Detailed Report:
Leviathan mobilised via speeder, travelling out across the desert to a location marked by Grek 3-5 in their last report, marked as Objective on the attached map.. Upon closer inspection this was a village filled with civilians, likely escapees from Mosila. They were non-hostile and one villager peacefully engaged Corporal Mays, informing him of PDF forces killing Empire forces further South. Specialist Vesk detected a brief comms message during our move past the village and a Republic drone was sighted overhead not long after, suggesting a link between the villagers and local PDF forces.
The buildings of the village were scarred with blaster fire, what seemed like Imperial issue backpacks were sighted within the village and an Imperial dog-tag was found by Specialist Carys South of the village. Suggesting an involvement in the disappearance of Grek 3-5.
Moving further South Specialist Vesk detected a Republic signal from the East before we located Grek 3-5's camp, nestled into a rock face. The camp was mostly intact, with alarm mines and claymores still active. There was evidence of a hoverloader being active within the camp but the trail went cold. It was likely how the backpacks and bodies were moved.
We moved East at this point, circling around the terrain and moving back North to locate the previously discovered signal. It was at this point where we were engaged by a Fireteam of four PDF soldiers. They were able to ambush us in the open desert, suggesting a high level of skill in the terrain. A firefight ensued and Leviathan quickly gained the upper hand. One hostile was killed with three being captured. Each captured soldier had tattoos that suggested they were previously a part of special forces or specialised desert combat units and had joined the PDF upon retirement.
A map was seized from the squad leader which detailed multiple routes through the desert, suggesting smuggling routes. Leviathan returned to where the speeders had been parked and immobilised to return to Mosila when Specialist Vesk detected comms between the village and local PDF. The villagers offered to engage us using weapons provided and PDF forces stated reinforcements were incoming. Confirming this village is armed and ready to engage Imperial Forces in insurgent tactics.
Interrogation of the captives confirmed that the 'village' is, in fact, the basecamp for a Republic smuggling ring between Republic lines and Mosila. The ring aids in the exfiltration of civilians from Imperial control whilst also arming and training insurgents behind our lines. It is strongly suggested that this threat is eliminated in the coming rotations.
