Imperial Military: Imperial Ranks and Structure

A small holorecording would play once the file was downloaded. A synthetic Imperial voice would speak, near entirely monotone.

"The Imperial Military is made up of various ranks and structures in its dual branches. Such information is now publicly available through the Imperial Archives to ensure that each Imperial Soldier does not forget their basics from the Imperial Academies. Commendations must be earned by any soldier wishing to progress in a career within the military and must be proactively sought out by the soldier. Few commendations will fall into your lap without active service and ensuring your superiors are aware you want one from them."

And as soon as it had started, the brief recording was done. Following, the file would go into detail concerning the ranks and structure of both the Imperial Army and the Navy.

Imperial Army Ranks:

Private:

The Private is the grunt of the Imperial Army. The lowest and first rank of any Soldier, the Private makes up the backbone of the Imperial Army. Despite their low rank, they are still given access to some of the most high-tech weapons and armour that the Sith Empire can offer at its current time. Privates are well known to receive access to the Imperial Light Infantry Armour alongside its Medium Armour counterpart, leaving them as field inexperienced, but well armed and armoured all the same.

All privates receive basic combat training from the Imperial Academy, just as they also receive basic vehicle piloting training. This ensures that any private can operate any ranged weapon they come across on the battlefield alongside being able to drive near all land based vehicles that they may come into command of during an engagement. As a private, you are given access to an Imperial Speeder as the Imperial Army soldier's first vehicle.

Specialist:

The Specialist is the first promotional rank within the Imperial Army. While now no longer considered a grunt, a Specialist is still one of the newest ranks to the Imperial Army. Expected to have gained sufficient experience in the field with such a promotion, a Specialist can pick a specialisation to go into to ensure that they can continue to serve the Empire in the best way that they can.
A Specialist is also given access to
Imperial Heavy Infantry Armour and the tools necessary for blaster modification and sword modification, enabling a Specialist to begin down the path of modifying their weaponry to better suit their needs within guidelines set by the Imperial Military. No such modifications are outright made available to the Specialist, they must be acquired by the Specialist themselves through the Imperial Quartermaster. The Specialist is by this point an experienced soldier, who has begun tailoring their career within the military to a style of combat that best suits themselves through weaponry, armour and specialisation.

NCO - Corporal:

The Corporal is the first rank that is truly considered an NCO or 'None-Commissioned Officer'. The Corporal is often expected to lead Fire Teams or even Squads if their is no higher ranking Soldier available. The Corporal is meant to be seen as easily approachable by those beneath them and able to relay messages onto the Sergeant to be passed up the ranks when necessary. While at its early roots, those who show leadership qualities are likely to find it easier than those without to get promoted past such a point.

The Corporal is given access to the  IS-AW, Imperial Scout - Armed Walker. The IS-AW is the first vehicle that a career soldier is given access to as standard and can be taken on any mission that the briefing provider deems necessary. As a Corporal, it is expected that the soldier is capable of leading both on the ground and while controlling a Walker. A Corporal is also given a proficiency mark, the first gained of a soldier's career. Likewise, the Corporal gains access to the first Blaster or Vibrosword Modification Category of their choice.

As per the
Saltaeon Reforms soldiers who have reached the rank of Corporal are allowed to begin training in their chosen Advanced Specialisation once they have received approval from a Commissioned Officer or above. This training is an introductory period and upon the successful completion of an AdSpec Trial the soldier will be able to operate as said Advanced Specialisation with the approval of a Mission Leader granting them access to any specialised armour or weapons that come under the provisions of the Advanced Specialisation they have chosen to train in.

NCO - Sergeant:

The Sergeant is the dedicated Squad Leader within the Sith Empire. Expected to be able to manage anywhere between two and five Fire Teams at any one time, the Sergeant is the first rank that truly has to show qualities towards leadership and tactics within the Sith Empire. Still a None-Commissioned Officer, the Sergeant will of course more aside to a Commissioned Officer if one is present to lead a squad into battle.

As a Sergeant, the soldier is given access to the
IB-CT, Imperial Behemoth - Compact Tank as a new vehicle to be used in combat. The IB-CT is a small tank with medium armour, capable of severely damaging lighter vehicles and enemy emplacements alike. The Sergeant is likewise given access to an Advanced Specialisation, one of the two that follow on from the soldier's previously picked specialisation. With such leadership responsibilities the Sergeant must learn how to protect their thoughts and as such is expected to learn Thought Shield, the training of which will have been made available to them.

CO - Ensign:

The Ensign is the first rank of the Commissioned Officer class of Imperial Soldiers. Now dedicated with a focus more on leading those beneath them than being a grunt themselves, the Ensign is likewise the first rank to receive access to the Officer Uniform as made standard throughout the Sith Empire. The Ensign is expected to assist the Lieutenant in running a platoon and doesn't have a dedicated organisational unit to their rank.

