Operation: Serpent Fang - Rock and Stone (Jedi Priority)
Attendees:
Major 'Bane' Koren (2IC)
Sergeant 'Honour' Kienix (SL)
Ensign Rennab
Corporal 'Saviour' Miriadas
Private Codri
Imperial Assault Droid (Controlled by Kienix)
Objective:
Reach the Eastern Cave and conduct a sampling of a specific type of ore.
Do not alert the Imperio Atori to this mission.
Brief:
Arriving to the small pier situated by the near entirely dried up lake, Leviathan were given the run down by Major Koren. We were to traverse through the nearby cave and to another to the East, to which our objective would come into play. Said objective was to identify, sample and scan ore without alerting the Imperio Atori to said objective.
Report:
With the briefing given, I took the position of Squad Lead with Bane's approval and, once Bane transferred Saviour the sampling equipment, had us all move out towards the Northen Cave, said cave that myself, Ensign Rennab and Sergeant Haldeen travelled through when we first arrived to Atorius, in a single file formation paired with five meter spacing until we reached the cave's entrance. Nearing the entrance to the cave, I issued a halt with a gesture, to which the entire Squad did, the Assault Droid too.
The reason for this halt would be so that I could check for, as best as I could, the potential threat of life, animal or otherwise before we entered so we were not caught off-guard. With the motion detector detecting nothing yet, save for wild-life behind us, I had us continue inside with myself and the Droid taking point. As we passed through the cave, passing the camera I had placed nights before, I would check the motion sensor once more, to which two blips would appear at the other end of the cave. Uncertain of if it's the Imperio Atori, enemies to the Empire or wild-life, I had the Squad prepare for combat.
Myself, the Droid and Bane would move up, taking cover by a series of rocks. I'd check the sensor once more, to which two more blips appeared from outside the cave and closing. By this point, we could hear voices, voices that gradually came closer and closer. Having Bane and the Droid hold position with myself up front and Saviour and the Chiss situated with firing positions on the small rocky bridge, I'd instruct them all to open fire on my mark. Letting the four come closer, attempting to see for any sort of identifiable marks to determine if they were FOF (Friend-or-Foe), I'd check the sensor a final time, to which I saw no more targets. With this information, we acted.
I'd target the first two, so did Bane, and then so did the Droid once bolts started flying, whilst Saviour and the Chiss targeted the back pairing. With confirmation from the entire Squad that they were indeed ready, I'd yell out for them all to open fire as I did myself, sending two rounds of burst towards the first two, one round to each. As soon as the order came, the rest opened fire themselves, each taking a kill for themselves save for the Droid that decided to shoot the dead. There'd be three corpses in the cave's passage now as the fourth fell into the river and drifted out, out to the outside world.
Bane would wisely suggest checking the bodies to attempt to identify who the four were, to which I agreed and had him do it while myself and the Droid moved up towards the cave's exit, holding there and watching for anymore possible targets. Saviour and the Chiss would hold by the rocky bridge, that is until Bane had Saviour move up to his position with the intent of helping him identify the bodies and their weapons. This is when Ensign Rennab arrived and held his position on the rocky bridge with the Chiss Private.
Saviour and Bane, along with a suggestion from the Ensign, would conclude that the four had military grade equipment paired with the fact that they were pro-pub. We also theorize the possibility of the S.I.S being involved, which caused me concern. The concern would lie in the Imperio Atori itself because, if the S.I.S are indeed involved, they could very well have spies placed inside, to monitor us. For this reason alone, we didn't warn the Imperio Atori to activity this close to their site. Ensign Rennab would hold by the cave, keeping it under watch whilst the rest of the Squad continued out on mine, the Droid's and Bane's lead.
Continuing on, I'd begin to check the motion sensor almost every five or so seconds as I'd receive constant blips from the nearby wild-life, keeping me on edge. However, I didn't bother concerning the Squad with this information as I deemed it unnecessary and of no use. Moving onwards, checking the vegetation, the waters, I heard a click. Said click would alert me to the sight of Bane and Saviour strung up in some primitive, yet effective trap as they dangled from a pair of trees. Before I even thought about helping the pair, I checked the area, expecting an ambush. However, none came.
