Mission Report: Sernpidal - The Taurill Nest
![[Image: lxfpzg4.jpg]](https://i.imgur.com/lxfpzg4.jpg)
A small holorecording would play once the file was downloaded. The voice of Harridax Geskar would play across the recording, somewhat haughty and rehearsed. It was very clearly a recording made for multiple uses.
"Captain McCarthy, Captain Koren. Listed below is my report of yesterdays mission, for you to look over at your own leisure. The account is from my own perspective of events, a full detailing of all that occurred only able to be gathered from multiple reports from multiple people."
And as soon as it had started, the brief recording was done. Following, the file would go into detail of the titled report.
Stage 1 - Landing, Initial Assessment and First Engagement:
As per the orders of Captain McCarthy, Specialist Pelt was put in charge of the Imperial Forces on the ground during the mission. This consisted initially of myself and Specialist Vareniu. We were organised into call-signs alongside an apprentice known as Cerberus Black, one of Lord Kalkoran's apprentices I believe. Specialist Pelt became A-1, Specialist Vareniu A-2, Apprentice Cerberus A-3 and myself as A-4. Specialist Pelt saw us organised into a Column Formation with A-3 at the head. While it took much and more time for Specialist Vareniu to get into formation, after much prodding from myself she was in place and the column began to advance.
As we reached the entrance to the bunker, the walls and doorway were lined with a fleshy biomass. From what I can tell, the Taurill were dragging back corpses of the dead, both their kind and any others, to line their hidden crevices on Sernpidal. Whether this was an intentional defense mechanism to resist the Taurill Disruptor that had immobilised the other Taurill across the planet or was to make breeding further Taurill more suitable is unclear, but both could equally be true hypothesis. The Taurill were seen near immediately, but they refused to leave the bunker. Clawing at the air as if an invisible force kept them within the bunker itself.
Specialist Pelt gave the order to open fire and we all did. The Taurill were downed and killed within a handful of seconds, them being unable to leave the bunker made it like live fire target practise. Some stray shots hit the biomass walls and they seemed to almost absorb the shots, leading further to my belief that the biomass somehow insulated the Taurill Nest from the Taurill Disruptor. After the Taurill were dealt with, we advanced into the bunker. My eyes caught a group of supply crates, but did not think much of them at the time.
Stage 2 - Attack at the Elevator and doubling back:
As we advanced through the Bunker, we arrived at an elevator deep within. Upon seeing the elevator, I immediately thought to double back to check the Supply Crates to see if there would be anything within that would assist with the situation. However, before I could double back the Horuset Forces were attacked. The swarm of Taurill nearly overwhelmed and nearly threw several down the shaft itself. I lost both my right boot and right Greave, with the body glove that is under Imperial Armour holding strong. I was swiftly pulled to safety by an Apprentice Zhephra, another apprentice of Lord Kalkoran, I believe. After this, the fight ensued properly and the Taurill were swiftly dispatched, me switching to knife and pistol for the fight due to the close quarters nature of it.
Specialist Pelt took this opportunity to attempt an innovative way of getting further into the bunker. It unfortunately did not go according to his plan and as such we began looking for other ways to descend the elevator. Once the Taurill incursion had been dealt with, I doubled back with a pair of Acolytes and we checked out the Supply Crates. After uncovering them from the biomass and prying open the crates, we found winches and suitable grappling equipment to climb down and back up the elevator shaft. I hurried back with the supplies with the Acolytes who had accumulated under my command and setup the equipment. Once at the bottom of the Elevator shaft, the Horuset Forces reformed into new teams.
Stage 3 - Behemoth Taurill, the Biomass and the bunker busting:
Once at the bottom of the elevator shaft, Specialist Vareniu worked towards securing Specialist Pelt safely and to bring him back towards the shuttle. I worked alongside the Sith to push deeper into the bunker. Once further in, we came into sight with a gigantic Taurill, Taurill digging and what seemed like the centre of the Biomass, alike a heart or a central nervous system. I fought alongside an Apprentice Vaenra, a Neophyte Khatatas and again alongside Apprentice Cerberus. Apprentice Vaenra outright killed any smaller Taurill that got near her before briefly helping Apprentice Cerberus with the big Taurill. Apprentice Cerberus near enough went toe-to-toe with the Behemoth Taurill alongside Neophyte Khatatas, both of which performed admirably. I began by opening fire on the Behemoth Taurill and was able to blind one of its eyes.
With the Behemoth Taurill half blind, I snuck through its blind spot while Apprentice Vaenra leaped over the Behemoth. With a brief bout of communication, she began to distract the smaller Taurill while I charged forward towards the pulsating biomass. I took my knife into hand and stabbed the 'Heart' three times, each stab wound six metres from the last. I placed inside each stab wound a Thermal Detonator set to detonate remotely at my command before turning around and running back towards the Horuset Forces. Apprentice Vaenra dealt with the smaller Taurill and Apprentice Cerberus and Neophyte Khatatas seemed to have killed the Behemoth Taurill. I detonated the Thermal Detonators and due to the blast, the heart seemed to outright disintegrate.
After the defeat of the immediate Taurill, an Imperial from another squad ran in with charges so that the entire bunker could be collapsed in on itself. Once the charges were setup, the Horuset Forces made their way towards the evacuation zone. We met back up with some of the Acolytes who had taken it upon themselves to guard the Elevator Shaft and once at the upper levels of the bunker made our way out without issue, ending the mission.
Assessment and Recommendations:
Sirs, it is my recommendation that local Sernpidal Forces be alerted to the potential discovers made in this report. Alerting them to such matters could enable them to more quickly identify if there are any other such Nests left on Sernpidal and the tactics used in this report will enable them to clear the Nests themselves.
The Sith-Imperial cooperation in this mission was of a high quality, sirs. Picking and choosing select Sith to work alongside the Imperials and developing tactics that will with greater fluidity and flexibility be able to incorporate Sith can only mean further, easier, success for future missions.
Commendations:
Apprentice Cerberus, Apprentice Vaenra and Neophyte Khatatas all performed admirably throughout the entire mission. Apprentice Cerberus worked directly alongside Aurek while Aurek was still operating on the front lines and after it no longer was with the doubling back of Specialists Pelt & Vareniu, he worked well with myself to hold back the Behemoth Taurill while I shot it in the eyes. Likewise with Neophyte Khatatas, he held back the Behemoth Taurill enabling me to do as much as I did. Apprentice Vaenra meanwhile assisted me greatly with the final leg of the mission, who without I would likely not be alive to write this report.