The Ensign is given access to the ID-TD, Imperial Devastator - Tank Destroyer.  The ID-TD is a capable vehicle to be used against other enemy vehicles or fortifications. Less combat effective than other military vehicles against infantry, the Tank Destroyer is no less intimidating to be staring down the barrel of. The Ensign is also given access to Specialised Equipment in the form of the Exo-suit, the Commanding Officer's Chestplate, the Force Mask helmet modification and a Grappling Hook. Alongside such equipment, the Ensign is given the second Proficiency of their career. Likewise, the Ensign gains access to the second Blaster or Vibrosword Modification Category of their choice.

CO - Lieutenant:

The Lieutenant is the Commissioned Officer expected to lead a Platoon of Soldiers. Able to draw assistance from the Ensigns beneath them, the Lieutenant is the first rank dedicated towards leading Soldiers on a large scale. Tactical ability alongside leadership qualities are highly important for a Lieutenant especially as most see the Lieutenant as the first true Commissioned Officer due to their dedicated organisational unit.

The Lieutenant gains access to the
IM-IT, Imperial Mauler - Interceptor Tank. The IM-IT is a tank dedicated towards anti-infantry, leaving the Lieutenant capable of both overrunning and extinguishing enemy combatants with ease when within such a vehicle. The Lieutenant is also given permanent access to one piece of equipment from outside of their specialisation of their choice.  As a Lieutenant, the soldier is also authorised to call in cross service support in the form of bombing runs and other aerial support to assist the ground forces when such support is available.

SCO - Captain:

The Captain is the first Senior Commissioned Officer of the Sith Empire. Alongside such recognition comes the heavy burden of command however. Expected to be capable of leading a Company of troops, the Captain can when assigned to command such numbers decide the outcome of a battle for better or worse with the decisions they make in the field. The Captain is the first rank that will have to begin considering the logistical nightmare that can become supplying such vast numbers of troops with all the supplies they require to continue fighting in the name of the Sith Empire.

The Captain is imbued with the official authority
to represent the Horuset Powerbase to other powerbases of the Empire in matters of negotiation to begin the transition into politics. The Captain also gains access to the third Blaster or Vibrosword Modification Category of their choice. Likewise, the Captain is given a plot of land from a territory within the Horuset Powerbase that contains a small stately House and a Farmstead with farmhands and garrison forces for protection. Such land is most likely to be on planets such as Sernpidal, Orsus, Plooma or Nez Peron and enables the Captain to change their family into the founding of a dynasty alike those of Vaiken, Kilran and Kirill.

SCO - Major:

The Major is the second Senior Commissioned Officer, a direct promotion from Captain. While a Captain can command a Company, a Major is expected to be able to command a Battalion efficiently. The focus on commanding such a large number of Soldiers can often see Majors falling to a back line to be amongst the communications and planning teams dedicated towards ensuring that they have all the information they require to make the best decisions for a battle. Logistics is a part of what a Major must consider when commanding a Battalion, their focus beginning to drift even further into a 'big picture' unlike their subordinates who can still micro manage the smaller aspects of any given plan.

The Major is given access to a large set amount of
resources from the Horuset Powerbase, to be used in the cementing of their dynasty and the upgrading of their stately home into a full estate. This comes with an increased garrison alongside further fortifications and slaves to be used as the Major decrees. If the planet that the Major's Estate is on is attacked, the Horuset Powerbase will use the Major's estate as a base from which to operate counter assaults.

SCO - Colonel:
The Colonel is expected to be able to lead a Brigade, now well into the thousands of Soldiers. While direct frontline service is often rarely seen for Colonels due to their focus on the grander plan rather than fighting for the ground that they order captured, Colonels do still take a place at any Forward Operations Base to be amongst the teams dedicated towards communications and logistics just alike the Majors beneath them. Their focus on tactical brilliance outshines the expectations of Colonels to be directly leading forces, meaning that those who reach such a rank likely have studied military tactics and strategies extensively throughout their career as an Imperial Soldier.

SCO - General:
The General is the Highest Commissioned Officer rank available within the Imperial Army. Expected to be able to command a Division, a General's focus is purely on the planning table. Tactical brilliance and genius are commonplace amongst the Sith Empire's Generals, who will have fought long and hard for many years to see themselves reach such an esteemed rank. No longer expected to go into the field unless the General themselves deems it necessary, the General will command the Sith Empire's forces with an iron grip with broad sweeping movements, leaving the finer details of each movement to those beneath them.

