Art of the Duel

"Duels between single combatants have been common among the Sith for thousands of years. A well respected tradition and honour, observed by the likes of Naga Sadow, Ludo Kreesh, Tulak Hord, and more.  To fight in single combat is to put your name, reputation, and honour on the line. Victory brings glory while defeat only shame. Yet to break the conditions of the duel is to tarnish your honour, a much greater shamer than even defeat.
The mark of the Sith is strength, which comes in many ways, but there is no sweeter victory than that of victory in single combat that relies of strength of arms. Study and power in the Dark Side are potent weapons, but in the duelling ring a true test of strength is that of blades, not lightning and not other powers. Though that can be argued against."

"When you duel, conditions should be laid down by the challenger. A duel to settle differences or to prove a point is a serious affair, and may be as deadly as the battlefield, but other duels may be for the purpose of showing skill or even entertainment. When a challenge is issued consideration should be taken on what force abilities will be allowed; I usually state no more than Augmentation, for the duel to be a real test of strength and martial pride.
What comes next is to decide how long the duel will last for. Until first blood? For minor disputes this is a quick way to a solution. Second or third blood allows a greater amount of back and forth, the chance to put your foe under greater pressure and force them into fighting back all the stronger. Perhaps more common is to fight until one party yields, or rather they can no longer fight. This fills a Siths need for extended violence, and allows serious disputes to be solved by the dealing of dangerous wounds or the crippling of limbs, permenant lessons for the loser to consider until such a time that they can win their honour back. But of course Sith can duel unto death, to solve the most heated of arguments with the death of a rival is the tradition that comes from the very birth of the Sith. Yet it is not to be considered lightly, a humiliated and broken Sith is a much more useful tool than a corpse. Though corpses and death have their own symbolic value. There is no shame in dying in single combat, to die with a blade in hand is the mark of a Sith true to their ancestors, facing the enemy and death without regret, as they should have embraced their life, without fear. However, to have your life spared is a great blemish on your name, you were defeated and the victor did not find you worthy of a good death, that is a wound that will never heal. Such shame and dishonour will mark your name until your name is forgotten. The Sith who did not deserve to die a Sith.
Weapons should also be considered, lightsabers are the weapon of the Sith and have been for hundreds of years. Yet swords, spears, glaives and warblades are all valid weapons. They remind us of our past when tribes and warlords battled across Korriban, when our armies stretched from Ziost to Rhelg. A saber burns and sears, a blade draws blood, the living vitae and precious material of Sorcery and Alchemy. To mark your hands with the blood of an enemy, I am unsure if a greater pleasure there can be.
After all things have been considered, duel and fight how you wish. But do so with your own honour, and respect the traditions of the Sith. We were built on combat, we were made for combat, and we die in combat."

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red!
