Mission Report: The Night Creature Attack

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This Report was made to be accessed to all ranks within the Horuset Powerbase, and only House Horuset members alone. When accessed, a small holorecording would play. The voice of the Lorekeeper, Sith Kaer, would proclaim across the recording. Her tone would be of a serious nature as well as stern.
"Members of the Horuset Powerbase. Within this report, you will learn the details from the mission that recently took place on Dromund Kaas. This report is based from my own perspective whilst in my own team, while the main Horuset Group was sent to another location on Dromund Kaas."

After that, the voice recording was completed. What followed was the file that went into vivid detail, typed out by the Lorekeeper.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stage 1: Briefing and Entry.

One of the Horuset Scouts stumbled upon a datapad with a recording. The scout had played the recording and then had it sent to the Horuset Powerbase. With the Dark Lord and both Lords occupied with highly important matters, I decided to step in and take charge by handling this. I saw the recording. It was a human man, heavily injured, lying on the forest floor. He spoke of his village, Jormand Village, that was under heavy attack by a force he had never seen before. He spoke of how his wife was torn apart and his daughter was eaten. He made the recording as a form of help. However, later in the recording, he was dragged away by an unseen being, and screams of fear and pain followed, along with a pool of blood moving into the frame.
I had attempted to contact the scout who found this recording, but there was no response. While I was in the Officer Deck, I was informed of a small outpost that was attacked the same time the Jormand Village was attacked. Therefore, I had called upon the members of the Horuset Powerbase to have them embark on a mission to locate the scout and learn what has happened at Jormand Village, while I set out with a group of Imperials to scout the Outpost.

Upon arriving at the Outpost on Dromund Kaas, myself and ten Imperials were welcomed with a horrific sight. The Outpost was destroyed, the floor of the Outpost was flooded with bones and blood. We found no survivors, and little to no evidence on what occurred. I came to the conclusion that something with great strength, anger and brutality attacked this Outpost.

Stage 2: The Setting Sun and the Attack that Followed.

During our time on Dromund Kaas, I had noticed that I could not sense the Dark Side around me, nor anything other than my team. It seemed as if the area was completely dead. That changed the moment the sun had set on Dromund Kaas. When the darkness flowed through the land, I felt a great danger approaching from all directions. I instructed the Imperials to get ready for a fight, while I prepared myself as well. Then out of the darkness, came creatures I had never seen before. One can assume that these creatures have been made from Alchemy.

During my fighting, I had recorded the entire battle. Below are pictures I had drawn of three creatures, and I gave each of them a name.

The smallest of the three: The Darkling.

Spoiler: The Darkling.

The medium sized creature: The Nightdire.

The largest of the three: The Mist Flayer.

I had lost count of how many creatures had attacked me and my team. It seemed as if the horde was never-ending. As the numbers grew, the numbers of my team started to fall. What struck me was how well coordinated these creatures were. At the start of the fight, the creatures did not attack me, but rather the Imperials. I did everything I could to get their attention, to save the Imperials, but in the end, I did not succeed.

I was standing alone, surrounded by the creatures who were feasting on the Imperials, while I faced two Mist Flayers, and a Nightdire along with a couple of Darklings. My battle will not be shared in this report, for I do not think it is important, compared to what I have learned about them, which will come at the end of the report.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stage 3: Falling back and Assist.

After much fighting, I saw there was no end. Therefore I ran to the shuttle, picking up a deceased body of a Darkling and a deceased body of a Nightdire. Once inside the shuttle, I placed the bodies on the floor, and Force Pulled a dead Mist Flayer into the shuttle, while shouting at the pilot to take off and to head for the coordinates of the Horuset Team. I nearly lost my leg procuring the Mist Flayer's body, but it was vital to get samples of these creatures. As the shuttle lifted off, I put the bodies in individual cages, making sure they were dead, and covered the cages with cloth. I wrote a message saying that these needed to go to the lab and be locked away from everyone, besides Darth Horuset, Lord Kalkoran and Lord Sanguinis.
Soon after, the shuttle landed in the location where the Horuset Team were, and I saw the chaos that had fallen on the group who were split in two, even though I instructed them not to split. I looked to see which group needed assist more, so I ran towards Sith Soti's group, saving her life by catching a boulder mid air that was clearly aimed for her. I told the team to get the injured, along with the others and head for the shuttle. I stayed behind to distract the remaining Mist Flayers, and it worked, but I felt the hit of one of the Mist Flayers and I was knocked out unconscious.

Assessment and Recommendations:

I was told by my Apprentice when I awoke in the Medical Bay, that the creatures fled at the first sight of daylight, as well as the creatures turning into dust as the sight of light. From what I have learned is that the weakness of the Darklings is to stab them in their exposed brain. For the Nightdires, their weakness lies in their spiked tail, cut off their spiked tail and they stagger off balance, giving you an opening to kill them. As for the Mist Flayers, Force Lightning proved to slow them down, however, their main weakness are their eyes. Damage their eyes well enough, they will stagger, giving you the opportunity to kill them. Their hide is tough, but can still be pierced with the lightsaber, but the user of the lightsaber will have to put strength in their strike against the Mist Flayer.

My recommendations are the following: Mental attacks do not work. So if you attempt to use Animal Bond on them, or Force Slow or Force Wound, or any other mental ability, it has no effect on them, and it will drain you of your energy quickly. Another recommendation is to study the weakness I mentioned. Brains for the Darklings, tails for the Nightdires, and the eyes of the Mist Flayers. The reason why I made this report accessible to all those who are in the Horuset Powerbase and them alone, is so that we all can prepare for future attacks.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An Important Note:

The specimens in the lab are under my name and the only ones who have access to them are Darth Horuset, Lord Kalkoran and Lord Sanguinis. No Acolytes, Apprentices, Neophytes, other Household Sith and Imperials may come close to these specimens. I did not risk everything to have my work and sacrifices, along with the sacrifices of my team, be in ungrateful hands. When more information has come out from the combined work of myself, Darth Horuset, Lord Kalkoran and Lord Sanguinis, only then will outside study be allowed.

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
