Mission Report: Rhelg Powerplant

A small holorecording would play once the file was downloaded. The voice of Harridax Geskar would play across the recording, somewhat haughty and rehearsed. It was very clearly a recording made for multiple uses.

"Lord Saltaeon. Ensign Thymius. My Lord, Apprentice Sekker. Corporal Naveill. Listed below is my report of the recent occurrence for you to look over at your own leisure. The account is from my own perspective of events, with me writing the report being considered necessary by both myself and Corporal Trisdane."

And as soon as it had started, the brief recording was done. Following, the file would go into detail of the titled report.

Stage 1 - The Crash:

Our briefing detailed our objective of liberating a swathe of territory on Rhelg from rebel insurgents, centred around an Imperial Powerplant that was holding out against rebel assault. Corporal Gary Naveill led the briefing and explained that Leviathan Squad would be the tip of the spear, our goal to lift the siege on the Powerplant while other squads would contest the territory itself. Corporal Trisdane, Specialist Haldeen, Private Gaze and Private Hayden alongside myself were deployed, organised accordingly:

Corporal Harridax 'Coach' Geskar - Squad Leader - Aurek - Grenadier
Corporal Trisdane 'Immortal' - Aurek - Specialised Infantry
Specialist Haldeen 'Haldeen' - Fire Team Leader - Besh - Specialised Infantry
Private Hayden 'Hayden' - Besh
Private Gaze 'Gaze' - Besh

I operated on the idea of Besh acting as a cohesive rifleman focused Fire Team, with each soldier using their DLAs to suppress the enemy as needed. Aurek, was to operate as the flanking portion of the squad that would kill or flush the enemy out of cover, leaving them dead for the former and easy pickings for Besh in the case of the latter. Besh was each equipped with a fragmentation and flash grenade to emphasis this purpose of a Squad working together, not each soldier acting as lone wolves.

We shuttled to Rhelg but during entry into the atmosphere we were shot down, crashing to the surface below. All squad members were alive, but Corporal Naveill was MIA. We later found out both that the Corporal had survived and managed to link up with other Imperial squads and that we were not shot down in the traditional sense. A large shard of metal metres long was hurled at the shuttle and the site where the gun emplacement was meant to be was found empty. What machine or creature that flung this metal harpoon-like shard, is unknown.

When crashed to the surface, the squad quickly organised and set up bounding overwatches as we proceeded towards the Powerplant. Because of this preparation of Aurek and Besh overlappingly covering each other while the other moved, when Besh came under fire Aurek was able to respond swiftly. Snipers from the south tried to eliminate the squad, but through manoeuvres and flanking from cover to cover and clear and precise orders the squad was able to overcome the attempted ambush with no casualties. Likewise when Aurek came under fire later, Besh was able to counter-suppress the enemy and alleviate the pressure on Aurek enough to once again enable operational effectiveness for both Fire Teams.
After the initial resistance, we pushed further onwards towards the Powerplant.

Stage 2 - The Powerplant:

Once we reached the Powerplant, we expected major resistance but met none. We breached and cleared, door to door and corner to corner until we came across a large pile of bodies with a rebel in the centre. Specialist Haldeen was tasked with communicating with the rebel while Private Gaze provided overwatch, but the rebel made a move and the Private took down the rebel. We pushed further into the Powerplant, uncovering more bodies and data-chits as we went and eventually came to a room that had some form of rebel graffiti, an eye with a teardrop for a pupil large on the wall.
Strangely above all is the fact that by the time we arrived, the Powerplant was effectively no longer under siege. Most of the defenders had been killed and all of the rebels save the one that we found. This changed our mission objective to be one of finding survivors and then reinforcing them as best we could. As a result, we pushed far into the Powerplant.

I have attached all of the data-chits that we recovered and the bodycam footage that Corporal Trisdane uploaded for use by Command.

Stage 3 - The Powerplant Garrison and the enemy:

Pushing far into the Powerplant, we came across the remnants of the Imperial garrison. After a brief confrontation as we confirmed that they were Imperial Soldiers and they did the same for us, we confirmed that all that was left was a Specialist and a handful of Privates. It was at this point that we heard an animalistic scream out from back towards the entrance to the Powerplant that we had came through. I organised the garrison into a third Fire Team, named Cresh, and we all pushed back through the Powerplant with bounding overwatches to secure the entrance.

As we pushed back through, we got confirmation from Corporal Naveill that they were landing in a shuttle outside the Powerplant shortly. Leviathan Squad advised the Corporal of what we were hearing and our belief that it was some form of creature. The Corporal landed safely and as we pushed back through the Powerplant, we met them at the entrance to the Powerplant. We didn't hear the creature again and were able to fully secure the Powerplant.

Assessment and Commendations:

My Lords, sirs, it is my strong belief that there is much that went exceptionally well on this mission.

Specialist Haldeen, deserves the recognition of having successfully led a Fire Team. A note on their way towards becoming Corporal. While I cannot give the Specialist a commendation myself, I would request that a commendation is given to Specialist Haldeen.

Private Gaze is an exceptional Soldier, one who follows orders to the letter and has an excellent understanding of military discipline and coordination. Whatever Imperial Academy he is fresh from, i'd request we try and get more recruits from there until the Powerbase's Orsus Imperial Academy is operational. As a result, I have formally given him his one required written commendation to become a Specialist.

Corporal Trisdane is an excellent soldier who performs well under the stresses of a firefight. The Corporal was utilised as part of the team and while I know they could have been individually more effective if I had operated them differently, I wholeheartedly standby my decision to make them an active part of Aurek and the Squad as a result. If there was any doubt as to whether the Corporal can show initiative proactively on the field or off of it, I would have it wiped clean as I have met few soldiers as attentive as he.

Finally, I request that I am commended for my role in acting as the Squad Leader of a successful mission that had elements of modified creatures and managed to bring back the entirety of the deployed Leviathan Squad unwounded after a crash, ambush and clearing the Powerplant. Additionally, I formally request the Medal "Authoritative Commander I" for myself, due to leading my fellow soldiers to victory and doing so without casualty or disobedience.

- Corporal Harridax Geskar

Ongoing Crisis
War in the Northern Territories

The Balance of Power in the Northern Territories!

"The Northern Territories shift under the weight of changing times. With the passage of the ICOT, internal strife amongst Imperial Forces in the North has lessened - though never abated. Although the momentum of the Republic has not yet been met entirely, fortification efforts and victorious naval campaigns have evened the footing at least slightly. Eyes align on systems such as Vykos, Nam'ta and Orsus to see how this proceeds.."

((OOC: The Balance of Power system has begun! Missions that relate to grand changes in the Northern Territories will have an impact on the balance of power shown above, with the end result being that the balance of power's state at the start of the next war arc will determine how strong the Republic will be in the area. The balance of power can be pushing in our favour with bigger scale events aimed at taking the Republic down or fortifying ourselves in the North. This can be achieved through Operations, Adventures and Guild Events. The blue represents the Republic, and the Empire is red! This is organised by the Guild Team, so please direct OOC questions to them.))