Imperial Navy Ranks:

Private:
The Imperial Navy sees much overlap in terms of ranks for those aboard the ships of the Sith Empire. One such rank, is Private. Privates within the Imperial Navy are alike their Army counterpart, the most numerous. Making up the bulk of any ship, a Private is expected to be able to work on most parts of the ship in an efficient manner, ranging from anything including and between the Engine Rooms to the various Shield Generators.

Specialist:
The Specialist is another rank that is shared with the Imperial Army. While most certainly not interchangable, the Specialist in the Imperial Navy has a similiar choice to make at such a rank to their Army counterpart. Now able to be dedicated towards a certain aspect of a Ship, the Specialist can work anything from the Communications of the ship to the Scanners and Shield Generators. Still numerous amongst any ship, a Specialist will often have a small group of Privates underneath them who they can dedicate towards small minor tasks in seeing the ship running smoothly.

Corporal:
The Corporal is a Junior None Commissioned Officer aboard an Imperial Navy ship. Expected to be able to direct several Specialists with their various privates underneath them at once, a dedicated Corporal can often mean the difference between failure and defeat when it comes to Ship to ship combat. Able to swing the tide and efficiently command their small section of a crew, Corporals have a dedication to seeing systems maintained and restored if necessary no matter the cost.

Sergeant:
The Sergeant is a Junior None Comissioned Officer aboard an Imperial Navy ship. Expected to be able to coordinate the Corporals and Specialists beneath them, the Sergeant is key in seeing matters of a sub-system prioritised to ensure maximum efficiency. Expected to be on the lower decks amongst the staff they hold the command over, the Sergeant should know those beneath them by name in full, with a duty of being approachable to ensure that matters are passed up the chain of command when necessary.

Petty Officer:
The Petty Officer rank despite its name is still a None Commissioned Officer. The Petty Officer is expected to coordinate with other Petty Officers and the Ensign above them to coordinate the various Sub-Systems on a ship that are dedicated towards one system in particular. For example, a Petty Officer can be assigned to a Sub-System of the Shield Generator and be expected to see it maintained and running while coordinated with the other various Sub-Systems of the Shield Generator.

Ensign:
The Ensign is the first Commissioned Officer rank of the Imperial Navy and likewise the first that can be expected to maintain a permanent post aboard a Starship's bridge. Capable of coordinating an entire system aboard a ship, an Ensign can just as easily be down in the bowels of the ship alongside those they are commanding as being on the bridge and maintaining efficiency from afar. Expected to relay back information to the bridge regardless of their location, the Ensign is an important cog in the Imperial Navy Machine.

Lieutenant:
A pair of Lieutenants are considered the right and left hand of the Captain of a vessel. Most information on the ship will flow directly through a lieutenant as it makes its way to the Captain. Able to advise and advocate for certain tactics, a Lieutenant can likewise be in charge of an entire broad scale system on a ship with Ensigns acting under them for larger vessels like the Harrower-Class Dreadnoughts of the Imperial Navy. If anything were to happen to the Captain of a ship, it is almost guaranteed that a Lieutenant will take on the post in a field promotion to ensure that the mission does not stall.

Captain:
A Captain is a Seniors Commissioned Officer and is the first rank within the Sith Empire's navy that is expected to command a ship. Ranging from Gage-Class Transports to Harrower-Class Dreadnoughts, a Captain can and will be assigned to operate any ship of the Imperial Navy and be expected to give orders to catapult such a ship to greatness. A key part of being a Captain is maintaining morale on the long voyages away from home for a crew of thousands, charismatic captains often go far with great renown.

Group Captain:
A Group Captain likewise commands a warship like a Captain, but also coordinates with Captains to ensure the security of a small flotilla. A Group Captain is not expected to command an entire fleet or even a large scale operation, but during the logistical movement of ships around the Empire, a Group Captain can and will be assigned to see all ships arrive at their destination safely.

Commodore:
Unlike the Group Captain, a Commodore holds the prestige and rank necessary to command a similiar number of ships to the Group Captain, but during open hostility and battle. Expected to be able to coordinate multiple ships on a micro scale during a battle, a Commodore can often find themselves in command of a handful of ships while directly at the helm of a ship themselves. Tactical genius becomes of the utmost importance for a commodore, where hundreds if not thousands of lives hang on their every order.

Admiral:
Admiral is the highest ranking Commissioned Officer rank of the Imperial Navy. Dedicated towards leading entire fleets to victory on both a tactical and strategic scale, the Admiral has been afforded the flexibility of both being able to micromanage their own ship and give out vast sweeping orders to dozens of other ships that could make up the fleet that they are in command of. Almost exclusively on Capital Ships alike the Harrower-Class Dreadnought or the Terminus-Class Destroyer, an Admiral has risen as high as any one figure can within the Sith Empire's Navy and is offered the respect of such a feat.

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
