Operation: Freedom Fall
[Image: hq720.jpg?sqp=-oaymwEhCK4FEIIDSFryq4qpAx...X_siUlPENQ]

SITUATION

Sector: Esstran Sector
Planet: Dromund Kaas
Location: Span of jungle in the northern hemisphere: [coordinates]
Time: 15/12/28ATC 2200 Kaasian Time

Command indicates that a large mechanised convoy was ambushed and somehow overrun by a slave rebellion upon their route to an excavation sight. The convoy transports a great number of slaves and mining equipment, which is expected to have now severely bolstered the slaves' gear and manpower. In addition, it is theorised that the ten unaccounted for Imperials from the convoy were taken as hostages and/or slaves.

Initial reconnaissance squads have tracked the rebels to various scouting camps and only very recently discovered the location to the escapees' primary camp. Intelligence straight from the field relay it to be a cave, potentially an unmapped system. The decision's been made to assemble a task force to mobilise and eliminate the rebellion along with recovering any hostages. The main assault force is heralded by Lieutenant Libden on the ground.

The irritant rebellion's leadership remains unknown, but intelligence has narrowed it down to a handful of targets, the prime suspect being Tuai Halax - male Cathar, Republic special forces soldier- who is believed to be the one competent enough to orchestrate the rebels. They're marked as a HVT. Kill or Capture.

[A mugshot of a captive Tuai Halax was provided within the file; the alien bore scars of either war or the relentless cruelty of their Imperial captors all over their face - the right side of their face having no fur.]

Enemy Forces:
Slave Rebellion (N/A)
Slave Convoy Escapees (100)
Hijacked Armoured/Armed Imperial Truck-Speeders (4), Speeder Bikes (6), IS-AWs (2).

Friendly Forces:
1st Mechanised Infantry Platoon (100)
3rd Specialised Reconnaissance Platoon (50)
Army Special Forces (50)
Missing Convoy Imperials (10)

Support Units:
ISS Patriot
IB-CT (4)
ID-TD (1)

Command's Judgement:
The 3rd Specialised Reconnaissance Platoon will handle the scout camps, Special Forces will attempt to hold and breach newly identified potential exits to the cave system to try and cut off any escape and recover hostages. Leviathan and the 1st will siege the rebel's main camp head-on with IB-CT and ID-TD tanks as support. The enemy may be wearing the armour of the fallen/captured, remember that. Leviathan, 1st, 3rd and Special Forces will all be tagged to identify each other as friendly. Any others that are not tagged are either the enemy or the hostages.

MISSION

Leviathan AND 1st Mechanised Infantry Platoon
Are to NEUTRALISE all hostile forces, KILL OR CAPTURE Taui Halax and RECOVER all potential hostages.
  1. Neutralise all hostile forces
  2. Kill or capture Tuai Halax
  3. Secure the LZ/EZ
  4. Extract hostages to the ISS Patriot; 1st Platoon will hold any prisoner(s)

OOC INFO

IC Location: Span of jungle in the northern hemisphere of Dromund Kaas - Leviathan have coordinates to the RV point with the 1st and the coordinates of the enemy camp.

OOC Location: Yavin 4, Onderon, Dromund Kaas - anywhere you feel that'd work for this.

Time Frame: Until Imp 2.5.

Estimated Party Size: Entire Imperial Army can sign up. Absolute maximum of one Sith/Acolyte (do we have Acolytes?). It's preferred if the Sith has leadership skills.

Rewards: Bro finks they get rewards :skull:

GM: I'm not as I'm continuing to be happy by not loading up SWTOR for the foreseeable future. If you sign up to Operations, you should at least be open to GMing them, just some decency - unheard of in this Guild, I know. Whoever GMs, DM me.

Additional IMPORTANT Info: Squads 1 through 9 are the 1st Mechanised Infantry Platoon. LEVIATHAN ARE SQUAD 10: HERF!! Special Forces are Squads 11 to 15. Each squad contains ten men outside Leviathan, probably. The mentioned side unit is the 3rd Spec Recce Platoon, contact Dragon to speak to them. You're fighting directly with the 1st and technically the SF.

Imperial Events are deadly by default, this should be common knowledge by now. However, this one is ABSOLUTELY DEADLY. You, who actually reads Ops Threads, have been warned.

Quote:TO: Army Command
FROM: Ens. J. Evaans

SUBJECT: AAR: Operation: Freedom Fall

The main siege force was dispatched at 2100 Kaasian to engage the enemy's primary station: a cave. Unexpectedly, a storm that was due in approximately two hours to the AO had arrived far sooner than expected. Regardless, the forces carried on and engaged the enemy at 2240, swiftly overwhelming the rebels. At around 2300, the majority of the slaves had been wiped out, commandeered armour destroyed, before an entry point to the cave was secured and prepped for breaching.

At 2250, Army Special Forces infiltrated through a secondary point of entry discovered, striking at the enemy from within, and managed to secure and extract a total of seven of the ten hostages from the initial convoy. The other three (Spec. S. Vakenan, Spec. T. Urkak amd Pvt. P. Pavel) were executed via a knife. Remaining rebel forces inside the cave were quickly neutralised; no prisoners were taken captive and the Cathar Tuai Halax was not located at the scene. Minor causalities sustained.