Demanding the Droid to stay and defend the two dangling imperials, myself and the Chiss would move up to an elevated position, following Bane's order of checking the area and ensuring it is indeed secure. Once we arrived to said elevated position, I'd assume a prone position, looking out over the lands below, switching to IR as it drew on the borders of night as the Chiss checked our rear. Spotting nothing, nothing but animals hiding in thick areas of vegetation, I issued the all clear and sent the Chiss down to assist the dangling Major and Corporal whilst I held overwatch up top. With the freeing of the pair, I issued a regroup on my position.
With the group back together again, we'd move up on the cave that contained our objective, the ore. Stacking up behind Bane, I had the Droid hold a sentry position on the cave's exit, to watch and defend our flanks. We'd push in, I took point with Bane whilst Saviour and the Chiss were roughly five meters behind, parallel to each other. I'd check the motion sensor as we walked, to which it showed a "Ghost Blip." This blip would appear and disappear once, causing slight concern. A possible defection of the sensor? I'd alert the others to the possibility of something being in here as we'd then hear the sounds of old machinery somewhere deep, deep into the cave itself.
Switching pairs, Bane and Saviour, the ones with the knowledge and equipment to handle ore, to take point and find us the ore while myself and the Chiss act as a rear guard to them, I'd spot the blip again. By this time, Bane and Saviour found the ore we were after and they begun to sample it. I'd alert them all, issuing them all to prepare for close range fighting and for Bane and Saviour to hurry it up as this was certainly no defection of the sensor. I'd switch my rifle to a power shot bolt, in the case it's an animal of significant size as Bane and Saviour completed the ore sample. With that, myself and the Chiss led us out, speeding it up as we all checked our flanks.
We'd manage to reach the exit, to which I'd spot the blip again and so I had us hold by the exit and had the Droid take up a firing position, having the mechanical soldier prepare to open fire to it's circuit's content. Bane and Saviour would be up front, still in the cave slightly while myself and the Chiss were outside, aiming in with the Droid. We'd then hear a voice, a voice coming from inside the cave we just made our exit from. This voice would be feminine and young, most likely either a teenage girl or a young woman. This voice would order us to leave and that they "Fight for the Freedom of all." This immediately sparked my concern for a possible Jedi.
I'd have the Chiss prepare a flash grenade and to have her throw it on my mark. Saviour would engage with the voice in verbal combat of sorts. The woman from the inside would speak even more, speaking like how I imagined the Jedi cultists to do so. I'd check the sensor again, to which I spotted eight more targets and the Ghost Blip. I'd prepare for a retreat, having the Droid be the last one out to protect imperial lives when the time for the retreat came. However, into the cave, I could swear on the Emperor's grace itself, that a blue haze would shine through. A possible lightsaber. But suddenly, blaster wielding foes would rush out of the cave, firing towards us.
As soon as the first came into view, I released my power shot and had the Droid open fire, hoping to keep them suppressed as I yelled for the flash to be thrown. Bane would suggest collapsing the cave and to that I agreed. Saviour and Bane would attempt to close the cave off by throwing multiple grenades, to which it worked long enough for us to make our retreat back to the Northern Cave and to the 'safety', to which we met Ensign Rennab once more. We'd hold the by the Northern Cave, ensuring we weren't followed while we discussed what had just occurred. I'd advise that Saviour is given a solid and detailed explanation so she sees the Jedi threat for what they are as she believes we could've fought them, which would've no doubt ended in a botched mission and more importantly, the death of Leviathan personnel. Though, I do admire her courage and confidence.
Making our way back to the camp itself, Bane would order for sensors to be placed and to not mention the "J-Word" to any of the Imperio Atori. Leviathan are now to be on high alert, everyone is to be on the best of their game, every moment of every day and night on this planet. With the threat of Jedi and even S.I.S involvement, we cannot slack off, even by a little.
Key Notes:
-Objective Completed; Ore sample retrieved
-Possible S.I.S involvement; Military grade gear on the pro-pubs
-Jedi; possibly a Padawan due to their young age. This also could suggest a Master or a Knight nearby
-Traps; most likely more spread throughout the jungle, be it Imperio or not
