously unknown Republic presence in the mountain valley between points 7-0-2 and 7-0-3.

Group B - Apprentice Nivalis’ squad:

Apprentice Nivalis and his acolytes encountered traps, trip wires which connected to the rock system, within the tunnel system between points 7-0-4 and 7-0-5. Sergeant Rees’ assessment was that the tunnels were liable to collapse if the Republic wished to do so, it is my suspicion that these trip wires are intended to collapse the tunnel on any large advancing force.

Group B also reported seeing a patrol of 6 men, made up of 2 soldiers and 4 militiamen, between points 7-0-4 and 7-0-6. Acolyte Eusebius reported seeing troop movements between Valadad City and the Republic controlled bridge. His exact words were ‘a whole company of troops with an accompanying militia. Between 100-300 soldiers with an even larger militia escort’.

Group B did not report visual contact with the Republic defensive lines and did not report the heavy tank which was seen in this area before. They did, however, report previously unknown traps.

Phase 3 - Skirmish:

Group B were spotted and hailed by a team of four scouts as they moved to re-group with Group A at point 7-0-1. Group B feigned a surrender so that Group A could ambush the scouts. Capturing 3 and killing 1.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, neither team managed to establish visual contact with the Republic defensive lines. Instead they encountered patrols in previously vacant areas, detected traps within the tunnels, confirmed the presence of medium tanks and spotted a large military force mobilising between Valadad city and the Republic controlled bridge.

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