Ground forces report the cave to be connected to a cave system, unknown to maps-- theorised the slaves stumbled upon it by chance as they mined through the cave. After breaking through a part of the wall to peer to the other side, initial searches reported just a cave carving of a type of two-headed animal. It's suggested the IRS gets their hands involved and investigate the system. The siege was missing one squad detached from the Horuset powerbase, zero comm-contact throughout the entire operation. Communication to the powerbase informed us of a shuttle crash and that they've been recovered, though little more.

Secondary units engaged the rebel scouting camps at approximately 2130, eliminating all rebels found at the sites with a few prisoners taken. One of the squads reported that one of the camps had already been attacked, presumed by the planet's fauna. Multiple bodies were found displayed in trees, oddly positioned, but it's determined to be a Vine Cat pack's doing by the squad's guesses. Cathar Tuai Halax was not located at any of the camps; no intel to its whereabouts has been recovered thus far. Minor casualties sustained. Prisoners are being interrogated for information.

Operation is an overall success; hunting parties will/are being set out in the hunt of the Cathar and any surviving rebels while the cave, and it's accompanying camps, is secured.

Attendees:
  • Lieutenant Crix Rennab- Grenadier
  • “Sergeant Gorbargh” (Lord Vipion) - “Combat Medic”
  • Sergeant Athun - Sniper
  • Sergeant Yalkir “Daggers” Mays (Dew) - Jet Trooper
  • Sergeant Rosetti Miriadas  - Combat Engineer
  • Specialist Etsin Gast - Marksman
  • Specialist Codri - Marksman

My original plan was to mask myself as an Imperial Medic and give the rebels a nasty surprise. This did not happen in any capacity.

Almost immediately after flying into the storm, our communications failed due to a high level of interference. Moments after we were shot out of the sky by some type of beam of energy. If this was the storm, it surely had been augmented by the force, but I personally believe it was something else. We did not have time to determine this cause. I was able to telekinetically guide us to a tree rather than a full crash onto the ground. It was still a brutal impact, killing one of the pilots and sending Lieutenant Rennab flying. Rennab and the second pilot were injured severely.

After the impact, Sergeant Athun broke the door open, Sergeant Miriadas collected the pilot and helped us rappel down, and Sergeant Mays stayed atop to secure the line down. I helped telekinetically lower everybody, including the injured. Recovering my strength took some time, but when I did sense out I determined an extremely powerful dark-sided force presence atop near our shuttle and ordered the group to gather at the same time that Sergeant Mays engaged it with his jetpack. He shot at it multiple times and made his way down with the rest of us, but did end up struck by the creature, nearly being crushed by a tree. Sergeant Miriadas successfully stabilized him.

Visibly all that we could tell was that it was a clawed dark blur that moved quickly until we threw several flares down. The creature possessed multiple legs and arms, and pulled its mouth open to attempt to shoot what I could only imagine to be webs- I threw rocks to block this happening the two times it happened. It also attempted to scatter us or cause us to flee multiple times using a mass mental attack, and it was somewhat blaster resistant save for its multiple eyes, which Specialists Codri and Gast utilized to great effect, with more flares thrown from Sergeant Miriadas that made it easier to spot. When it was visible, it was some kind of arachnid-humanoid hybrid. Strength-wise, I would rate it as similar to myself. It also possessed rudimentary mimic capabilities.

Sergeant Athun indicated that he could shoot the ruined shuttle down. I webbed it to the ground using sorcery and he sniped several branches, causing the shuttle to crash upon it. I collected a few samples but otherwise the site has been left undisturbed. With the strength of the unnatural storm, the risk of new creatures, and rebel activity in the area, we chose to evacuate until we could get a signal.

Strongly advise avoiding this area until we investigate further. My best guess is that the cave system contained these creatures and rebels released them, potentially intentionally. Worth investigating further- excursions into the cave should come with the expected risk of more of these creatures.

I intend to follow up on this further.

-Lord Vipion

Leviathan squad performed above and beyond in the face of truly fatal odds, and I suggest the following:

Sergeant Athun
  • Mark of the crusher (for quite literally crushing a very dangerous foe using a shuttle).
  • Special Service Medal II for sniping the shuttle down at a key moment, having lined the moment up perfectly.

Sergeant Dew
  • Special Service Medal II for engaging against fatal odds while using his jetpack.
  • The purple Heart II for being critically injured, near fatally; due to his bravery, we lived to fight another day.

Specialist Gast-
  • Special Service Medal II for firing and hitting the enemy directly in the face during key moments, showing bravery and staying by my side even in the midst of such danger.

Specialist Codri
  • Special Service Medal for II firing accurately at the enemy and providing cover fire where it may have otherwise led to our deaths, an unrelenting force against a greater power.

Sergeant Miriadas
  • Special Service Medal II for utilizing her engineering skills to assist in getting us down from the shuttle, and then using her flares to help us see the creature.
  • The Savior’s medal for using stims at a key moment to keep Sgt Dew alive.

Lieutenant Rennab:
  • The Purple Heart.

Medal of Sacrificial Defense for all of them. I lean towards either medal II or medal III. They faced truly fatal odds and none of them displayed cowardice.
Medal of Unbreakable Will for all attending, as they did not flee during the mental attack.

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
