[IC] Custom Redesign of apprentice Annebelle's helmet - User Manual

#1

This file is available to all members of House Horuset

At my own suggestion, I installed my recently developped air quality sensor into the helmet of apprentice Annabelle. Over the course of three weeks of constant effort, I worked through three separate versions untill making the final product. I tested it and determined that it is suitable for all standard operations. Below, you will find specifications and a user manual.

Project name and version: Helmet modification air sensor Mark IV

Change log:
- Addition of backup sensor arrays
- Increased armor protection
- Spreading of the internal wiring so as to minimize the damage of a local failure
- Addition of backup control pannel
- Added calibration package version 2.0

Components:

- Four sensor arrays. Each array contains three sensors.
- Two control panels. The main control panel allows for easy switching between modes
- Easy-access battery and circuitry hatch
- Backup emergency power

- Soft foam internal padding

Overview

The air quality sensor was first designed as a handheld device to be used alongside other equipment in the field. Its sensors are calibrated to do two things: log air pressure and the abundance of oxygen. As they log this information, they transmit the values over to the circuit boards. These are programmed with threshold values. If a certain threshold is exceeded, the device gives off a verbal warning through a speaker as well as other audiovisual cues (lights/alarms). It runs on a standard battery pack that can provide 24 hours of continuous service in primary mode, or four to six hours in boosted mode.

The device in it current state does not keep logs.

Modes (main control panel):
The main control panel is situated on the left side of the jaw, near the chin

- Primary mode (blue tip button): The user will be provided with continuous, real-time updates of air quality at a range of 5 to 10 meters all around. Recommended for use in contained environments such as temples, tombs or other buildings.
- Intermittent mode (green tip button): The user will be provided with a one-time update of air quality at a range of 5 to 10 meters all around. Recommended for use outdoors or other areas where one might not expect the air quality to be poor
- Boosted mode (red tip button): The user will be provided with a one-time charged update of air quality at a range of 25 to 30 meters around them. While the battery can handle such stress, the internal circuitry cannot. Overloading the sensor and CPU will cause poor performance in the long run. Only recommended in emergencies.

Speaker:
The device's internal speaker comes with the standard voice-over package made by yours truly. Installation of custom voice-over packages is possible.

Backup control panel:
If the main control panel is damaged to the point of non-functionality, there is a backup control panel at the back of the helmet to the left of the battery hatch that can take over. Use of the backup control panel does not require the main control panel to be non-functional.

In case of primary and secondary sensor failure:
If the primary and secondary sensor arrays are damaged to a point where they can no longer provide accurate measurements, the system automatically switches over to the backup arrays. These arrays only support the primary and intermittent modes. Activating boosted mode with the primary and secondary arrays down will cause damage to the device.

In case of total failure
If the device is longer operable, whether through sensor failures, short circuits wire-integrity loss, the system will automatically shut down. The battery pack will be ejected and the battery container will be locked to prevent further damage to the system and the user.

In case of imminent and catastrophic integrity loss
If the device and its internal components are damaged to such a degree that the safety systems cannot contain the cascading failures, a rudimentary warning system will ask the user to immediately remove the helmet. Ignoring this warning is not smart.

Maintenance

The user can replace a battery, but maintenance is to be performed by me alone. Maintenance may include the replacement of the battery container, circuit boards, wires and sensors as well as (re)calibration of the sensors.

Questions and inquiries

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
